Do Rate Charts change much from year to year?

We are trying to decide how many points to purchase, but are wondering how much the rates/points change from year to year. 150 points would be okay for us today, but will it get us anything in 10 years?

Thanks!

The rate charts for the most part don't change at all. Any increase in one area, must be offset by a decrease in another area. That is the best thing about DVC.

People have a tendency to look at today's costs. Considering that the same vacation will cost you the same number of points twenty years from now as it does today is impressive.

This isn't the case for the other options for using DVC points. Points for the cruise, Disney collection, etc... can and will increase.

Great question! I am also considering buying in. I am hesitant about spending so much money. That certainly helps to make things look good. From reading these posts it seems as though a lot of people end up buying more points later on. Is it safe to assume that would be because either their families have grown or they have become really addicted and travel longer or more often? What are DVC owners thoughts on that?

The number of points you buy should be based on how many voyages home you want to make a year, when you want to visit, what types of rooms you will need and so forth. Keep in mind you can bank points from year to year or sell points if you feel you have too many. I like trying the different DVC venues and each has different point requirements for a stay. My home resort is OKW and I love it there but have a voyage scheduled for December at VWL.
