Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Just made our Fastpasses for our 12 night trip in June! I can't believe it's so close now, once it gets to FP+ day the time seems to fly! 60 days til we check in at AKL and 64 days til we return home to the BC! :yay:

Now to catch up on the last dozen or so pages - I've been super busy at work for a couple of weeks and have fallen behind!

We were booked in a garden view. And the room category never changed on our reservation. To be fair, the straight on view was of the gardens and gazebo. I had to lean out on my balcony for the view of the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake.
It looks like a great room location for Garden View. I had a Garden View reservation with a request for Wedding Gazebo View on a lower floor and was assigned a room a few doors away from your room. When I went out on the balcony. the view directly in front of me had the Gazebo slightly to the side and the lake to the other side. I assumed it was just a really nice Garden View room, till I looked at the folio, after checking out. It was actually labeled as a Pool/Lagoon View room. Nothing was ever mentioned - I just got upgraded.

A request of "Close to lobby, please" describes what you want. What room category (standard, garden, waterview)? Rooms near the lobby are either in the wing closest to EPCOT on the first floor or would be close to the main bank of elevators on upper floors.

Great location because you are close to The Marketplace, transportation and the entry locations to the pool.

Thank You so Much!!!!:worship:

It is time that you tried an Epcot resort. ;) We love both the BC and the WL but give the BC an edge on location. We love the flexibility to walk to parks and restaurants when staying at the BC. :)

What a great room. Could you see Illuminations from there?

The second bedroom will have a normal bathroom, meaning it will have the shower/tub combination. The bathroom for the master bedroom has the big bathtub in one room and the toilet and shower stall in a second room. There are connecting doors for both of these rooms.

Dedicated 2 br villas have two queen beds. There are 2 br villas that have a studio as the second bedroom. In that case it would have a queen bed, a sofa sleeper and I think maybe a Murphy bed. I'm sure someone can confirm that. A cash reservation can't guarantee a dedicated 2 bedroom.

If your sister and BIL are comfortable having the kids sleep in the living room then you could give them the master bedroom. If they don't want the kids to sleep in the living room then I would give them the second bedroom. The kids can always use the big tub in the master if you let me. They will also have a regular tub in the other bathroom.

We have stayed in BCV's with adult children and grandchildren and we always take the master bedroom and let the parents with kids have the second bedroom. It gives them their own space and a little more privacy. And besides, we were paying, so we get to take the best room. ;)
If I can get them into my price range with a military discount I think I will!!!!

Just made our Fastpasses for our 12 night trip in June!

Quick question - were you able to make all 12 days at once? Do you have AP's? I had read conflicting reports of people being able to book FP and not being able to do entire trip - our FP day is Monday for our 2 week trip and I'm wondering if I'll be able to do them all at once.

Hello, Ferrentinos!

We are heading to Disney for 2 weeks as well and to my surprise, I was able to make all of our fastpasses at once! Keeping my fingers crossed that you can too! It was sure easier than having to log back in each day to finish making them!

I don't know about the other deals but, the Labor Day deal is for discounted room and discounted tickets.

ETA
For our Labor Day deal trip we're saving $100 per ticket for 8 day PH+.

We got a magical deal for our fall trip, and our agent said that the tickets are "slightly" discounted. From what I can tell, it's on the order of ~$50 per ticket for a 7 day PH+. The Labor Day deal was definitely amazing all around!

Yes all 12 days. We are passholders.

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say hello and I'm back on the forum. After we returned from our November trip, I didn't have the heart to sign on. Then, after a few weeks of not doing so, I realized exactly how many hours I was burning every day on this and similar sites. Good thing I'm the boss, but not so good for keeping business shipshape. It happens every year. I'm a geek when it comes to this stuff. I just can't help myself.

:wave2:

I just made my life easier. Instead of a split stay with 2 nights at the beach club and 5 at the yacht club I switched to beach club only with a lagoon/pool view.

I want a lagoon view! I don't care as much about the full balcony, but it would be lame if my water view was of the quiet pool. How do I request a lagoon view?

When overlooking the quiet pool, you can also see the lagoon/Boardwalk, so it's not just a view of the pool. Still a great view.

Good to know. Maybe I should do no requests and just see what happens.

I had a Stormalong Bay/obstructed lagoon view once at the Beach Club and I loved it, I think I would prefer having a view looking out directly at the lagoon at the Boardwalk resort. If you don't have other requests, then adding "Lagoon view, please" probably would not hurt. If you do end up with a pool view, it should still be nice.

My DH & I will be staying at the Beach Club for the first time next month. This trip is for my birthday (50!) and was just planned over the weekend - I've never planned a trip in such a short time before! We are only staying 3 nights but we are so excited to be staying at an Epcot area resort (we usually stay at the Polynesian).

I reserved a standard view room and was going to do online check in. I'm going to select "Upper Floor" as my Room Request #1 but what does it mean if I request "Large Balcony" as my Room Request #2? I'm sure that question has been answered before but I haven't read through all the posts.

TIA!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for May. What a fun way to celebrate your birthday!

A few pages back, top of page 850, I posted a picture that shows a patio, full balcony and smaller balcony. Or if you go to Page 1, Post 13 you can also see the differences in the balcony types.

:flower3:Just made all our ADRs for our vacation and we're trying to organise a day for a MNSSHP just the internet keeps having glitches with the WDW site for some reason it's jumped to 2022 for the dates!! Must be Spring gremlins in the works again:badpc: Managed to get all the restaurants and dates we wanted which was a complete surprise. I have made a note for myself to ring to reserve the party tickets on release day. We've not been to one since 2009 and now we are looking forward to our stay. Good luck to everyone else planning their dates and restaurants too.:flower3:

We got back yesterday from an awesome stay. If you have little ones Easter is an absolutely wonderful time to go. The staff had a whole mini carnival set up. They did a candy scramble, then they set up stations. They had paint your own ceramics, decorate your own cupcakes, pick a ducky, bowling, ring toss, scavenger hunt, cake walk and more. The CMs were absolutely wonderful and really made the day special. We've been to WDW pretty much every holiday and Easter is by far my favorite.

Wow! Thanks for letting us know about all of the Easter happenings. That sounds like a lot of fun. Did you have to pay an additional fee for any of the activities like the ceramics?

Current complimentary beverage selection at YC, shown in room not yet refurbed, as well as images of refurbed YC 4th floor, and the YC 3rd floor, where refurb project started 04.07.2017.

Thank you so much for the great pictures. I love the hallway rug. That is also great news about a bottle of water being included in the room. I am assuming that is replaced daily by housekeeping if the guests use it.

:goodvibes

Hey guys! So we decided to upgrade to YC CL for my November birthday trip! :cloud9:
We were thinking of adding the dining plan, but I enjoy CL so much that I think I'd miss it if we didn't do it!

I'd love to be added to the BOG Guest List! Our dates are:
Nov. 26 to Dec. 2nd. Thanks so much!

I'm really enjoying all the photos people are posting! It really helps make the anticipation of the trip more exciting!! Keep them coming!

Will do! I'm several pages behind in updating the list. Hope to get to it in the next day or so.

Yay! This is fantastic news - I had read a few reports of people not being able to book for their entire trip and I was super nervous! We haven't done a 2 week trip in 2 summers so I wasn't sure if things had changed. It will be good not to have to log in and do them daily! :-)

Here's another "Dee I don't know how you do it!" post. I've been off for a couple weeks, read a post here or there, and am amazed at how much has been posted! I have so much wonderful reading to catch up on!

Awwww!!! Thanks for the encouragement. Seems like I have been digging myself out of a hole since about November. But I do, eventually, read every post and make sure there is a response by the time I get to it.

We had the liter bottle of Dasani in our room at the Beach Club in the same spot. Seems like it is for the coffee maker mostly but you could take it to the parks or drink it if you wanted to. I think they coffee pots were breaking too quickly because of the sink water.

Yes - it is a new room amenity. The photo was taken at the YC.

I believe that this is to compete with deluxe resorts not owned by Disney, which provide complimentary bottles of water in guest rooms. The Swan and Dolphin include four bottles of water in each room, but they also charge a resort fee, which includes the water, as well as other amenities. But, the room rates at Swan and Dolphin are also lower than YC and BC, even taking into consideration resort and parking fees.

I wonder if housekeeping would leave additional bottles of water, upon request, at no charge, just like extra shampoo or coffee.

Great theories about the water amenity. Thanks for confirming that it was at BC also.

Hey, will someone who is there now or soon ask for additional bottles of water and report back?

:goodvibes

T-minus 49 hours until we fly out to WDW for our stay at YC. So we are staying at a Garden View room and after looking at some of the views we are thinking we'd like to request a room overlooking the Wedding Gazebo.

Have any of ya'll stayed in this section? Do you like it? Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

I stayed in a GV room on the side closest to the lobby. The view is very nice and many of the rooms also have peek-a-boo views of the lagoon/Boardwalk. It was super convenient to the elevators. There are also rooms across the courtyard, facing EPCOT. A little further from the lobby elevators, but some of the rooms may have fireworks views -either Illuminations or from HS- from the balcony

:thumbsup2

Please post your thoughts when you get back. Staying garden view in June. Switched from BW. Hoping we made the right choice. Stayed at BW before always wanted to try YC

Thx

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

If you want to see some sample Garden Views, there is a thread on the Resorts Community board- Yacht Club Room Views

Trying to decide between BC and WL for our trip next year in May. Just me and my husband... Let me know your input... Thanks :flower3:

Hey, let's ask the founding members of Chocolates Anonymous if they like M&Ms or Gummy Bears more...

;)

I have not stayed at the WL, but my comments about BC are that the resort is super convenient to EPCOT, my favorite park. If you will be making any time for the pool, it doesn't get any better than Stormalong Bay. I think the quick service dining options are a bit better at WL.

In all seriousness, we have several posters on this board who like WL as much if not more than BC/YC. I think there are a couple of comparison reviews on Page 1, Post 16.

Dee, sadly I need to ask to be removed from the Be Our Guest list. We had to switch the dates of our October trip based on the school calendar, and switched resorts too. Kids are so bummed...they were so looking forward to being back at Stormalong Bay. Guess we need to plan another trip to make it happen! Until then, I'll continue drooling over everyone else's photos!

During the resort refurbishment of the YC, does anyone know if the gym will be affected? We are going June 3 - 10. Thanks for any info.

Just got confirmation from the conference that I will be in the Yacht Club. First time ever to the YC. How quick of a walk is it to Epcot?

It was still open last week so I don't think anything is affecting the fitness facility as of now.

10 -15 minutes tops. One day it felt like 5 another a little longer (it was hot so slower moving).

Woo hoo! I like that I won't have to wait for a bus. I have "after 5pm" convention tickets for my first two days there. Run out of the last class to my room, change into a park storming attire, and jet out to Epcot!
