Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Trying not to panic guys....21 days to go. Still have to figure out TIW, DDP or OOP, solidify room requests, pick up items for DS, finalize dining, then pack etc. All great problems to have.

Refillable mug question. Trying to determine if worth it to buy one OOP for my a.m. coffee needs. Other than going to the BC marketplace, is there somewhere at the YC I can go for coffee in the a.m.? What is the cost? I know I can refill at the marketplace and Hurricane Hannah's...

The Ale and Compass Lounge at YC opens at 6:00 am. That's where we got coffee everyday since the Marketplace doesn't open that early. It's $2.09+tax according to the current menu on the website. We were on the dining plan, but we will be purchasing them next trip when we go without the DP. We like to get a diet soda in the afternoon as well as our morning coffee.

:flower3:Just read that flowers are being left at the France pavilion to show support during this saddest of times. Such a lovely gesture supporting those who are far from home

I was thinking last night about all of the CMs from France. Such a horrible, horrible thing.

Yay! It's official. After changing plans no less than 5 times, we will be staying 2 nights at the Contemporary theme park view, and then moving to my most favorite resort -- the YACHT CLUB for 4 nights. Our dates for the Yacht Club are June 8-12, and we have a standard view club level room. :yay:

Just booked a magical deal at the BC for Aug 21-27. Can't be August soon enough. We have always gone to Disney World in early November the the weather is perfect for touring the parks. We have heard that it is brutally hot in August. Any advice for travel to Disney World in August? We are from Southern New Jersey so we are familiar with 90+ degree weather and humidity in the summer. Is it really that much worse in Disney World in August? We are planning to make time for the great BC pool in the middle of the day. Is the pool super crowded in the middle of the day at BC during August. Sorry for all the questions...just super excited:yay:

Great questions... I hope you get some replies, as we're in the EXACT same boat: same deal, same resort, same dates, and we're from the northeast. I was also planning on going to the parks in the morning, and back to the pool after lunch.

We were just there this past August and it was HOT and humid - but not as bad as I was expecting. We're from northern Ontario, so I was worried ;) Now I'm already looking forward to next August.
We got to the parks early, took afternoon pool breaks, and went back for supper and the evenings. We didn't find the pool too crowded at any time we were there - busier in the afternoon than at night, but not bad. We quite often had a whole little section to ourselves.

We stayed at the BC for the first time in Nov of 2013 and it was a little on the cool side for the pool so we didn't use it as much as we thought we would. We didn't have the park hopper which was a mistake since we would have loved to taken a stroll over to Epcot in the evenings. We got the park hopper for this trip though...lesson learned!

The coffee in your room is actually really good. In previous years I have brought my own but last trip i was very happy with the coffee.

We are from Southern New Jersey, too! Gloucester Township. We just went this past August and stayed at the BC with the magical deal. I totally get your excitement! There isn't much of a difference between the temperature. It seems hotter because at home we're not walking around in the heat all day, but it was manageable. The kids didn't complain about the heat at all. We took midday breaks at the pool each day. There were people there, but it wasn't crowded. SAB is so big that there is plenty of room for everyone. We never had a problem finding a group of chairs in the middle of the day. Have fun! We loved the BC!!

Thanks for the feedback:)

We got back last night from a wonderful 7 days/6 nights at the Yacht Club. We were on the third floor in a garden view room (Room 3216 to be specific). Resort CMs were wonderful and they were able to keep us in the same room after checking out of our room-only and in for our package, which I really appreciated since it was the Wine & Dine weekend and the place was booked pretty much solid. Our room was lovely and well-maintained, with no real signs of wear and tear. I did notice the carpet in the hallways was showing some wear. Housekeeping was great and quick to bring us extra towels and blankets when needed. It was much hotter than we'd expected, so we made good use of Storm Along Bay, and the kids had a blast playing in the pool. Enjoyed some to-go sundaes from Beaches & Cream, and stopped by the pool bar more than once for a Sunken Treasure--yum! Love the proximity to the Boardwalk, Epcot and HS. I took the girls down to the beach to watch the movie one night and to the Boardwalk another, and they were some of my favorite times of the trip. We enjoyed everything about the resort and I hated to leave.

I agree with this. I'm from central Pennsylvania and we've gone to WDW in August the last two summers. The temps for me weren't that much worse than what we routinely get here. Only one of my kids really thought it was bad. One out of four ain't bad in my book. We took breaks in the middle of the day and had lots of pool time. And lots of water. I never found SAB to be crazy crowded.

Thanks for the report regarding the weather. A few people in my office that have been to WDW over the summer told me that the heat was unbearable but they also complain about the heat in South Jersey in the summer which I don't really mind. Looking forward to cooling off in SAB in Aug 2016!
