Nothing like fresh eggs right? The only thing I do with store bought eggs anymore is hard boil them they just aren't the same. Easter is the only time of year my dozen chickens can't keep up with the demand of my family, my sisters family & my Mom so thank goodness there are Egg sales this time of year.
LOL Your poor chickens! I had this image of them scrambling to produce eggs while you are all standing around waiting. :rotfl:

When we lived in MI we had all our extended family there, so they'd all come over to my house to color eggs. It was so fun! And we had dozens and dozens of eggs. They were cheaper there than here though. The cheapest I find them here is around 99 cents a dozen. In MI at Easter time we'd find deals where they were 39 cents. Not sure why they are so much more here. :confused3

I honestly don't know. Easter's never been a big thing in our family. Nothing is ringing a bell at least, lol.
Some people don't do much. Growing up we always had an egg hunt, always colored eggs, always had a basket with a chocolate bunny and jelly beans, and since it was SoCal and the weather was usually nice, we'd go to the park and bring a picnic. :) Fun, but not a big fancy, sit down dinner or anything.

We used to do a lot as a kid when my Grandmother lived in town. Since she moved to Texas when I was little it was just get a basket of candy in the morning, and then no more mention of it after that. I haven't decorated eggs in forever. I tried to get the family to do it a few years ago but nobody would bite.

:cool1: Happy FRIDAY evening all :cool1:

So glad it is friday.

I do the big Easter meal around here for the entire family, they all converge on our house :scared1: Not sure what we will be having this year, I go back and forth between a Ham brunch, and a big Breakfast. We will see Maybe I will BBQ this year :rotfl:

I then have an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos  And then we have an adult one :rotfl: I stuff the plastic eggs with lottery tickets and stuff like that for them.

Fun times. I love hosting :yay:

You'll have to put up with more Vinylmation talk from this Vinylmaniac ;)

In honor of Earth Day later this month there's a new series of wondow boxes being released this month: sea creatures. Me wants this Shark:

VMBlog_20110408_SeaCreaturesBoxFront.jpg

Hopefully they'll still be around in September since it'll only be at D-Street. I need it in honor of my San Jose Sharks. Then again, I still need my Chip and Dale Nerds. Sigh. It will never end.

Evening ladies!! Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Little league tomorrow for Anthony & Addy as well as team pictures....so a busy morning.....but should be fun watching Addy play in her first t-ball game!

Just spending the evening watch Disneyland travel DVD's........just getting my "happy" on!!

I had to call Code Enforcement on my neighbors this morning......they don't have garbage service & are throwing bags of garbage into their garage. 3 weeks ago I saw him pull about 30 bags of garbage out & throw into his vehicle for a dump run. Ever since, we've had a rodent problem in our kitchen. We've lived her 19 months & never once had an issue......I'm totally grossed out!!:sick: We've been setting mouse traps & caught 2, but still have a bigger one that is setting off the traps & then dragging them around........ :scared1: we're thinking RAT!!

Needless to say, I'm just ill of the thought of having them anywhere near my house......but IN my house is definitely not ok!!! My babies lay on the floors all the time.....ewwwwwwwww Been cleaning everything because I'm just grossed out. Let's just say my OCD is in overdrive right now!!

Was glad to see the sun come out today & sounds like most of tomorrow will be nice too....then back to the dumb ol' rain!

Enjoy the weekend!

I want to play in the adult egg hunt! That sounds fun. When we lived in CA we'd always go to my in-laws house and my father-in-law would hide tons of eggs, all with money. The amounts ranged from one dollar bills all the way up to $20! It was for the kids, but the parents would cheat and help the kids find them. We wanted the money too. LOL

I am torn between lunch or breakfast. Maybe I will just stick with breakfast. It works for our family and there are so many yummy breakfast foods to try...... hmmmm, I don't know.

Have a good night, ladies!!

Oh my gosh Laurie that is so gross. Did anyone ever let them know -- rinse out bottles, cans, plastic and recycle. Paper magaazines, news paper, mail ,etc should be contained and again recycled. Maybe they can compost the other stuff. There are the new machines that are contained and work like a portable cement mixer.

He thinks he is saving money but looks like the way he catches trash he is paying premium. I would be so upset. Can you imagine. I wonder if they rent. If I was a land lord i would include garbage in rent so renters would actually use that service.

I am just shaking my head-- what goes on in the minds of some people. I sure hope the city takes over and keeps eye on this situation. My gosh if my child got bitten or a rat/mouse got near one those ppl would have to deal with a CRAZY WOMAN- Me.

