Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

Great update. We had an eight oclock ressie at Tusker house but when we canceled, rescheduled, and reschedueled again, we lost it. :headache:

Still on my must do next time list.

Your breakfast at TH sounds so good! We did the Restaurantsaurus and enjoyed the time, but not the food so much. We'll have to put this one on the list when our babies are with us! I'm glad Charles did better later in the day - that blood sugar stuff really stinks sometimes.:headache:

We haven't been to the Tusker House since they redid it and we have breakfast ressies for August-can't wait after reading your report!!

I always talk louder to the characters also-kind of like they are children who speak a foreign language....:rotfl2:...wow you really have to time your eating with those characters arriving-huh?

I am sorry for Charles...:sad2:we have a friend whose had diabetes since he was 18 and it can be a real challenge for him to keep it steady and he is a very healthy eater=it's just tricky-it's also tricky for the family too-his daughter also asked about daddy's blood sugar from the time she was 7 or so...

Glad to hear he got better...:flower3:

more trip please...popcorn::

CP I thought about you yesterday when Hannah and I were in Target. LOL You know how they have those CD displays and you can push the picture and hear a sample of the music? Well Hannah mashed one yesterday and was dancing in front of the display. I caught the music she was listening to and had to see the title of the CD. It was "Rhythm of Africa". I loved it so much I bought it! :rotfl:

I can just picture walking through the AK hearing this music or hearing it playing in the lobby of AKL. So, if you want to take a trip back I highly recommend this CD.

Good Gravy, Jackie, what a long line of posters you have here...

You should consider instituting FastPost!! :lmao:

Sorry for Charles and the hypoglycemia incident... at least the waiter hopped to it and got him juice right away. Perhaps Charles should always keep a piece of hard candy in his pocket for emergencies!!

I am seriously considering the early morning Tusker House Breakfast for one of our ADRs.... we've been to Donald's Breakfastosaurus, but never TH.

Looking forward to more, etc.

Kathy

I have been taught to never speak for somebody else, but since MeMom is in a workshop today....let me save her the trouble when she gets back..... I would think it wasn't the NAME so much, but just that they carry that "male" gene!!!

You welcome MeMom :thumbsup2.......hope you had a wonderful day and got a lot of reading done!!!

Is he trying to stir up trouble again??? ;)

It was a long day, but we got through it. It was too interactive for me to be able to get any reading done, unfortunately. The teacher I went with is leaving to go out west next week, and she had her travel guide, too.
But, alas, neither of us got to do any travel dreaming. :sad2:

Miss Jackie - I have a before park opening ADR for Tusker House on Sunday October 4th, I made the ressie for 2 people....would you care to join me???

Love Connor's shirt!

Thank you! I was so excited when I found it -- we love The Jungle Book at our house.

Poor Charles for leaving but then poor you guys for having to do without him.

It was too bad that he had to leave, but sometimes we get to do things he normally would complain about. :rolleyes1

Cracked up about the talking to fur creatures loudly. I do too.

Glad I am not the only one!

However, as a Donald fan I felt it necessary to point out that he is of the feathered covered variety.

Good point! :lmao:

Great update. Kudos to the waiter for getting Charles the juice quickly. Loved the full mouths pictures with the characters, we've been having that same problem this week : )
Lesley

Hi, Lesley! It was a bit of a nail-biter when we saw how low his blood sugar was before the juice and food -- I kept having visions of him keeling over at the table! Yes, my kids could barely stop eating to pose. :rotfl:

Breakfast looked so yummy!!! I'm trying to stay off the boards b/c I have to wash and pack but I couldn't resist your update! ;)

It was very yummy! I bet you are on your way even as I type this! I hope you have a wonderful time down there! :goodvibes

I am new to DIS (and hoping I am doing this right) but wanted to let you know I am thoroughly enjoying reading your TR! :flower3: We just returned from Disney 6/26 and it was our best family vacation!

:welcome: to the DIS and my trip report! We have the best time down at Disney! Where did you stay?

oh, I absolutely LOVE AKL. I have stayed there once 2 years ago. We go to Boma every year. If I ever join the DVC when I am older, AKLV is where I shall be at home <3.

Zebra domes, YUM. I must get them every year. When we go to Boma, afterwards I must go to the food place and buy them to take back to our resort.

If we join DVC, AKL is definitely where we would buy! We just loved it there!

Boma and zebra domes are two of my favorite things about AKL!

great update! i love the tusker house. so did donald ever come back? we got dissed by goofy there and it still ticks me off when i think about it!

Thanks! I would still be ticked, too, about Goofy ignoring you all! Shame on him! :headache:

They are South Beach Protein Bars - 140 calories, 10 g protein 15g carb
They are not a long term fix but they do help and buy time when you are in a bind! I don't go anywhere without them. They come in alot of flavors. The cranberry almond is my favorite!

Good to know -- thanks! :thumbsup2

Wow, you sure do miss a lot quickly around here. I have an almost 7 year old Conor and the episode in CHH sounds exactly like him. He probably would not have even been distracted by going to the topping bar. He has a thing about smells and he also breaks down if he gets in trouble. Maybe it's in the name.

I think it must be the name! :lmao:

I have been taught to never speak for somebody else, but since MeMom is in a workshop today....let me save her the trouble when she gets back..... I would think it wasn't the NAME so much, but just that they carry that "male" gene!!!

