Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Will be at BC next week -- anyone need pictures or info on anything while I'm there?
Would you peek into the restroom closest to SAB and see if they are building showers in there? I think it is in the hallway near Ariel's. They are supposed to be adding showers somewhere but so far no one knows what the status is. :)

Thanks. :)

We may be heading to wdw for a few days in July and are considering YC club level. I am wondering how/what the offerings are? Has anyone been currently? Also how long is the YC refurb supposed to take?

:welcome: to the thread.

I have detailed pictures from my YC CL stay in October on Page 1, Post 12 of this thread.

I think the renovation will be completed sometime this summer.

Let us know if you end up booking a stay at the Yacht Club.

We are staying now in a one bedroom BCV thanks to the discount. I'm having a hard time deciding what to request. From reviews I've heard there aren't any fantastic views but I'm trying to decide what to request, whether I should request Epcot view, woods view, or pool view. What I would like is a nice view of something with not so much noise (as in quiet with doors shut, I dont care about noise while out on balcony). I also want to be close to Beach Club and closer to Epcot. How would I word that to make it easier for CM's?

Thanks for the welcome. The pics are great!

Really wondering how disruptive the refurb will be in July. I guess there is no way of knowing. We stayed at the yacht club years ago and loved it.

Woods view and Epcot view are mostly the same thing, since the side of the resort that faces Epcot has a row of trees between the building and the park.

We like the section of BVC that faces Epcot and is closest to the BC. That section of BCV has the greatest distance between the resort and the road and is a very quiet area. Since it is close to the BC it is a quick walk to the International Gateway from there. You can usually see Illuminations through the trees, too. It doesn' have much of a view. The other view options are pool view, parking lot view, and a noisy road view.

Here's something that I have always wondered about. If we check into the BC CL at 8:00am, obviously the room won't be ready yet and we get told that they will let us know when our room is ready. Say we requested a full balcony. Another guest checks in after me when the room is ready and this guest has the same category and full balcony requested as I do. Would they give the room to the guest that is standing right in front of them or do they notify me? That guest is there I am in the park. More full balcony rooms will eventually be ready. I know it really doesn't matter but I didn't know if it was first come first served and the guest at the desk would also have to wait until a room was ready.

What do you think???

Hi - posted this on another thread, but I think this is better placed here as this is most certainly where the wealth of knowledge is for BC/YC....
and apologies if this has been asked before, but can anyone confirm the reopening of Fittings and Fairings? I thought it was a May timeframe, but now it seems like July?

Oh no, I'm going in June. Where did you hear July from? I was really hoping the food area would be done by then.

Just booked a short 3 night/4 day trip for end of July. Staying club level. We are so excited! Haven't stayed at the YC since the kids were 4/2/2, and now they are 15/13/13.

I just went on a quick sisters trip a few weeks ago. We stayed at BWI club. Have never stayed club other than that. Has anyone stayed at both that can compare? Any tips/suggestions for room preference? We are in a standard room. Are most rooms near the lounge?

This is an out of the blue trip so I'm still a bit surprised it is happening at all.

Resort rooms are assigned days ahead of time, with an attempt to honor the requests that people have made in advance. When you check into the BC CL you can ask about your room at that time. They won't tell you the room number if it isn't ready yet, but they will know which room you have been assigned. If it has a full balcony then you can express delight that you have received what you wanted. I can't imagine that they would take it away from you to give it to another guest, especially after you have already checked in. They can block rooms so that doesn't happen if you are worried about it. :).

That's what I thought.

I know that they have assigned me a room and I didn't like the view or location and they've changed me to another room. I was just curious.

I know what you mean. ::yes:: When we stayed at the Grand Floridian the CM decided to find us a room with a better view. We didn't ask her to do it. I often wonder what happened to the guests who were supposed to get our "new" room.

How do I make a room request for a view of crescent lake?

The category is "water view". So it could be Lake view' pool view, canal view and they are all considered water view. I would call and request " Water View - Crescent Lake please"

Speak to your travel agent, or call 1-407-WDISNEY, and have then pull up your reservation. Ask them to add "Unobstructed View of Crescent Lake, please" to your reservation.

