Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

Just got in this afternoon and all caught up.

So sorry to hear about the blunder! I'm hoping Connor has another chance to meet up with Baylor.

I, too, am mourning the loss of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I'm sad that my nephews will never get to experience it.

Question about Boma: Is it better for breakfast? Dinner? Or both?

We're beginning to plan our 2010 trip and AKL CL is ranked number 1, followed by the Poly (of course!), and WL. Your TR is convincing me that AKL may be the way to go.

Did you find you used your car to get around? Not sure if we should rent a car if we stay at AKL.

There is something very fun about Peter Pan's Flight, and it has become even more special since it was Bella's first Disney ride.

I am just tickled that was Bella's first ride. What was Brooklyn's? I wish I had remembered what Chelsea and Connor's firsts were.

Perhaps I can get over the loss of Maple Custard with the Praline Bread Pudding. In fact, I am pretty sure of it. Is that in Canada, as well?

It says New Orleans, so maybe somewhere near the American Adventure?

Your comment about Charles....Jill and I could cough and say John at that comment. Let's just say I am/we are looking forward to the girls only October trip. ;)

Oh, how I understand! ;)

great updates and pics.

Never been to brown Derby and not quite sure if I want to. I think the grpaefruit cake you can get somewhere else and that would be the only thing I would like to try.

Too bad you canceled CP.

Thank you! I think you can get the grapefruit cake at Starring Rolls -- I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

Don't be so hard on yourself CP. I think all moms have done that one time or another - made an assumption on what the family wanted/needed only to find out that said assumption was incorrect. You still probably did the right thing because kids need their rest while touring long days in the parks. :goodvibes

Thank you, Debra! :goodvibes I just remember how some trips -- by the time we leave at the end of the week -- the kids all have dark circles under their eyes and look like they have been through a war.

Just got in this afternoon and all caught up.

Welcome home!!! Did you have a wonderful time? Are you going to do a TR? Please say yes!

So sorry to hear about the blunder! I'm hoping Connor has another chance to meet up with Baylor.

Sadly, no, since the next day was their last day at Disney :(. We are hoping to meet up again one day though.

I, too, am mourning the loss of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I'm sad that my nephews will never get to experience it.

Disneyland still has theirs! I keep thinking I need to take my two out there to see where it all started. :goodvibes

Question about Boma: Is it better for breakfast? Dinner? Or both?

I like dinner there the best, but both meals are good!

We're beginning to plan our 2010 trip and AKL CL is ranked number 1, followed by the Poly (of course!), and WL. Your TR is convincing me that AKL may be the way to go.

Did you find you used your car to get around? Not sure if we should rent a car if we stay at AKL.

I keep trying to sway Charles to say yes to Disney again next year. I don't want to take a year off.

We used our car once -- to go to DtD -- the rest of the time we used the buses and were very pleased with them.

Arriving in Toon Town just a few moments after 10:00, we headed towards our meeting with Tinker Bell and her friends.

In mid-skip we drew up short. The posted wait time was 60 minutes.

My jaw dropped. Chelsea’s jaw dropped. Connor’s jaw dropped.

We all looked sideways at each other and shuffled our feet, waiting for someone to speak what we were all thinking. (Hint: Every single person in our family has an aversion to waiting.)

The silence was deafening, and I knew, as the mom, I was going to have to be the one to speak up.

Me: Wow! It’s a 60-minute wait. Should we get in line and tough it out?
Connor: It’s up to Chelsea -- I don’t care that much about the fairies.
Chelsea: I don’t really want to wait 60 minutes to meet Tinker Bell.
Me: We will though if you want to, Chelsea. I really don’t mind.
Chelsea: Nah, let’s skip it.

I think we all breathed a little sigh of relief mixed with disappointment -- so much for wearing my Tinker Bell t-shirt. Even as we were standing there hemming and hawing, the posted wait time increased to 75 minutes. Total craziness! Next time, we will come straight to Toon Town and wait for rope drop.

Never one to pass up the chance to browse through a gift shop, we explored County Bounty. This is where I bought my Four Parks, One World CD. Let me just say that I have loved this CD set. It is in our car, and we listen to it all the time -- Grim, Grinning Ghosts, Splash Mountain, It’s a Small World (yes, I love that song), the Enchanted Tiki Room, Spaceship Earth, Soarin’, Impressions de France, the Three Caballeros -- it is all on there and then some!

Then we headed for Mickey and Minnie’s houses -- it had been several years since we had last been through them, so we had a lot of fun playing and posing -- especially in Minnie’s house.

I think this is where I said, “Scoot closer and pretend to like each other!”

I want a bulletin board like Minnie’s!

I giggle every time I see the palm tree!

Chelsea and Connor spied the face painting station as we were leaving Toon Town. It was completely empty of people except for the CMs, and it seemed like the perfect time to stop.

Last year when we did face painting at Animal Kingdom, the kids got a cheetah and a leopard -- this year since we were in the Magic Kingdom, they needed to go with a fantasy theme of some sort. Chelsea chose the Tinker Bell (our very own), and Connor chose a dragon.

Just FYI, don’t sit in one of the empty face painting chairs while waiting on your children. You will get fussed at even if you did just pay $30 total.

Before we headed to Tomorrowland (Chelsea and Connor had hatched a plan), we stopped for another of my favorite rides (according to my mom, it was my favorite even when I was nine months old) -- the teacups!

