Do more rooms get released?

We've only been on one Disney cruise before and booking that was relatively simple, booked 12 months in advance with many rooms to choose from. Looking into booking another sailing 17 months from now and there are hardly any room selections. Do they open more rooms later, do travel agents have more access than the general public (I have an agent, just trying to sort out some details myself first)? I know they just released the fall '17 itineraries so I'm wondering how it works with room availability. Thanks!

Edited to add, I'm looking for connecting rooms in 9B, but none available. Did I miss out already or are they hiding? There were so many to choose from on our last cruise.

Is it showing categories in GTY status or entire categories as unavailable? Or is it when you go to pick a stateroom only a few are showing? If it's the latter, then the issue is that DCL doesn't show all available rooms when you try to pick one. You can try calling DCL direct to find out if a particular stateroom is available, or your TA can do that. It used to be easier to check for particular staterooms, but the new website design has made that more difficult.

Have you tried calling in..? I only saw so many rooms online but I had to call anyway to use a future cruise credit we had. I happened to mention the stateroom we really wanted and he was able to book it no problem. FWIW it was also a 9B...

It's the latter, just a handful available, none of which connect. I'll speak to my agent to see what she can come up with, thank you!

Thank you, I'm going to speak with my agent this afternoon to see if she can get her hands on some connecting 9Bs.

One question - what ship? The Magic & Wonder have fewer connecting rooms. That could be your issue.

Fantasy. I can see a whole lot of them on the map, they just aren't highlighted as "available." But good to know for future sailings on either of those ships, thanks!

I found the TA to have access to different decks than what was available on the website.

My TA was able to locate some 9B connecting rooms so at least now I know they are available and we can ultimately decide whether or not to book this sailing. Thanks for the input everyone.

The Disney site will only give you 8 available staterooms in each category. They usually steer you to non-connecting rooms first. You have to just keep putting in stateroom numbers to see what is available.

As far as I can see, there is no way to put in stateroom numbers to check if specific staterooms are available.

There used to be. To me, this is one of the biggest downfalls of DCL's "new and improved" (NOT!) website! :(

Yes, that is what I meant: On the current website, there is no place to search for specific rooms. I tend to agree that the website is everything but improved now... I also miss the ability to choose favorite port adventures and then have easier access to the ones I want to book in the booking process...

Yep, they make it really difficult now when you have a favorite room or try to book multiple rooms. I was trying to get a verandah with an inside across the hall and there were no combinations at all that worked. Finally called DCL and found out my first choice room was available (just not showing on the website). So then I had to hang up, contact my TA and then she had to call DCL back to change rooms for me. What an inconvenience. With the old website, I just kept entering room numbers until I had a combination I wanted and then let my TA know so that she could just book it.