Let us know how it goes and let kids know we all hope they get hits-- but most of all have fun.

Thanx Patty!! I'm so grossed out by this & actually saw the thing after I posted!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!! It's a rat!! :scared1::eek::scared1:

They rent thru a private owner, so not sure who....but I'm thinking the city will notify them.....at least I hope so. Household garbage piling up in their garage who have to stink.....yuck!!

All I know is my hubby better get rid of these things fast.....I can't even go in the kitchen right now.....makes it really hard to feed the kids!

Morning all.

Hope everyone had a good night last night. Ours was interesting to say the least. We are changing internet and we got a new one that is a lot like AT&T in that they just send you a modem and you have to hook the stupid thing up. It is SO frustrating too because of COURSE it didn't work!! It took Shane several hours to get it working on my pc and then when I went to bed he was having a heck of a time getting it to work on his laptop so not sure if he ever DID get it to work but I know you have to put a network key in on our Wii to make Netflix work so I hope we don't have any issues with that plus the girls have laptops as well (our old ones) and they will each need theirs to work so I hope this doesn't prove to be an issue. This net is costing us almost double what AT&T was which I HATED to do since we are trying to SAVE money but in the long run we had to do it because with the cap that AT&T was doing next month it would have ended up costing us anyway. So hopefully this works and doesn't turn out to be a problem!!

Anyway then yesterday before I went to work I rented a few movies and that is what we did last night. We rented Skyline (which was weird but I liked it) and The Tourist which I also enjoyed and then How Do you Know which we will watch today.

As far as our easter plans I am not sure WHAT we are doing. My dad comes from a really big family and when I was a kid one of the things I always looked forward to was getting together on the holidays cuz it was always a big group of 40+ relatives and getting together and seeing my cousins was one of the best parts. NOW everyones is older and spread to the winds and no one really gets together anymore and it is sad. I feel bad for my girls that they don't have that same experience. It seems now on the holidays it is mostly just us and my parents. So now mom is asking if we maybe want to go up to their place in Truckee which I DO enjoy during Thanksgiving and xmas but EASTER??? I think that would be too cold! Esp with all the snow they have been having. Part of the fun of Easter is the spring and the girls have sun dresses and such and I don't think it would feel very springy so we will hopefully just do something here.

Laurie that is really gross about your neighbors and totally uncalled for but as far as rodents I totally unfortunately have had to deal with them myself. We live in a rural area on almost 2 acres and we are VERY clean but yet they still come around. When you live near large fields you just get them unfortunately and we have a basement and they get into our walls and up in our attic. Shane has sprayed and set traps but we STILL get them. It is SO frustrating and annoying. The only ones I ever SEE are the ones my cat kills and I have never seen one IN the house just hear them but they drive me insane. I hope you have good luck with the city or county or whoever getting those people to clean up!!

Anyway today we are just going to be hanging out enjoying our last bit of freedom before our crazy weekends start and then tomorrow we have our soccer reg which I am NOT looking forward to spending the money but AM looking forward to seeing our friends so it is a mixed bag.

And then next week should be exciting for the girls. They have open house and Katy is going to get to show off her science experiment plus they have a minimum day that day. And it is the last week of school before the break. Then as I said next weekend I am going to a baby shower so excited about that.

Anyway hope everyone has a good day today!!

Good luck to all the MA!! Wish I was there!!

Good morning ladies!

It's snowing here in Northern Arizona this morning!!!!!!!!!

Time to play! :yay: I think this smilie could make a snow angel today.

They like eggs, just not hard boiled. Only scrambled or fried. I told them if they weren't going to eat all those hard boiled eggs maybe we should find something else to decorate. Maybe make sugar cookies in egg shapes and frost them or something. I just hate tossing all those eggs each year. Your Easter sounds like it will be fun and delicious!

Also sounds like you are having a great time! Glad to hear you are getting some good skiiing and hot tubbing time in. :thumbsup2

Well, that's no fun. You'll have to dream about chocolate bunnies. :cloud9:

Maybe you could color them, have your hunt and then deliver them to the local mission? you could probably walk down the strip and hand them out to all those homeless folks:)

My kids aren't really interested in eggs, and never have been. I keep trying though, and I love the hard boiled eggs so it works out no matter what. I'm just not sure that it is good for two people to try to eat two dozen eggs in 4-5 days. Oh well, moderation, right...Just once a year:rotfl:

I am trying to limit my time on computer. It is such a big time suck, and a really bad example for my kids who I ask to limit their electronic time. I have a difficult time keeping up with everything, so I apologize in advance, but I will have to be a part time diva for now. I will always be thinking about you though, even when I can't be chatting.

Have a great weekend.
Tracey

You know, I just might. I'd like to do a small photo project with them as well. It'd be a fun, colorful subject. We'll see. That would involve getting eggs and stuff to dye them with, lol.

:scared1: In Michigan we lived out in the country on a dirt road and we'd occasionally get little field mice that my cats would then catch for me, but a rat??? That would freak me out. Maybe time to call in a professional exterminator. Good luck!!

Hey Kelly. Sorry about the hassles with the internet. What a pain!
Sounds like you have a busy week coming up! Oh, and I agree about the sundresses. I love dressing my girls in pretty Easter outfits.

Well, we are happy to have you, even part time. :goodvibes

Another thing you could do that I might do with my kids is use a pin to poke tiny holes in the top and bottom of the eggs, blow the inside out (then make scrambled eggs!), rinse the egg shell, let it dry, and then decorate the egg shells with glitter or other designs.
I did that when I was a kid, and was able to save those decorated egg shells for years. If I do that the kids could still decorate eggs, and we'd be able to eat the eggs either scrambled or fried which they love. :) Of course, blowing all those eggs would be a lot of work!! lol

Good morning, ladies!! Happy Saturday! :cool1:

Ruben has caught the cold that is making the rounds in our house. I am dreading catching it because I'm afraid it will strike me just before our trip! I'll cry if that happens!

Anyway, today is the yard sale. I didn't have the time, money or energy to go buy baking supplies and make some goodies to sell, so we just put out some of the kids clothes, books, toys, etc and priced it real cheap. Noelle is out there manning the sale and having fun, so it's all good.

Our next neighborhood sale is in October, and maybe I'll be better prepared then and will bake some pumpkin bread, muffins and bars to sell then. :)

I've got to run to the store later for more meds and orange juice. Trying to get everyone well.
Take care, TTYL!

Hi Everyone! I have some catching up to do but needed to share with people who understand. I REALLY want to spend my birthday at DL this year and I thought I had the perfect plan and my best friend from college would be sharing it with me. It turns out she likely has to be back to work the day before my birthday so won't be able to spend it with me. She is able to go the week before hand (most likely) so we will still be able to spend some time together and enjoy DL but she won't be able to stay through my birthday. Normally I don't have a problem going to DL solo but if I did DL solo on my birthday I just know I will be depressed. Problem is, if I'm home I'll be depressed too!

Kathy that is so beautiful! Wish it was like that here . . . .

GO! I went to WDW by myself on my birthday once and had a great time!

Beth: will the kids eat egg salad? That's what I usually do with my leftover eggs. Yummy samwiches!

If she can go the week before with you, maybe just go then. In all the years I've gone to DL, only once have I been on my actual birthday. I usually go that month and still get a birthday button. Even this year, I'll be at DL Oct. 21-23, but my b-day is the 24th. I just celebrate all week long! :thumbsup2
In any case, hope you find a plan that works for you.

I like egg salad sandwiches, but the kids don't. I might make a few. :)

I have a bad mommy rant to share. :(

All the kids in this neighborhood are always out and about on bikes, skateboards, scooters, etc. and none of them regardless of age ever wear helmets. Ever.

So the past two Christmases my kids have gotten new bikes, and scooters, BUT I have a helmet rule. It's simple, you either wear your helmet or you don't go out on your bike, scooter, etc. And this applies to my 10 year old twins as well as my older two kids.

Well, Adam (who's 16) has a fit every time. He doesn't want to wear his helmet, none of his friends wear one so why should he, they make fun of him, etc. (and we even bought him a "cool" helmet to wear)
The thing is, I feel his pain. I do. I am so torn on this issue because on the one hand, I don't want to embarrass him. But God forbid anything should happen and he is seriously injured because he doesn't have a helmet on. How would I feel then???

So in the end, I told him he had to wear it and he was pretty mad at me. :sad2: Now I feel like a horrible mom. I just don't understand why more parents don't enforce a helmet rule?? :confused3 I see little kids out there on their bikes or zipping by on scooters and they are totally unprotected. I guess I am just one of those over-protective, paranoid moms. :confused3

Oh well. I just had to vent.
