Divas, Zebra Domes, and Pixie Dust! A Week in an African Paradise! New TR Link Pg.145

Lots of other replies on the previous page!

Girl you crack me up!

I try! I was pretty sure it was the first one until Donald walked away and then I thought, well, maybe he was just saying he had to keep going! LOL!

I'm now worried. You said you didn't see a lot of Charles on this trip and I'm wondering if blood sugar issues continue :confused3

That was part of it, but not all of it.

I'm not normally a big breakfast eater but there sure is something about a Disney breakfast that makes me think (maybe) I could change my mind about food in the morning

At home, I hardly eat breakfast, but on vacation we do a lot of breakfasts. Have to get our energy up for the day!

I wish for Connor's sake that you had realized his CS credits could be used for an adult meal. we did this a lot with our CS meals but most often, we bought 3 adult meals for the 4 of us. The boys (who are pretty light eaters) would share a meal and have some of mine if they needed. This left us with enough credits for 5 CS meals instead of 4 so we had lunch covered on the last day. I know the next time we take them we will more likely be in the situation of them not being able to get enough to eat! (darn those cute little boys of ours growing up without permission!)

I know it! Why can't they stay little and cute forever! My nephew turns 13 tomorrow and I just can't wrap my mind around it!

great update Jackie!!

I so so so want to go to AK in the morning before rope drop!! How beautiful! I may have to look into a early morning breakfast there

Paula

Thank you! Yes, do an early morning breakfast -- the photo opportunities are the best!

Oooo....early morning pics from an almost empty Animal Kingdom! :yay::yay::yay:

You know how I love those, right?

And you know how much this makes me want to eat at Tusker House, right? Look at how much fun you all are having!

Except for Charles. He can't catch a break, can he? My husband's last boss was diabetic, so we know how scary it can be when those levels drop. I hope the day picks up for him. :goodvibes

I thought of you when I was posting the pictures this morning. :goodvibes

I'm telling you, TK, you should think about a Tusker House breakfast!

I did feel sorry for Charles that morning -- it is always a little scary when those levels drop.

Another great update CP. Even though I really thought touring the parks doing CS was a great way for us to go on our first trip......I do have to admit that in the future just about any breakfast IN the parks before it opens is a winner.......and with Characters a real, win-win!!!

Yes, character breakfasts first thing in the morning is a good thing. ;)

Well, it doesn't look like Charles will need to me stand up and say, BUT...at least not on this outing!! I like everyone else am hopeful that he is able to get his blood sugar regulated and that it doesn't continue to be an issue for him all week.

Nope, this time Charles has a legitimate reason for disappearing.

OH, and thanks for getting MeMom out of trouble (though I'm not sure she is completely out of trouble just yet!!)

Yes, she is out of trouble. I am declaring it officially.

and giving us the update before Shocker dug deeper down into that trailer of his and unloaded something else to play with!!!! :rolleyes1

Yes, thank heavens I updated before we saw what else is in Shocker's trailer!!

Poor Charles! I hope that he feels better and is able to meet up with you guys!

Early morning at AK looks just lovely! And that breakfast sounds delicious eventhough I'm not a breakfast eater generally.

:rotfl: at the picture of Connor with the potato in his hand for Mickey. :rotfl:

I was also going to comment on how color coordinated and AK appropriate the kids' outfits are. :thumbsup2

You are so cute talking loudly to the characters! :goodvibes

Charles does rejoin us.

Our early morning breakfasts at Animal Kingdom are quickly becoming one of my favorite Disney memories!

Connor cracked me up with that potato!

Can you believe it just happened that way with the clothes? Maybe we have been doing this for so long that it just happens naturally!

In the back of my mind, I was thinking, "I can't believe I am talking loudly and slowly to Donald as if he can't understand English."

I like your early morning AKL pics alot.. Its soo crazy seeing parks empty esp in person.. I am super excited to get to the AKL... Like 3 years ago when I first learned about AKL and what it was. It was my dream to get there. Being a young 'kid' I had no money to afford it.. But, the summer special rates means the AKL room is 159$ a nite.. WOOOOT I can afford that and BAMN dream comes true.. Did I mention my bday week was the lowest rate week out of all the summer. I really lucked out.. I hope I didnt ramble too much.. Keep your report comings its great..

I am so happy that you are going to get to stay at AKL -- if you are like me it will surpass your expectations!!! :cloud9:

Awww!! I love your Tusker House pics! So Donald really didn't come back to your table? I thought they kept track of which characters saw which tables. That stinks! And sorry your hubby had blood sugar issues. That's no fun!

Thank you! Nope, Donald didn't come back -- if we had stayed a little bit longer, he might have, but we were ready to go have fun! :thumbsup2

Let's stay focused on the giraffe holding the Africa sign, please!!!

:rotfl:

Besides that, I've been nice all day.
And tomorrow, I have a workshop all day, so I will not be here to say anything harmful. :)

I missed you today, MeMom, and now you tell me you won't be around tomorrow either. :(

What nice children not to open their mouths full of food. Tell them it is much appreciated by the viewing audience.

I haven't done this breakfast yet, but it's on my long list of things to get around to.

:rotfl: I told Chelsea to show her teeth in the picture with Daisy -- she shook her head no and it took me a couple of seconds to realize she wasn't going to show teeth because she had scrambled eggs crammed in there. :lmao:

Sounds like a yummy way to start your Sunday!

Very yummy!

Sorry about Charles not feeling well. Poor guy.

I felt bad for him, too.

I love that you speak loudly to the fur characters. I think I may do the same thing now that you mention it. I have a kind of soft voice anyway - so hopefully it just comes out at a normal volume level.

Looking forward to the next update. popcorn::

 I have a "teacher" voice that can project to the back of the room over 30 middle schoolers talking so the people at the other tables probably wondered what I was doing. :rotfl:

I need to put breakfast at Tusker house on ;my to do list for next time. It would be nice to enjoy walking into AK instead of being sucked into the mass of humanity that carries you along wether you want to go or not.

I hope Charles was feeling better soon!

:lmao: Yes, the same mass of humanity that sucks you towards Soarin' at Epcot.

Charles did feel better later on.

thanks for the reply- I guess I will have to troll Ebay in search of that shirt! when my DS was about 2 he watched Jungle Book for the first time and fell in love with the elephants- especially the song "Colonel Hatties March" my DH and I had to listen to that over and over and over and over ....well you get it- but every time he heard it his eyes would light up and he would have the biggest, cheesiest smile like it was the very first time he was hearing it. we actually found the CD/soundtrack and also I dont know if you remember the little music box thingy that you could buy with the kid/hit Clips for it- Disney made one and it had the Jungle book songs- he would carry that thing everywhere and would sing " in a Miritaly Style". oh man I miss those days!! I am truly loving this report- a little sad though because DH said he is done with Disney for a while which breaks my heart.....so I will live vicariously through yours and all the other wonderful ones I reading simultaneously.....including MeMoms, Brooklynnsmommy's PTR and so many other ones. If I cant go then this is the next best thing!

I searched all through that darn trailer and I could not find anything suitable for her update.....

I will try harder tomorrow.....:thumbsup2

That's right, dangle a little hope out there, that if she is very, very careful in her wording she may keep you at bay!!! :sad2:

Tusker House is some of the best food in all of Disney! My kids would like to eat there every morning! Your pictures turned out really good! Too bad your hubby didn't feel good. My dad is diabetic too. Something about Disney messes with his blood sugar levels too.

I feel badly that Charles got sick due to his blood sugar and had to go back.....hope he makes a reappearance soon!!!! You are making me so hungry for that ressie....I am still hoping to get lucky and get that coveted early morning ressie.....we shall see!!!!

Yaaah to the update, boooh to the low blood sugars. I absolutely hate when my sugar drops. Even once I bring it back up I still seem to drag for several hours after wards. I was very lucky this didnt happen to me at disney. Hope he got to feeling better later, can't wait to hear more. fyi the box to send the computer off didnt come today, well on tuesday. But it should be there on wednesday, so I will be with out computer access until Thursday, oh not to bad. But I'll be sooo much happier when I have mine back.

I missed you today, MeMom, and now you tell me you won't be around tomorrow either. :(

Nope; I've got to go make some more Disney dollars.
I'm taking my Birnbaum's with me. I'll be taking notes, alright, just not the kind they think I'm taking.

That is too cute about your DS and The Jungle Book! I remember Chelsea going through similar phases with movies -- hers were Toy Story and A Bug's Life -- I think I know both of those by heart!

Maybe you will be able to wear DH down and get another trip soon!

:scared: For some reason this scares me!

BD, I have a feeling there is no keeping Shocker at bay when he decides to do something.

Thank you! Yes, I think my kids would be happy eating there every morning as well! We have had good luck in the past with Charles' blood sugar levels but there were a couple of nail-biting times this trip.

I do hope you are able to snag a ressie -- keep trying!!! :goodvibes

That's Charles -- even after bringing up his blood sugar, he is usually drained physically for awhile. He does meet back up with us later on!

Being without a computer is a pain -- I know sometimes I get irritated when the kids are on and I can't get near it.

Nope; I've got to go make some more Disney dollars.
I'm taking my Birnbaum's with me. I'll be taking notes, alright, just not the kind they think I'm taking.

Making Disney dollars is always a good thing -- especially with all those great souvenirs waiting down there in Florida.

I take guidebooks to workshops as well. Sometimes I just need to escape the endless droning. :lmao:

Love Connor's shirt!

Poor Charles for leaving but then poor you guys for having to do without him.

Cracked up about the talking to fur creatures loudly. I do too.

However, as a Donald fan I felt it necessary to point out that he is of the feathered covered variety.

Great update. Kudos to the waiter for getting Charles the juice quickly. Loved the full mouths pictures with the characters, we've been having that same problem this week : )
Lesley

Breakfast looked so yummy!!! I'm trying to stay off the boards b/c I have to wash and pack but I couldn't resist your update! ;)

I am new to DIS (and hoping I am doing this right) but wanted to let you know I am thoroughly enjoying reading your TR! :flower3: We just returned from Disney 6/26 and it was our best family vacation!

oh, I absolutely LOVE AKL. I have stayed there once 2 years ago. We go to Boma every year. If I ever join the DVC when I am older, AKLV is where I shall be at home <3.

Zebra domes, YUM. I must get them every year. When we go to Boma, afterwards I must go to the food place and buy them to take back to our resort.

great update! i love the tusker house. so did donald ever come back? we got dissed by goofy there and it still ticks me off when i think about it!

Connor is so dramatic! :sad2:

What kind of protein bars? That's a good idea -- do they have a lot of carbs in them?

They are South Beach Protein Bars - 140 calories, 10 g protein 15g carb
They are not a long term fix but they do help and buy time when you are in a bind! I don't go anywhere without them. They come in alot of flavors. The cranberry almond is my favorite!

Wow, you sure do miss a lot quickly around here. I have an almost 7 year old Conor and the episode in CHH sounds exactly like him. He probably would not have even been distracted by going to the topping bar. He has a thing about smells and he also breaks down if he gets in trouble. Maybe it's in the name.

I have been taught to never speak for somebody else, but since MeMom is in a workshop today....let me save her the trouble when she gets back..... I would think it wasn't the NAME so much, but just that they carry that "male" gene!!!

You welcome MeMom :thumbsup2.......hope you had a wonderful day and got a lot of reading done!!!

I hope you are working on another update soon CP, I think I hear Shocker tossing stuff around out there in the wagon????

Duhhhh after posting yesterday about Tusker House I realized this morning that I ate there in January!!:lmao: My 19yr old niece and I stopped in for lunch (she has fibromyalgia and needs to take breaks----me I just like to eat!!) and I wish I knew about the jungle juice...it's appropriate at any meal!!
