Do some people think a credit card is required at check in?

I have a hard time understanding why people chose not to leave a CC at check-in. One other advantage to room charge over actually using the CC: Room charges are not billed to your CC account until you check out, CC charges are billed immediately.

For us, we don't have but one credit card with a small credit line used for emergencies only. So we don't use it for room charges.

The only problem with not having a credit card on file with the front desk is that you can't make a phone call. I once did that, and couldn't even call AT&T to charge it to my phone card.
Anita.

I've seen this happen in other cities, especially when we used to do bus tours and didn't register individually.

However, I stayed at POFQ last month with friends, one was a TDS CM who got us the rooms with a CM discount. She didn't want charging priviledges, so we did not have them for either room. We made 7 calls from the room - 6 to 800# calling cards and 1 local call to Mears. Our balance was 7 x .75 or $5.25, which the front desk waived when I went to pay it.

i have a love / hate relationship with charging on my room key.. i like the convenience, but i HATE the fact that now Disney knows about every move, every bandaid, every aspirin, tshirt, etc., ...

i just hope they notice the huge gaps in days when i don't go into their parks!!!! (hee hee)

My husband and I do have the money to charge pretty much what ever we want and still pay the bill off the following month. But we do find that it is way too easy to use the room charge. It's funny, but for us we find that it is much harder to part with the actual cash then to throw a card on the table. I know it is more physiological than anything else. We just take so much cash or travelers checks with us for the day and budget the day according to what we have. With a card it is way too easy to go over the amount. Oh and believe me, when you have my husband along you never return with zero dollars.
