Hello. I have a question that may have been answered before.

We are flying in late on a Friday night and not checking into WDW Resort until Saturday. Is it possible to use DME on Saturday even though we are technically flying in on Friday?

Do I just "lie" about the flight I am actually on?

Any help, tips, etc would be great!

I would love to just stay on WDW but we get in so late and it would be $600 to add the extra night! :scared1: I thought about staying at an All-Star for the 1st night for $180 but then do not want the hassle of moving from All Star to our resort.

THANK YOU!!!

Been done many times. I have done it myself.

Simply reserve a hotel near MCO that has a free shuttle. Collect your luggage from baggage claim and call for the hotel shuttle. The next morning return to MCO to pick up MCO. We told our shuttle driver (Residence Inn) we were going to ME and he dropped us off right there.

Simply make your reservation for ME for Saturday. Tell them a flight that is coming in that day.... time really doesn't matter, but if you want you can be specific give them a flight arrival time about the time you want to use ME.

You are entitled to a trip to and a trip from MCO during your stay, so there is nothing illegal about this....

Duds is right (as usual), but I just wanted to add that if you want to stay at a WDW value resort the first night, it really isn't such a hassle to move to your "real" resort the next day -- especially if you're doing room only ressies. It's a split stay and they'll move your luggage for you. We've done this several times and it's easy, peasy. The luggage doesn't get to the new resort until mid-afternoon, but we're usually at one of the themeparks anyway, so not a big deal. If you have a package, it's a little more of a hassle because you'd need to get to the new resort to check in and get your dining credits, tickets, etc.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Let me ask your opinions...

We could stay at Hyatt MCO for $115 plus tax. Then take DME over in the AM. We are on a package so we would head over early to check in for dining. We are doing military package so no tickets involved, just dining.

or...

We stay at an All Star for $180 (inclusive of taxes) and transfer the next day.

:confused3:confused3:confused3

I am thinking that we should just stay at the Hyatt and just head right to the beach club. We could however go to the parks on New Years Eve if we head over to an All Star! Ahhhh! Such decisions!

Our original plan was to rent a car and just drive but car rentals are high. It is also a pain to return.

Ok so I have one more question...is there anywhere near the airport to buy cases of water and snacks?

I think I would choose the Hyatt for that first night. The savings is worth it to me for the one night. Then you can take ME to BC as early as you like the next morning.

I'm not sure about your water and snacks question. It seems like you'd need a car for that. If you want to go car-less, you could order water and snacks from www.gardengrocer.com We've been very happy with them. We ordered bottled water, soda pop, milk, cereal, chips, etc.

No need to lie about a flight arriving Saturday morning. If you call DME directly at 866-599-0951, you'll speak directly with a DME cast member, someone who will know that you're entitled to that ride on your check-in day no matter what day it was when you flew into MCO. Just tell them the truth and tell them around when you expect to go back to MCO to catch your DME ride. The exact time won't matter, so don't stress over what time you pick.

If you called 407-W-DISNEY and tried to do this, most of the CMs there would incorrectly tell you that you can't use DME on the day after you fly in.

But make sure when you call DME you don't do so any earlier than 60 days before your trip. A DME reservation can only be made if you have a resort reservation, and the DME computer doesn't have access to the resort reservations database until 60 days before arrivals. In other words, if you call DME directly 3 months in advance, they won't be able to help you because they won't be able to access your resort reservation.

Thank you everyone!

I called the DME number and they were so great. You were right, I just told them that I could not find flights to get us in on check in day and they were great. They are not however booking for 2011 yet so they said to call back in the middle of Dec and they will book us for Jan.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE INFO! I love the DIS boards! :lovestruc

We plan on doing the exact same as you for our up coming trip. My only issue was I love the fact they handle your luggage and I don't have to wait with impatient kids.... so I called DME and asked if I could still use this service flying in the night before and they said yes. They said it will be flagged to be distributed the next day! So we will just pack an overnight bag and hit the parks after going to the resort to check in and they can hold my carry on until the room is ready.
