I've stayed at both and I would say BC but it really depends on what park you spend the most time in and what you like to do. If you prefer Epcot, BC all the way. The pool, Boardwalk and entrance into the WS is awesome. If you're more a MK person, the WL would be better due to proximity to that park. And the boat over to the MK is very relaxing. JMO, of course.

That's what I thought. I'm just trying to figure out what the advantage is to buy discounted tickets if you end up spending the same? I must be missing something.

Maybe you think you only want a ticket for the number of days you will be there, and later you realize you will be going back during the year so you now want an AP?

I participate in a lot of RunDisney events so the AP is the best option for me and I recently upgraded my daughter to an AP last month on our last park day. We were there for 5 days and are going back in August for 8 days so fiscally it made sense. We were shopping after she received the AP and she saved $12 on a $60 sweatshirt with the 20% of from the AP. During the trip we dined only at restaurants that were also offering the 20% discount with my AP. It's a special that runs through 9/30. After that I believe it goes down to 10% unless there is another promotion.

We have always stayed (usually) in the Magic Kingdom area. always thought about BC... Also the Flower and Garden thing will be going on I think then...

I get that, that's why I asked what it ends up costing in the end.
It really depends on what you paid for your tickets, what you will get "credit" for with those tickets, and the current cost of the AP. So for us, we have 7 day hoppers that we got at 2016 prices when we booked our bounceback - I believe they cost $450 each. However, when we arrive in August 2017, we can use them one day, then go upgrade them to AP and they would be "worth" the $485 current 7 day hopper price. We will need to pay the difference between that and the current AP price of $779 or about $294 plus taxes.

Since everyone gets different day and types of tickets through so many different sources, your cost to upgrade could be similar or wildly different. But assuming you can price bridge, as in my example, you should be able to calculate that cost in advance.

It will, and while it's enjoyable for DS, I would LOVE to spend time around Epcot either on my own or with another adult during F&G. The flowers are just gorgeous, and the extra food and beverage kiosks are fabulous. Given that you seem to be trending towards a "grown up" version of a Disney vacation, I'd go for BC. 8-)

T-minus 49 hours until we fly out to WDW for our stay at YC. So we are staying at a Garden View room and after looking at some of the views we are thinking we'd like to request a room overlooking the Wedding Gazebo.

Have any of ya'll stayed in this section? Do you like it? Pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.
This was our view from room 4095. A bit far from the elevators, but LOVED the view!!!

Hi all! :wave2:

We're going to be staying at BCV for the first time this August. I'm starting to think about what makes sense for sleeping arrangements. It's me, my Mom, my sister and BIL and their two kids (girl 8 and boy 6). We have a two bedroom villa. In looking at the bathroom configurations, I'm wondering if it makes sense to give my sister and BIL the king room so that they have the tub for the kids as it seems like the bathroom for the second bedroom only has a shower. Is that right? But, is the second bed in the second bedroom a pullout? We are not DVC members and I think I read that there are two different set-ups for 2-bedroom villas - one for club members and one for others. Advice appreciated.

It is time that you tried an Epcot resort. ;) We love both the BC and the WL but give the BC an edge on location. We love the flexibility to walk to parks and restaurants when staying at the BC. :)

What a great room. Could you see Illuminations from there?

The second bedroom will have a normal bathroom, meaning it will have the shower/tub combination. The bathroom for the master bedroom has the big bathtub in one room and the toilet and shower stall in a second room. There are connecting doors for both of these rooms.

Dedicated 2 br villas have two queen beds. There are 2 br villas that have a studio as the second bedroom. In that case it would have a queen bed, a sofa sleeper and I think maybe a Murphy bed. I'm sure someone can confirm that. A cash reservation can't guarantee a dedicated 2 bedroom.

If your sister and BIL are comfortable having the kids sleep in the living room then you could give them the master bedroom. If they don't want the kids to sleep in the living room then I would give them the second bedroom. The kids can always use the big tub in the master if you let me. They will also have a regular tub in the other bathroom.

We have stayed in BCV's with adult children and grandchildren and we always take the master bedroom and let the parents with kids have the second bedroom. It gives them their own space and a little more privacy. And besides, we were paying, so we get to take the best room. ;)

A request of "Close to lobby, please" describes what you want. What room category (standard, garden, waterview)? Rooms near the lobby are either in the wing closest to EPCOT on the first floor or would be close to the main bank of elevators on upper floors.

Great location because you are close to The Marketplace, transportation and the entry locations to the pool.

::yes::

BCV:

Studio: queen size bed, double size sofa bed, and pull-down bunk size bed.

1-bedroom: king size bed in bedroom, queen size sofa bed in living room.

Lock-off 2-bedroom: a studio and a 1-bedroom with a connecting door.

Dedicated 2-bedroom: king size bed in one bedroom. 2 queen size beds in the second bedroom. Queen size sleeper sofa in the living room.

If someone is booking through DVC Member Services or DVC website on points, they know which type of 2-bedroom they are booking because the two types are separate booking categories. They should be aware that a lock-off is referred to as a lock-off but the word "dedicated" is not in the booking lingo; a dedicated is just a 2-bedroom without the word "lock-off."

If someone is booking with cash through the Central Reservation Office or online, I don't know if they are aware of what type of 2-bedroom they are booking.

This looks like pool/lagoon view room category. Is that what you booked, or did you get pixie dust?
We were booked in a garden view. And the room category never changed on our reservation. To be fair, the straight on view was of the gardens and gazebo. I had to lean out on my balcony for the view of the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake.

And @Wood Nymph, sorry, I don't know if Illuminations could be seen from there, as we were always in the parks for fireworks. I'd guess the other side of the resort would block most of the view from there, though.

Exactly this. I would have just purchased an AP for her initially, but she is going back in the fall. There is no advantage to upgrading a discounted ticket (unless you do the price-bridging thing) for me. I paid $330.69 for her ticket through the TA. When I go to Guest Relations to upgrade, I will pay the difference between that and the price of the AP, which is $779.00. I have an AP and this will be my third trip with the discounts for this year, with one more in August. Definitely a great savings from that perspective.

I did ask this question on the ticket thread, but no one is exactly sure how upgrades will work with these tickets. I asked here because I know so many of us have used this TA, so I thought I would get good advice, which I did! I'll let you know how it works out. :)

I can help here since I have also been in that room. Yes, it is GV since you are looking straight ahead at green, not water, but it's a great GV room to have. And yes, you can see Illuminations (high show) from the balcony as we watched it every night we stayed there when we didn't feel like walking down and sitting on our favorite bench to watch the show.
