I have 5 days booked at the BCV. If i want to drop the first day, and add on a day at the end, can that be done without losing my reservation? What i mean, is i read that if you cancel it sometimes goes to the waiting list, and you could lose your days. Does this happen if i only drop the first day, and then try to add a day at the end? I hope this makes sense. :earseek:

Yes you can do what you are thinking about doing without losing the entire reservation. If a room's not available you can go on a waitlist for that night.

The only problem with dropping days is when it's in the middle. And MS will usually work this out for you as well without losing your days. This isn't likely to be a problem unless you're trying to change resorts and do the wait list day by day for another resort.

I've dropped the first day on my reservation more than once. I kept the same confirmation number and have never lost the reservation - even when I know the time is sold out (standard view room NWB in early December). May do the same this year as well. Sometimes I need to add/drop days at the beginning of my reservation due to airfare. If I get a better deal leaving a day or two earlier than planned, we'll often stay off site for the first few days and do soemthing besdies Disney. Usually that results in dropping the first night of my DVC ressie (a Saturday nights).

Best wishes -

P.S. Due to the time we go, adding a DVC day has not worked for us, even when we use the waitlist.

Carol, why not broaden your reservation then drop the days you don't need when your trip is set? That way you won't have to wonder whether you can get it or not.

Dean,

Are you saying to reserve a room that another member may very well be needing thus tieing up a room for your own convienence :rotfl:

Only kidding
This is how the wait list works for those waiting, plans change

Absolutely. Same for any time you MAY want to go. Even reserving more than one resort or unit size or type then canceling when you know for sure. But you're really not depriving a member in general, only shifting when they will get the unit or who will get it. If the resort is not full, it does not matter. If it's full and there's a wait list, someone will get it, at least for the most part.