Once, at BC, we'd booked a SV, and about a week out, it changed on MDE to "Lagoon View," needless to say, we were overjoyed! When we got there, the lovely CM verified that yes, we'd been upgraded, and asked if she could make our stay more magical with a king bed. We thought we'd hit the lottery, until we found out that the king room was a full-on rooftop SV! We rushed back to the desk, and had to really fight to get the original room back, because MDE proceeded to show us as SV, and the (new) CM literally didn't believe us. There's more to the story than this, but that was the basic jist.
Also, on our most recent trip, we had a GV, and the room we were assigned was ready, but had a small balcony. I asked our check-in CM if there was another GV room with a full balcony available, and she said there was, but it was a few hours away from being ready. We agreed to wait and another CM with a clipboard kept approaching us trying to get us to take the original room saying she didn't know why we wanted to wait. It was really frustrating. :sad2:

So, what I guess I'm trying to say is I think it's absolutely a possibility that the room you end up with, might have been the room assigned to someone else.

Hi all! :wave2:

We're going to be staying at BCV for the first time this August. I'm starting to think about what makes sense for sleeping arrangements. It's me, my Mom, my sister and BIL and their two kids (girl 8 and boy 6). We have a two bedroom villa. In looking at the bathroom configurations, I'm wondering if it makes sense to give my sister and BIL the king room so that they have the tub for the kids as it seems like the bathroom for the second bedroom only has a shower. Is that right? But, is the second bed in the second bedroom a pullout? We are not DVC members and I think I read that there are two different set-ups for 2-bedroom villas - one for club members and one for others. Advice appreciated.

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

Thank you to Wood Nymph and Best Aunt for answering your question about the BCV 2BR villas!

:cool1:

We got a magical deal for our fall trip, and our agent said that the tickets are "slightly" discounted. From what I can tell, it's on the order of ~$50 per ticket for a 7 day PH+. The Labor Day deal was definitely amazing all around!

:welcome:

Thanks for the info about the tickets.

Is your trip here at the Yacht or Beach Club?

:goodvibes

Dee, sadly I need to ask to be removed from the Be Our Guest list. We had to switch the dates of our October trip based on the school calendar, and switched resorts too. Kids are so bummed...they were so looking forward to being back at Stormalong Bay. Guess we need to plan another trip to make it happen! Until then, I'll continue drooling over everyone else's photos!

Thanks for letting us know! Wishing you a fantastic trip and I'm so glad to hear you will be sticking around and hanging out with us.

During the resort refurbishment of the YC, does anyone know if the gym will be affected? We are going June 3 - 10. Thanks for any info.

As others have indicated, we haven't heard anything about a gym/spa refurb. The Ship Shape Health Club was refurbished a few years ago. Can't remember exactly when but the info is in Post 5 on Page 1. At that time, some gym equipment was moved into the Solarium so that there was still a space for people to work out during their trips.

:thumbsup2

Just got confirmation from the conference that I will be in the Yacht Club. First time ever to the YC. How quick of a walk is it to Epcot?

:welcome:

When is the convention?

Like others have said, the walk into EPCOT is quick and easy. It may depend on where your room is located, but the walk from the YC lobby, outside along the lake, is less than 10 minutes.

:woohoo:

Oh I forgot to ask after our last trip. Is it normal for MK buses to only run every 30 minutes? We went to the MK one night and seriously bus took 30 minutes (we barely missed the one that had just pulled away) and it was just incredibly frustrating.

Unfortunately, the wait time for buses from the MK to BC (and as Wood Nymph indicates), other resorts can vary widely. I have had 5 minute waits and I have had 30 minute waits. We usually visit the MK in the morning and then hop over to EPCOT via monorail before returning to the resort. Not because it is quicker, but because we love the monorail and doing one or two things in EPCOT on our way back. That doesn't work at night after EPCOT has closed, though. During our October trip, we had 3 evening returns to the YC from the MK stop, all after 10 pm but not at park close. I think it was under 10 minutes to board a bus each of those times.

::yes::

Thanks, natebenma! We'll be staying at the BC this time around, 11/3 - 11/11/17. We've stayed at the YC before, but never the BC, so we're very excited to be there, especially since our stay is during F&W!
