Do small purses require bag check?

Are these long lines mostly in the morning? I don't carry a bag so that I can avid the bag check, but will want to enter the park late in the day to take pictures, and will need my camera bag. Just wondering if the long lines are all day long....:rolleyes1
I would say the lines are longest about 30 minutes before and after the parks open( maybe a little longer) but if you want to come any time after about 11 you should be able to get in very easy unless there is a specie event like MNSSHP or MVMCP going on

I've no doubt security is tighter since Paris/ Brussels etc, but all I carry in my cargo shorts pockets are my wallet and sunglasses case, so I think I'll still breeze through the "guests without bags " line. We'll see in November...

Security screening two weeks ago was much diferent than last July. We watched a Mom, Dad and young girl try to walk through no bag line. They were stopped and sent to bag check because daughter had a tiny Minnie Mouse fanny pack. Dad was arguing and security guard was firm saying no exceptions.

It looks like your last trip was in 2015; things are much tighter now after the Paris bombings then they were in 2015.

We just got back and saw some people with obviously full cargo shorts pockets bring pulled out of the no bag line and told to empty their pockets.

Any bag, no mater how small will be checked.
We went at various times and there definitely were longer lines in early morning than later.
One thing we noticed at MK - for the morning, they set up tables near the Guest Relations outside of the gates. As guests were coming in from the buses, they were going there, making long lines. A security CM was telling people to keep going to the left, where the bag checks were before. We did and found very short lines there.
The lines fluctuate with the arrival of boats, monorails and parking lot trams at the other parks.

Thanks so much! And also to gap2368! :flower3:

That is not the case anymore.
They started enhanced screening after the Paris bombing attacks.

We just got back and there were security CMs directing people where to go in each park.
Their 'script' was "absolutely no bags, stay to the center. Any bags at all, go to a bag check table. Any bag, fanny pack, comtainer needs to be checked, no matter what size."

We did see people with small bags, fanny packs or camera cases try to go into the no bag line. They were sent back to get checked.
Do you mean Brussels? Paris was in November and again this was a December 2015 / January 2016 trip.

Size doesn't matter. Best way to avoid a bag check is not to take a bag.

No.
All the Orlando parks actually started ramping up security after the Paris bombings. I'm not sure of the exact date they added metal detectors, but they had some metal detectors before Christmas. I've read that the extra Disney hired security staff began in January, so they have increased checking once they had their own staff in place.

It was already in place by the time of the Brussels bombings.

We were last at WDW in May 2015. At that time my DH and I both had travel vests that we wore. They had pockets where we could put snacks, small rain ponchos, small camera, cell phone, etc. Only once when we went through the no bags line were we stopped and patted down. Has anyone noticed folks with vests being allowed through? I'm guessing if they're being strict with cargo pockets maybe not...

Metal detectors were there for our Dec/Jan trip. The point I'm trying to communicate with my question, is that even after the security measures were in place (November) they permitted me to go through the no bags with this:

This was during peak time for New Years Eve. However, with everything Disney, procedures can change at any moment. I will stop using the case if I have to go through bag check with that. Again, all I had to do was unzip it and show it was just a cell phone inside at the no bags entrance.

I understand that, but things changed.
Our last park day was 4/13 and we were at the tail end of Spring break. It may be that they were being more stringent because it was still Spring break crowds or because it was so close in time to the Brussels bombings.
Or, it might be the way things are going to be all the time.
All I know is what I saw -
There were CMs at every park making announcements with microphones saying "if you have absolutely no bags, come straight thru the middle. If you have any bags of any size, you must go thru bag check. Size does not matter."
And we saw people with small bags, camera cases, etc. being sent out of that line, then the CM would again say, "any size bag must go thru bag check. "

So, you could be fine with it or you could not be. It may vary depending on the CMs.
We had some who barely looked at a bag underneath DD's wheelchair, some who reached into it the same as other bags and one who made us take everything out because the bag could not be removed.

We visited WDW Feb 27-29 2016, so after Paris bombings, and they had the extra body scans out there. At AK and DHS we were sent in the bagless line with our stroller (empty basket) and I had a small purse opened where we could easily see the few items I had in it. Only at MK I was asked to go to bag check for my purse (at 7am for our pre-park ADR at CP). Went thru security in a few minutes.

image.jpeg This is what I use. It attaches to your waistband with magnets, lays flat against your body, and is covered by your shirt. Since you can't see it, I'm going to assume I will get in without bag check???? It's only large enough to hold my phone, cash, and a lip gloss.
