Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I am excited!! DH gave me the thumbs up to book next October at WDW for a couples trip (thanks to some awesome compensation for a less than magical GF stay). Maybe we will do YC CL since it'll be all fancy and new. Or should I try to get us down there in Spring and stay at BC CL?? Decisions decisions....I will have to really WOW my DMIL next month to twist her arm into babysitting for us again so soon :)

I am impatiently awaiting my DHs 2016 schedule to nail down our summer dates...I am 98% sure we will be at SAB this summer :)

Well, I'm 99% sure we won't be at the BC this August. I've wanted to take my mom to US for a few years now. I thought I'd take her there in 2017 and also hit the Flower and Garden festival with our youngest, who would be five by then. I have APs, though, for the two of us. We used them in August, and use them in January. We're also going to US in January. So I mentioned to my husband about maybe taking my mom in 2016 instead. I can get APs for Universal, so we won't have to buy tickets for two trips. And we'll get a third use out of those APs we have for Disney. It looks like I can book three round-trip tickets on JetBlue for under $500. Now I just need to contact my TA and see if they have any closer-to-magical deals for early May. That's the only real kicker for me. I refuse to pay rack rate.

This year during the Easter holidays we stayed at Disneyworld in a 5 person standard club level room at Beach Club Resort.
We have booked a two week-stay at the same resort in july 2016 but were unable to get the same club level.
We’ve phoned already several times about this. On the USA website, this room is available. On the UK website, this is available for only 4 persons, not 5. Nevertheless, we stayed in a 5 person standard club level room this year which we booked through the UK website.
Is there a specific reason why this 5 person standard club level room has now become unavailable?
We’ve phoned about this, but the person on the phone could not help us any further :worried:

F&G sounds gr-gr-great (said in my Tony the tiger voice). I think there are deals in May. I only have the late June and early August rates, sorry. We have our APs for Universal SO much cheaper than the WDW ones. Happy planning!

Sometimes Disney uk doesnt offer all available room types due to the deals but try ringing them as they can sometimes offer you different options

I was pretty shocked at the difference in cost for the US APs. Since the dates we'd be there aren't blacked out, we can get the cheapest level of AP and it's only $240. I think it will cost all of $100 to upgrade the tickets we were buying for January. Pretty much a no-brainer to upgrade rather than buy two sets of passes.

I got quotes for BW, the Poly, CR, and the GF. They didn't have a discount for AKL. Even with a 30% discount at AKL (assuming they have one for those dates), the Poly was about $400 less. And it came to about 40% off rack rate. So I'll hope for no construction - or at least the last vestiges of it. BWI was tempting, because I love being able to walk to Epcot. But I think of the options, my mom would much prefer the Poly. We'd mostly go to MK and Epcot, so as long as the monorail cooperates, we should be good.

Hoping I can hop over to visit Teena when we're there!

The dark side!! Lol. We did a Universal trip for 3 days Aug 2014 pre WDW. My youngest daughter & I are huge Harry Potter fans, and hadn't been to Universal since 2008 Tropical Storm Faye!! We loved both Harry Potter areas, it was amazing. And the train!! Also the new attractions. I could have done 4 days. We stayed at Portofino. Also amazing.

Pre Harry Potter we did a couple of Universal trips, and combined it with a multipack ticket- Seaworld & Busch Gardens. I think Universal resorts still have bus to Seaworld? And if you buy combo Seaworld/Bush tickets they bus you free from Seaworld parking lot to Busch.

I see in your signature that you have a trip to the BC next year. August?

[/QUOTE]
Yes. We normally travel in August from MA so we either sweat at home or sweat in Disney. It's hot in August no matter where we are. ;-)
We stayed at BCV a few years ago, but this will be our first stay in the "proper" hotel.

Hi everyone!
Finally booked a trip, we haven't been to the "World" since 2013!
We will be at the BC 1/17-1/23! Can't wait, first time at BC (3 previous trips to YC)!
Sooo excited!!!

Thought this was interesting, have t seen at the other resorts. A small built in night light on wall below the makeup mirror in sink area. Handy for midnight wanderings.

Where my room was: maroon rectangle

The bump out in the corner was where a couch would usually be. The desk is usually on the opposite wall next to the bed. This was fine for 2 people. Room still was roomy enough.

Just add a towel or wash cloth under your curling/dryer appliance and this is a nice vanity.

More food:)

An cl 2pm snack on my balcony, yum!

Thanks for the photos, Trisha! I love the night light feature...much needed for the 2 am bathroom wandering! :)

I just remembered. There was a half bath in the BC lounge. It is on the wall behind the coffee set up(around the corner). I would never have noticed it if my dh hadn't asked.

To go cups were in the drawers below coffee and juice set ups.

The taffy at the check in desk, grab a piece or two when you walk by, yum!

If they are busy and you don't get offered the welcome champagne, just nicely say " we are checking in, can we possibly get the welcome drink I have heard of?". It was a nice way to start the day(even at 8am champagne is good:cloud9:).

The bar set up for wine and beer was a smaller one than at Gf but stocked nicely.

The evening cordials were left out at dessert time- self serve.

Never had a problem getting a table. Lots of space !!!

Oh, and the lounge was locked at 4-5 while they set up. However i flagged a cm and requested wine without any problems :)

Overall it was a nice stay and i am glad to have tried it. Any q's let me know.

Oh and they actually did turn down after 5pm and not while i am getting ready for my appetizers like most cl's do! I really appreciated that i got to experience turn down. FYI for newbies, they turn down the beds, leave chocolate but also replenish your towels and take trash.

Does anyone have any idea about upcoming pool refurbishments at Stormalong Bay? I know these typically take place through the winter months, just wondering if there are any details for January/February 2016 at this point. Thanks for any info!

I've never done online check-in, but have tried it today. I have a question about when you put in the Add Room and Amenity Requests. I selected: large balcony and upper floor, then checked arriving early. When I hit done, the screen says Room Requests: Upper Floor and Large Balcony, Amenity Requests: None selected. So what does the "None selected" mean because there was nowhere else to select anything else.

On last nights Dis Podcast they talked about changes to Sandcastle Club. I've just pulled this from AllEars.

Dee - may be useful for first page?

Beginning December 4, the Sandcastle Club at Disney's Beach Club Resort and Lilo's Playhouse at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort will offer new programming similar to that onboard Disney Cruise Line. Children left at these supervised children's activity centers that cater to kids 3 to 12 will now be able to participate in cooking activities, adventures in science, plus character interactions. In addition there will be the usual toys and games, dress up, crafts, storytelling and dancing, and dinner is included! Pricing is $55 per child from 4:30 to midnight. Call 407-WDW-DINE for reservations and more information.

Absolutely! Thanks so much for posting this.

:thumbsup2

We do not have a picture of the room only bounceback for 2016 yet. If there is anyone there now or who will be soon, could you check to see if there is a flyer in the room?

Thanks!!!

:goodvibes:
