Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I wanted to send room requests to my TA for our May BC stay. I definitely want full balcony. With 5 of us in the room, the little extra space will be nice. I've read about the Cape May Cafe smell in the halls above the restaurant. Is there any area I can request that would avoid this? We actually have a dinner ADR here that I'm re-thinking because of the smell. Not a big deal for 4 of us but I have 1 non-seafood eater that might be bothered by the fishy smell. Is it so bad that the smell stays on your hair & clothes even after you leave? Thanks!

Did you book a standard view room? It seems as if the smells from Cape May affect the third floor hallways above the restaurant. When we had a standard view room on the third floor near Cape May, room 3705, we could only smell breakfast and that was when we were sitting out on the balcony. We never smelled it in the room. It never really bothered us at all.

If you booked a standard view room then you could ask your TA to indicate that you don't want a room near the restaurant.

If you booked a garden view room then you won't have to worry about it. Those rooms are on the other side of the resort, away from the restaurants. :)

On the magical express! We already have our room number. Any inside what even rooms on the 5th floor look at? (Club level)

On the club level thread photos were posted just a few days ago! The room is amazing imo:) we are excited to see them in person soon:)

Yes, we booked a standard view. Good to know it wasn't a problem for you. Actually my gang would probably love the breakfast smell it's just the seafood smell at dinner that might be an issue. As long as you can't smell it in the room, I guess it wouldn't be so bad.

@Natebenna we were posting at the same time
To not confuse the issue - I'm nearly certain that there are NO separate showers at the health club at all. Currently, until construction is finished on the new space, the only showers at the YC/BC are in the spa. These showers, in the spa, are not available to SAB guests to use.
Hope this helps clear up the issue a bit. (I know it doesn't solve the issue :-) )

Hopefully has it correct--the showers are only for spa guests as are the restroom facilities. My husband worked out in the fitness center while we were there last May. The doors to the "restrooms" were locked which necessitated him cutting short his work out to return to our room and use the facilities. He asked and was told there were no facilities for the fitness center only the spa and its paying customers. Ridiculous! Of course he could have used the restrooms outside the fitness center, but he was rather peeved.

Hi Everyone! We are attending a conference in late Nov/early Dec. and debating whether or not to stay at BC or YC. I prefer the look of the BC rooms and it's been 25 years since I stayed there (vs last year YC) BUT with the rooms being brand new I am tempted to stay again at YC. I can't decide...so I'm asking...what would you do? Just like to hear people's opinions... :)

We prefer Yacht Club because we are guaranteed a full balcony and like the decor better.

Hey y'all! My husband and I just got back a few days ago from a stay at YC CL. We had a renovated room. I posted some photos over in the Club Level board (it's a few pages back now), but I've also posted about it on our blog if y'all wanna take a look at the new rooms with higher-res pics than what Disboards allows.

http://www.wdwfor2.com is the site. If anyone has any questions about the new rooms or CL, ask away and I'll try to answer!

Loved the blog and pics! Thank you for sharing with all of us!

Just for fun I emailed Disney re: showers near SAB for use on checkout day. Here is the response I got:

Dee, you had better watch out. People get arrested for taking photos in locker rooms.

That is great!!!

I'm glad she sent you something in writing so you can show it to the folks at the spa!

Interesting that she is giving info about showers in the restroom near SAB. Hopefully that is a sign that they will be open soon!

It is my mom! We are here for her birthday and she is having a great time!! We booked her for the Gardens of the World tour for tomorrow and she cannot wait!! She sure does love her flowers!

She will love the Gardens tour! I took my mom to the Flower & Garden Festival back in 2013 and we did this tour and also the Behind the Seeds tour. She loved it and still talks about what a good time we had. It was our first stay at BC and we went back 2 years later at Christmas.

Ninja Mom checking in.

Next week Hubby and I are taking the boys to Universal Orlando. We are taking one of their mutual friends with us and we booked the suite that sleeps 6 at Cabana Bay. We recently found out that their other good friend and his family is going down on the same flight as us and staying at Sapphire Falls. That's across the street from Cabana Bay where we are staying.

So if you are at Universal and you see 6 boys, running at top speed, as far and as fast as they can away from a Mom, then that would be my group. NM is in top physical condition right now so I can keep up with them no problem. They may not realize that so it will be a surprise! Mwa ha, ha!

The last time I took them to a water park good ol' NM did way more water slides then they did. I was booking it up the stairs while they were floating in the lazy river, clucking like hens at each other... :sad2:. I have a feeling I am going to have trouble getting them out of the pool.

Since I know Dee will ask, we are planning on hitting CowFish, Margaritaville and Finnegans. We are considering Emeril's but the service and food have been getting poor reviews. Toothsome is charging entree prices for their desserts so if we go there it will probably only be for ice cream. I doubt that anyone will be able to eat an entree and one of those giant desserts in the same sitting so I'm thinking this would not be the place to take teens boys that over order food that they can't always finish, even with their appetites.

It is so odd to plan a trip to Orlando and not have it be at Disney. I might have to wear a magic band just to keep my equilibrium. This trip will definitely be the "happy wanderer" type of trip. Wish me luck with 5 guys in the hotel room. I'm bringing the economy size jug of Poo Pourri. Hopefully that will be enough to survive this trip.

Hey guys so I may be heading down to Disney this July for a stay at the Yacht Club club level. I know the rooms on that floor are done or at least mostly done but does anyone have more info regarding the showers? I would prefer to have just the shower, no tub. I would need a room with 2 queens but I don't know if they have the stand up showers exclusively for the king bed rooms.