While we were standing in line, I was trying to get a shot with the dormouse. Clearly, I need to work on that a bit more.

This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. I have it framed and sitting on the windowsill above the kitchen sink.

I told the kids when the cups started, that I was going to let them do all the work and sit back and relax. That didn’t last long as I can never resist spinning our teacup as fast as possible.

UP NEXT: It's a Great, Big, Hot Tomorrowland!

Looks like everyone is posting tonight!! :rotfl:

Hey!!! What a great photo of your two kids!!! how adorable, I understand why you have it framed :goodvibes

The facepainting looks like fun! I may see if either of mine want to do that next trip -- how long does it take? They look great!!

YIKES :scared1: on the fairies!!!! We don't have fairy lovers in my house, needless to say -- now if it were Jack Skellerton, well THAT would be a different story! There have been lots of reports about the mad dash to the fairies!!! I think Chelsea looks very much like Pixie material anyhow!!! ;)

And of course the Tea CUPS!!!

Sounds like this MK day has so far shaped up to be a great morning!!!

I did NOT get to purchase that dang CD, CP!!??!! I did see it at the OKW gift shop on afternoon, then forgot to go get it, and then tried to look for it on my last day on Mainstreet and had blanked out on the name and didn't see it there... SO I missed it! BUT I do see it is on Amazon... not the same, but I want Disney stimulation NOW... I can't wait until Dec!!!

Love the update. The picture of the two face painted and all is just too darling. I totally would not wait that long. I know it was fun and all, but I cannot imagine that type of wait in line.

The CD must be a bit different than mine, you have the updated version... how can I justify getting that?

Great face painting! When you sat in the chair did you mean that they gave you a hard time and didnt want you sitting there? Because for 30 bucks they should have been rubbing your feet!

60 minutes (or 75) for fairies? I'm not a big character person so that is an easy NO in my book!

Oh how I  Minnie's house!

Silly me, I assumed when I saw the pic in your siggie that Connor was of course...a bat! :lmao: Love the Tink face...I would have to get that if I ever get to do MNSSHP

Great update! I love the face painting. I tried to get Danielle to do it but she turned me down. Ya'll look like you're having a blast on the teacups.

Loved, Loved the update Jackie!!!

I think I would have made the exact same decision...I'm not a waiter and 60 minutes would have been a long time to wait!!

Love the face painting and the picture of them in the teacups is just amazing!! That would have been a keeper choice for me too!!!!

Glad you guys had a great morning at MK!!

I'm on a mission to find that CD when I go in the fall I want to listen to all the songs (except IASW LOL...that song can only be listened to once and I'd better be in a boat with a certain gnome LOL)!!!

It looks like you had a great time on those teacups! Very cute pictures of all three of you...

75 minutes for the fairies is a big no in my book as well.
Are you guys going to MNSSHP? If so you really should do the face paint, you would look adoreable!

I'm not surprised at all by the fairy wait time. Wouldn't it be great if you could FP the fairy line? Your own personal Tinkerbell is awfully cute, though. I agree with you and all of the other posters who just love the tea cup picture of the kids.:lovestruc The picture of you is awfully cute, too. Who was the photographer?

You got some great pics in Minnie's house! I want a bulletin board like Minnie's too (only not shelacked;))!

Totally love the "palm" tree :rotfl:

The kids face paintings are amazing! I love the picture of them on the tea cups too! Total bummer about the fairy wait line..I guess that's always one good thing about Disney..there's ALWAYS something new to do next trip! :goodvibes

Love the face paint! I dabble in face painting at events at our school so I admire the work!
That long to meet the fairies huh? I would not want to wait either. I'm good for about 20 minutes and then I get antsy!
And I am going to check out that CD! That would be a great souvenir to carry one through the long days between trips!
Allyson :)

To see the Fairies in a reasonable time, rope drop is a must. They are some popular girls! We were there at rope drop, and seeing the Fairies was a great experience. They were so interactive with the girls - lots of silliness!

The kids' faces are cool!

I like the Teacups, but I'm not much of a spinner. I like to try to get the mouse popping up, too, but you just have to shoot, shoot, shoot, and hope you capture him.

Between wigd's Main Street pictures and your Teacups pictures, I'm dreaming of being in Magic Kingdom this morning!

Awww, it was fun seeing your signature line photo larger!!!:goodvibes I can't believe they gave you grief about sitting in the chair?!

You all looked like you were having so much fun in the teacups!

Looking forward to tomorrowland!!

LOVE the face painting!!!! I hope my kids want to do that, Chelsea looks gorgeous, and Connor's dragon is so cool! I'm with you guys on skipping the fairies, I don't think I could wait an hour to meet anyone. We love the teacups too, except for DH, who's not much of a spinner. Or a rider at all, for that matter. :confused3 Why am I bringing him again - oh yeah, he has the wallet!;)

Great update!! All I keep reading is how long the wait is for Tinker Bell is soooo long! Sorry you guys had to miss it!

Also, where is that store, County Bounty? I would LOVE to get the CD you spoke of:thumbsup2

Love the face paint....so sad that you missed out on Tinkerbell though!!!! Better luck next time!

Too bad you missed out on Tinkerbell but there is always the next trip! :goodvibes

I love the teacup picture too, very very cute. It really conveys the Disney Magic. :cloud9:
