Oh, and I wanted to ask what everyone has planned for Easter. It's two weeks from this Sunday and I know the time is going to go by fast.
So come on, let's hear it. I know some of you clever, crafty, types who are also amazing bakers/chefs have some wonderful and yummy things planned for your families already. ;)

I'm looking for fun ideas and yummy recipes if any of you would like to share. I usually make a big breakfast after we do the egg hunt because that's my family's favorite meal, but I'm thinking of doing a lunch this year. We don't eat ham though and that seems to be the most common item served. :confused3

Also I have to get working on the clues to their baskets. I always make them do a little hunt for their baskets before we hunt for eggs. They love it, but after 3 years here I am running out of hiding places! :rotfl:

Morning all!!

Gosh yesterday at swim was crazy!! We were all sitting out there and were bundled up like we were in Alaska LOL. Everyone had on big winter coats and scarves and people brought big blankets. There were these big ugly black clouds and I guess where we were we never got it real bad but I guess just south of us they got some major hail and such and snow up north. All I know where I was the wind was up and it was FREEZING lol. Luckily the girls didn't get any rain till RIGHT as we left and then it was hailing and even had some sleet/slush. CRAZY!!

Today the sun is back but it is pretty chilly outside. I hate to say it but I was really loving the warm and really don't want to go back to the cold. The girls were wearing their capris and T-s and even shorts a few days and NOT wanting to go back to sweaters and jeans LOL.

Anywho Shane hopefully finished up his night job last night. He had to go in and do some fixes on it. He thought he was done with it on Wed night and so came home and slept and then got up around 9:30 thinking he would be able to sleep last night and then in the afternoon they called and said they needed him to work again :( So he went in last night but was home by 12 instead of having to work till 3 so it wasn't TOO bad except that he had to work TODAY again at 4 so I am sure he was not thrilled about that LOL.

Luckily we have nothing going on tonight or tomorrow so hopefully we can ALL catch up on some much needed sleep this weekend. We have a bunch of stuff coming up soon and not too much longer before the dreaded swim meets and having to get up at 5 on Saturdays. BLEH!! ;)

Beth I am looking foward to spring break as well!! Esp the not having to get up part!! ;)

The one thing I KNOW we are hopefully going to do is mom is going to take them (and me ;) ) to see Rio for Shelby's birthday so I am looking forward to that and not sure what else because we still have to go to swim practice and I still have to work a few days so prob not too much but it will be nice to not have school at least! :)

Anyway I am off to work today so hope everyone has a GREAT day!! :)

Good morning ladies! :goodvibes
I only had time to read back a few pages. :upsidedow

Steph, The biggest of hugs and prayers to you.:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

My grandson Rowen is having his birthday party here today. It's supposed to be a four wheel "Quad" party. The guys have made a little bike track and set up a fire pit to roast hot dogs. Hopefully the rain stays away today!!!! :headache:

Luca's first birthday party is tomorrow! :cloud9:

Still working on those "Quiet Books." :faint:

Have a wonderful weekend. :flower3:

Steph - Big hugs :grouphug: Hopefully the figure out what's up very quickly. I'll keep my fingers crossed that your family trip is still a go. That's a great way to unwind!

Only if by "support" you mean "encourage others to pick up this addiction so I have more people to trade with". Then I'm all game :lmao:

Sounds good to me :thumbsup2

Well, you know how those Canadians are. :rolleyes1

What, you mean we're a cheesecake lovin bunch :confused3

I had a nice visit last night with Angie and her husband. He's a sweetie and they are so cute together!! :goodvibes And yes, the cheesecake was delish. ;)

See, cheesecake is delish!!

Well, you're more creative than I am with the clues. I just put Jesse's stuff in a basket and put it out for him to grab in the morning. We (by "we" I mean "me") actually do a turkey dinner (my boys would have a mutiny if I did something other than turkey dinner pirate:). It's their all time fave and it is super good (if I do say so myself :upsidedow). Which reminds me, I have to go out and get a turkey..............

Melody - have a great time at the birthday parties!!

Happy Friday

Beth I am looking foward to spring break as well!! Esp the not having to get up part!! ;)
Yep! I love sleeping in until 8 instead of waking up at 6-something. And I love the no homework part. I swear, some days I feel like I am going to school all over again!!

Hi Mel!
Rowen's party sounds like it's going to be a blast, and the perfect theme for a little boy. ::yes:: Here's hoping for no rain!!
And happy early birthday to Luca. Wow, that went by fast!

What is a "Quiet Book"?

Get me one too, ok? And while you're at it, can you just cook it, add some sides, and deliver it to my house. I believe you've got my address. Thanks! :thumbsup2

The kids love the clues. I did it one year on a whim and it was such a hit that every year since they ask for it. :)

For all the Divas participating in Mouse Adventure this week-end, have a GREAT time!!! And kick some serious booty! We are all cheering for ya!!!!

It sprinkled a bit last night on my way down to the Strip. I hope it does more today. It's pretty cloudy and grey out there right now and I love it! Hopefully the rain will show up soon.
BETH - you so need to get up here. 17 inches of rain so far this year. :sad2:

STEPH - Luv ya girlfriend!

DIVINE DIVAS - :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Is it February yet? I miss everyone!!

Good morning ladies! :goodvibes

You make me feel lazy, Auntie Mel!

Have fun at the birthday parties, I'll send some sunny vibes your way. :sunny:

What, you mean we're a cheesecake lovin bunch :confused3

I love cheesecake, does that make me Canadian, eh?

Yep! I love sleeping in until 8 instead of waking up at 6-something. And I love the no homework part. I swear, some days I feel like I am going to school all over again!!

I was all excited for my spring break, then I realized the only difference I will have is that I don't have to go to campus. I have tons and tons of papers to write and I still have to go to work. Oh well, one of these days I'll get a break. :thumbsup2

Where have I been? I didn't even know there was a Mouse Adventure this weekend. I'm hoping I'll get a chance to do another one soon, they're so fun. Good luck to all the divas participating this weekend. I'll be cheering you all on from the comfort of my bed.

Is it February yet? I miss everyone!!

I miss everyone too! Come on February, hurry up! :yay:

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday! Luckily I haven't had many calls at work this morning, so I'm actually able to get my work done!

Hi girls!

Just a quick drive-by to see what's up and so I don't have quite so much to catch up on tonight.

Beth for Easter we are going to my brother's house. We usually have ham and lasagna as the main parts of the meal. I usually bring cupcakes or some type of dessert. I was reading somewhere here on the Dis about doughnut muffins. I saved the link that was posted, thank goodness, because I was thinking of making them Easter morning for breakfast. They sound yummy. http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/doughnut-muffins-recipe

Mel the quad party sounds like such a fun idea! Hope the weather cooperates.

Good luck Mouse Adventure Divas! :cheer2::wizard:

Karyl ..17" of rain!! Good grief.

Have an awesome Friday ladies!

My family enjoyed eating at Viva La Pasta last Easter that we are going there again. The buffet has a huge assortment of food, a BBQ going outside with 4 or 5 different items, and the desserts !!:cheer2:
After lunch we go to my brothers house and will exchange family goodie baskets.
As for hiding places for your kids baskets, have you used the kitchen trash can yet?

I usually do the clues/treasure hunt thing for Colton's basket too but generally it leads him outside..Looks like this year it will be an all indoor treasure hunt,.. might have to do the egg hunt inside if we don't get some serious sun to finish melting the snow and dry up the mud...how am I going to keep the dogs and cats from "finding" the eggs yikes! I guess I will have to write 2 sets of clues just in case we can get outside.

As far as food.. breakfast on Easter is generally my Applesauce cake and hard boiled eggs because Colton can't wait to start peeling and eating those eggs! Dinner is Ham & A Salmon loaf & hot cross buns every year, however I am currently looking for side dish recipes since I traditionally use Easter to try new ones every year that can be used for BBQs and picnics all summer long. (last years winner was a shrimp & avocado salad really simple & super yummy!) The one thing that must be made on Easter or my boys would revolt is deviled eggs!

Steph- big hugs to you! I'm sorry you are going through a rough time.

Melody- good to see you! What are "quiet books?"

Trudi- there is a Viva La Pasta close to me. I don't eat there too often but the food is just so-so to me. It's a nice place though. :)

No idea what I am doing for Easter. My parents are going out of the country and are taking my little sister with them. She will be on spring break. I told her that her mission is to find me awesome Domo stuff. lol. They have TONS and TONS of Domo stuff overseas and it's so much cheaper than here. I find stuff here but it's expensive because of the importing fees. The stuff overseas is much cuter too. :rotfl: I told her to bring a big suitcase! :rotfl: They also have cute Disney stuff. :) I hope she can find stuff for me.

I may go down to SD and hang out with my older sister and play with Bryson(my sister's dog) :) He's so cute and growing taller. I'm going to look for a new dog bed for him because the other day he chewed it open and ripped out all the stuffing. :sad2:

I'm really happy because I discovered that a new series of Domo figures came out. I was ecstatic and it's only exclusive to one store. They come in blind boxes and I started collecting them for the past 2 years. Here are the ones I got:

2011-04-08_13-17-49_964.jpg

I love them and it's fun to collect these. The downside is that if I get repeats, I can't trade them like vinylmations. I did find groups online that love Domo and take pics of him like I do. :) It's really fun.

I'm so sleepy right now....I went to Souplantation with my co-workers and I'm stuffed. :faint: I didn't eat that much but the chili was really filling.

Hope you guys have a good day. I am debating if I will go down to DL this weekend. I have one vinylmation that I want to trade away. I got one from the Urban series and didn't like it. Then I traded it on D Street and got Quasimodo. :P Then I traded it again and got this 2010 New Year's baby and I don't like it. :rotfl: I hope I can trade it for something cute! :rotfl:

BETH - you so need to get up here. 17 inches of rain so far this year. :sad2:
I'm sorry you've almost needed an Ark this past year, but it still sounds good to me! We got a few sprinkles last night, and now nothing.

You make me feel lazy, Auntie Mel!
Lazy?? You?? Look at all those running banners in your sig! How could you possibly feel lazy! :cheer2:

I've never heard of doughnut muffins. I like doughnuts though and I like mufins sooooo...........I'd probably love 'em! I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

The BBQ sounds good. Maybe we'll go out to eat instead. :scratchin By the time I spend the money buying all the ingredients to cook a meal, it's almost as much as it would be to eat out. Hmm, something to think about. And bonus......no clean up! :thumbsup2

I have not used the trash can! What a clever idea! I'll have to make sure to empty the trash and put a clean bag in first. :lmao:

I hope you get a heat wave that melts all the snow and makes the mud go away. I remember when we lived in MI once that snow started to melt, ugh, it was a messy, muddy, swampy mess around our house for days on end!!

Would you believe none of my kids like hard boiled eggs??? So no deviled eggs here, no egg salad sandwiches either. In fact, usually all the eggs we color end up going to waste. :sad2: I hate it.

Poor Beth. Hard boiled eggs, deviled eggs, and egg salad sandwiches are yummy! Love the egg sales at Easter time.

That's the one were going to, in Wood Ranch. I think their Easter Brunch is probably better than their regular menu items. You are more than welcome to join us. We believe in "the more the merrier!' We have ressies at 1:00pm.

Hey ladies! Sitting here watching the snow flurries after a great day of skiing. We got 16-18 inches last night and it was wonderful snow today - cold but fun! Sat in the hotub in the snow to relax these old muscles!

We are ending our spring break so back to reality next week. We spend Easter with a large group of friends for a great brunch with my favorite - eggs Benedict made with freshly laid eggs! Mimosas, asparagus, assorted salads - yummy!

Beth - so sorry your kids don't like eggs - not sure I could ever give them up!

Have a great weekend everyone. And good luck to the divas at MA! :cheer2:

:wave2:

My Easter will hopefully be spent sleeping. All day. I work overnight into Sunday every week and then ahve to get back on the right schedule again. Fun, huh?

So sad your kids don't like eggs.. wow we will be eating egg salad for days after easter the deviled eggs will be gone 10 minutes after I make them (no matter how many I make). Hard boiled eggs are Colton's favorite after school snack! My girls though when they were little Amy only ate egg whites and Kari only ate egg yolks so they balanced each other out.

Nothing like fresh eggs right? The only thing I do with store bought eggs anymore is hard boil them they just aren't the same. Easter is the only time of year my dozen chickens can't keep up with the demand of my family, my sisters family & my Mom so thank goodness there are Egg sales this time of year.

So Jess I know you will be sleeping but doesn't your Mom do an Easter meal while you are sleeping?

They like eggs, just not hard boiled. Only scrambled or fried. I told them if they weren't going to eat all those hard boiled eggs maybe we should find something else to decorate. Maybe make sugar cookies in egg shapes and frost them or something. I just hate tossing all those eggs each year. Your Easter sounds like it will be fun and delicious!

Also sounds like you are having a great time! Glad to hear you are getting some good skiiing and hot tubbing time in. :thumbsup2

Well, that's no fun. You'll have to dream about chocolate bunnies. :cloud9:

I honestly don't know. Easter's never been a big thing in our family. Nothing is ringing a bell at least, lol.