BD, what are we going to do with you? :rolleyes1

I hope you are working on another update soon CP, I think I hear Shocker tossing stuff around out there in the wagon????

I figured I would post another update tomorrow before the Fourth of July craziness begins! Hopefully I will make it in time before Shocker emerges from the wagon.

Duhhhh after posting yesterday about Tusker House I realized this morning that I ate there in January!!:lmao: My 19yr old niece and I stopped in for lunch (she has fibromyalgia and needs to take breaks----me I just like to eat!!) and I wish I knew about the jungle juice...it's appropriate at any meal!!
Tracy

Yes, according to Chelsea, the juice is good at both breakfast and dinner! :thumbsup2

More replies on the previous page!

Thank you! Thank goodness for the next-time list, right??? I know I am always adding things to ours.

It was very good -- both food and characters!

Yes, keeping his blood sugar levels regulated is sometimes frustrating.

We haven't been to the Tusker House since they redid it and we have breakfast ressies for August-can't wait after reading your report!!

You'll love it -- especially because it features many of the same things as the Boma breakfast!

I always talk louder to the characters also-kind of like they are children who speak a foreign language....:rotfl2:...wow you really have to time your eating with those characters arriving-huh?

Yes, that is exactly how I feel when I am talking to the fur characters! :lmao:

Charles usually does okay, but this trip was a bit sticky at times.

more trip please...popcorn::

The plan is to update tomorrow before everyone disappears for the holiday weekend.

Oh, I totally need to check out the CD at Target -- I need to head there anyway for a new shower curtain -- I am currently redoing my bathroom in "Shades of Africa" and need a new shower curtain to tie everything together -- that CD will probably be coming home with me as I miss the music that was always playing at AKL!

Good Gravy, Jackie, what a long line of posters you have here...

You should consider instituting FastPost!! :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: FastPost! Love it! Don't forget I have links straight to my updates on the second post.

Sorry for Charles and the hypoglycemia incident... at least the waiter hopped to it and got him juice right away. Perhaps Charles should always keep a piece of hard candy in his pocket for emergencies!!

Unfortunately when it drops, it drops a lot -- I think it was about 50 that morning, so hard candy doesn't usually cut it. :(

I am seriously considering the early morning Tusker House Breakfast for one of our ADRs.... we've been to Donald's Breakfastosaurus, but never TH.

Looking forward to more, etc.

Kathy

You should try Tusker House -- it is a lot of fun!

:lmao: "Fastpost" how funny!:lmao:

Kathy may be onto something!

Is he trying to stir up trouble again??? ;)

Yes, he is!

It was a long day, but we got through it. It was too interactive for me to be able to get any reading done, unfortunately. The teacher I went with is leaving to go out west next week, and she had her travel guide, too.
But, alas, neither of us got to do any travel dreaming. :sad2:

I think I dislike interactive workshops more than regular ones. I don't like having to play games and do "fake" lesson plans.

Miss Jackie - I have a before park opening ADR for Tusker House on Sunday October 4th, I made the ressie for 2 people....would you care to join me???

Oh, Heidi! I would love to be able to do that, but even if I were able to come, Sunday would have to be my departure day and I wouldn't be able to do a park that day. :sad1:

You'll get some awesome photos of Animal Kingdom that morning! :goodvibes

I think she should! I think she should!!!! :thumbsup2

Are you being a temptress again, Jen?

Tusker house looks great! We're doing breakfast there in Sept - DD(5) is a huge Daisy fan, so how could we not?? Looking forward to the next update!:goodvibes

Just on a whim I decided to check Tusker House breakfast ADR's for our AK day in September (September 22nd) - Nothing, nada, zip!

Jackie, I know what your up to today. Ive been surfing the boards and I am on to you. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

However, I do notice that no matter where all you women are from, you do tend to hang together and are very supportive of one another!! I am sure MeMom appreciates you confirming her "accusations", Jackie. I on the other hand.........will need a little quiet time, to ponder what exactly I did wrong, before I can just move on, accepting my lot in life and pretending nothing happened!!! :headache:

Oh and my apologies for my delayed response, but my FastPost return time wasn't until 3 o'clock!! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Jackie this has been buggin me all day. First Charles was too tired to go to MK, then he had to leave AK early. Then I remembered that your siggie has a pic of you, two of the kids, and a giraffe, but no Charles. So I have been pondering... why isn't Charles in your siggie? Please don't tell me he had to go home early or that you replaced him with the giraffe. Is he still on the savannah somewhere?

Goodness your TR is popular-I can't even keep up with the chit chat! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

That is just awful about Charles' blood sugar - now I'm beginning to understand why he enjoyed those AKL pillows so much. :guilty: At least he made it to breakfast though. The pictures of Connor and Chelsea with their mouths full are hilarious. Kinda sad to see them grow up from last years trip though...more concerned about the food! :guilty: And I LOVE that Connor offered Mickey a potato. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am going to aim for a Tusker House breakfast in December. I don't think I could do opening and getting up at 5 am, but might do something pretty early. :goodvibes I love the pictures of the park that you took-so, so pretty-AK is my favorite!

Oh-and you made me laugh out loud at your commentary on how you speak to the fur animals! :lmao: Do you speak more slowly too? :lmao: ;) I bet you aren't alone in doing that though!

That sounds cool! Hope you'll post some pictures when you're done. :goodvibes Although not a park CD it would be a perfect addition to your collection. You could play it while showering in your "Shades of Africa" bathroom! :rotfl:
