DisneyStore - Make Your Own Messenger Bag?

Good news, a new code for 25% off sitewide, it's good for the weekend.
FORYOU25 :)

Also, BONUS15 for 15% off sitewide, and I got this one to stack with the SHIPFOR5, which I could not get with FORYOU25. If you are spending $75 or more, the FORYOU25 is probably better.
:cool1:

Wow! I just looked today and there areonly 3 color choices left for the small messenger bag! Blue, navy and red...

I saw that too. I have been wanting to get my boys each one, and they both want a black bag.

I wanted the black bag as well, but it was gone before I even saw this thread.

I ordered the navy bag with the regular Mickey design, and I got our last name embroidered in yellow block letters to match Mickey's shoes. Someone posted pictures in this thread of a bag with the same details, but her bag is blue instead of navy. I like the look.

I realized Mickey's ears and arms would "fade" into the background of a black bag, so the navy is probably better (or at least that is what I have told myself). Also, I believe someone in this thread mentioned that the black bag was not quite black, more of a bluish tint, though it must be much darker than the navy.

You can't beat about $10 for a personalized Disney bag.

I am thinking about getting the diaper bag backpack too, even though we don't have children (yet). I really like backpacks, and it would be useful for when we do expand our family. The only problems are the higher price and, with black as the only available color, I again think the regular Mickey design will "fade" into the background.

I wonder what they will do when they run out of colors?
Do you think they will discontinue the item? :confused3

Just an update on the messenger bags.
There are only 2 colors left to choose from on these bags, blue and navy. They are currently charging $5 to personalize, which they seem to do, off and on. They are offering free shipping on the bags. I suspect that they are going to discontinue them. The lunch totes still have several colors to choose from and the same deal with free shipping and $5 personalization.:)

Any news on how the bags are holding up for park use? :confused3

I ordered the duffel bags. We are getting married in WDW this November and I ordered one for each of the guys in the bridal party with Mickey and their name to give them as part of their gift.

Anyone order the duffel bags and if so how are they? Also, how long does it take to get a personalized item?

Linda

What a thoughtful and clever gift!
I didn't order the duffel bag, just the messenger bags and lunch totes. I think it took about a week to 10 days to get the personalized items. I got an email when they were shipped. :)

I ordered the duffle bags for my boys. We haven't used them yet, but they turned out great! Seemed like you could fit a good amount of stuff.

Thanks for the replies about the duffel bags. I thought it was a good idea for the guys in my DF's bridal party. I got different bags for the girls from the Disney Store in the malls. I also ordered them the personalized watches - for both the guys and the girls. I also got one for myself and my DF and one for each of our Dads. I also ordered the personalized polo shirts for my DF and myself - his in black with Mickey on and it and personalized it with Groom and I got myself one in white with Minnie and personalized it with Bride. We are going down in May for our planning session - hopefully we will get them before we go away so we can wear them to our planning session - if not we can wear them to our rehearsal in November. I have spent all my money at Disney Shopping.

Hope they are durable and look good. I am so excited and can't wait to get them.

Thanks again,
Linda

My messenger bag itself worked great during our 3 day trip to WDW in April, although the velcro itself didn't hold up after the first 10 minutes. It ripped out totally. Luckily I'd read about it here on this thread and had bought extra velcro buttons which I used in several sections of the messenger bag to hold the different areas shut. They've held up & work great!

Now, the price of the small messenger bag is back up to the original $19.50, the lunch tote remains on sale for $9.99. The large messenger and the lap top bags are both on sale for $19.99.

When I saw the price increase on the small messenger, I thought maybe they had replenished their color selection, but no, still just blue and navy.

Any other reports on how the bags are holding up at the parks? :)

I received our duffel bags that we purchased for the guys in our bridal party and they are just great. We got them in red with Mickey and had their names put on in white lettering.

We did the make your own polo shirts for us. We got a black shirt with Mickey and put Groom on it and a white one for me with Minnie and put Bride on it. I can't wait to wear them down in Florida for our planning session next week.

They are really large and look durable. We will not be giving them out to them until after the summer probably but I really want to order one for us also but we have SO many bags (mostly Disney - even Disney luggage).

I did notice that the price went up on the other bags but not the amount of colors.

Linda

I have used my messenger bag about 6-7 times at the parks (half day trips) and have not had any problems with the velcro yet. I don't put a lot in the velcro sections anyway, and when I do I have been very carefull when pulling on it. The stitching seems very well done on mine, maybe that is the problem with some of the others:confused3

We bought two of the messenger bags and used them at the parks. They worked great at the parks, but I'm not sure we can really use them much anymore. We put our video camera and camera in it to carry around all week, and by the end of the week, both bags were ripped apart on the inside. The outside held up pretty good. I think I only paid about $10 for them, so for what we paid for them they worked fine. They did what we wanted them to do. Cute bag, just too bad they didn't hold up that great. I was hoping my dd could use it for preschool in the fall, but unfortunatly I don't think she is going to be able to. Hope that helps.

What a shame, it seems like the inside is too flimsy.
Do you guys think that they would still be usable if you cut away the remainder of the ripped lining? Maybe they could be re-lined? I just love how they look and was hoping to salvage them somehow. :flower:

The same thing happened to mine. :confused3 I am so disapointed. I could have lived with no velcro but the ripped inside has really bummed me out. The upside is that I did not pay a fortune for it!

On mine it looks unrepairable. It is the front part that is ripped at the top and bottom. :sad2:

So many of us bought the messenger bag last year only to have it fall apart on us after the first use. With that said, it looks like Disney has a new messenger bag...has anyone purchased it and is the quality better?

I bought one last year (pink) and it broke, too.

The quality of almost everything Disney has gone so downhill. Don't even get me started on the clothes.

I'm pretty much done buying stuff from Disney.

Good luck to anyone who tries, though!
