Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

We just rented points for Marathon Weekend 2018 for a BCV Studio. While we have stayed in the main resort before, we have never stayed in the BCV. Any particular location in the building we should try and request?

How is the transportation to Disney Springs these days? We never took a bus before as we always had our car. This time we are flying in, but want to get to DS one or two times.

There are no views per se at BCV. Your choices are basically quiet pool, back side of BCR (facing the Marketplace), or trees on the woods/road side. You might & I emphasis might get a partial view of the Spaceship Earth or the Eiffel Tower. Upper floors woods side has very limited views of Illuminations depending on where your room is. The only request I ever make at BCV is upper floor. The rest doesn't matter to me.

I always have a car so I can't help with your bus question.

Any updates on what's going on with Ale & Compass? Hoping not much, but it sounded like a big reno was in its near future.

Hi, we will be at the Beach Club in August and on our last day we won't be leaving for our flight until 6 pm. I know that you can generally use the BC pool on checkout day, but will we be allowed to use the pool that long after checkout? TIA!

Also, in August, how hot and humid is it in the morning? If I run to France for a chocolate croissant will it be melted by the time I'm back at the hotel?

Yes. You're good until midnight.

Yes. It's like a freakin' sauna. Full disclosure, humidity is my kryptonite so my tolerance is zip. I live on the other side of the Gulf and have the same weather, with a bit less rain.

Yes it will.

Wow thanks for the prompt responses! We shall plan accordingly! So excited for the trip, just wish it could be in the fall.

You'll have a great time. Just take it easy and keep hydrated. We're going on our first summer trip in May/June and I'm still excited, even though I may melt!

HI everyone
It has been 2 long years since my last wdw and beach club visit. Although I did get a Disney Cruise in this year, I am very eager to get back to BC. Planning is very difficult but I and in the stalking and pondering phase! As always this thread is the best.

I'll chime in on this one. A wise sage on this thread advised me to request the quiet pool view. I followed that advice and really appreciated that I did. There really is no other "views" per se but we did enjoy what we had (we were in a 2 room suite). AS far as bus transportation to DS, I take the bus over and usually take the bus back because the DW has blown all the budget on the grandkids before we can get out of town so there is no money left for a cab. The trip back can be painfully slow at times but if you are patient and plan accordingly, you usually can relax after the long walk around town and enjoy the time resting. Having said that, if you are in a time crunch, definitely grab a cab or a Uber.

Now for my editorial comment on DS. I do not like what they have done there. First the bus (and cab) drop you off at the Planet Hollywood area. If you are at all familiar with this, you know you have a hike to get to the "Disney" area of DS. That hike takes you past upscale retail shops you can find at your home town shopping mall (which we never shop at to begin with). I am not a fan of the reconfigured DS area at all. I enjoyed getting off the bus at the "Disney" end of the town and that is where we stayed. I do understand the reason the executives at WDW did this (parking garage additions being the major factor) but it doesn't mean I have to like it. Okay, off my soap box.

Has Yacht Club begun room renovations yet? What is the proposed timeline?

:welcome: to the thread!

I think I missed responding to your post yesterday- my multi-quote capabilities are twitchy.

Do you have an upcoming trip booked or are you in the planning stages?

As ~Ninja replied, we try to keep the first post on Page 1 updated with the latest confirmed info about the YC renovations and other resort news.

I think the renovations have started or will be starting in the next few days. Unfortunately, Disney does not provided a timeline to us- has anyone seen anything when booking or on Disney refurbishment pages listing an expected end-date?

I am also not sure how the work will be done- floor to floor (as it has been done in the past) or wing by wing (like the recent BCV renovation). From what I read yesterday from a guest's report, sounds like they are doing work on (some) rooms on club level now.

:thumbsup2

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

I don't have any direct experience with the villas or any recent experience with the Disney Spring buses, so I will leave it to others to add their feedback.

::yes::

Please place us on you Be Our Guest list for August 13-18.
We have never stayed at the Beach Club before and are so excited!!:tigger::tigger:

:welcome: to the thread and to the resort!

I'll add you to the list.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

I don't know- haven't heard anything. I wonder if the work they are doing at Fittings & Fairings, which I have heard will include quick serve options, is a replacement for what had been reported about Ale & Compass.

If anyone hears anything, please share!

:dogdance:

As others have indicated, you are considered a guest of the resort until midnight of your checkout day, so you can use Stormalong Bay until it closes the night you check out. Hopefully by the time of your trip the long-awaited poolside locker/shower room will be open.

:fish:

I have had 3 August trips-

early August 2008, during Tropical Storm Faye. I'm still drying out from that one.

mid-August 2014- hot, not much rain

late August 2015- threats of a tropical storm (Irene?) that kind of fizzled out, some rain.

Specific to the chocolate croissant issue:

1) They have them at the Marketplace, although I haven't compared the quality of the product from the two locations
2) Read up on the Beach Club "Secret" Entrance/exit (end of Post 8)- those few air-conditioned steps can really make a difference
3) Once, the bakery in France refused to give my husband a crème brulee when he told them he was going to bring it back to the Beach Club to eat because it was too hot.

Katesdad and DW will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary at the YC - GV Dec. 8 - 15 ( after a 4-night Dream cruise). Asked for gazebo view again. We'll see what happens this time around.

We asked nicely for a Gazebo view for our wedding anniversary (we were married there) and were given a tennis court view. Not quite the same lol

Has anyone else had issues logging in recently? I keep being thrown out and having to put my password in when I go online (new laptop, which insists it is saving my passwords). Today, I've had my password refused 4 times and been on time-out! I finally got the system to send me an email to reset my password (to what it was!!!!) but it took me a while to find the email as I don't use the email I used to set up my account anymore. Finally back in and updated my email address. Sheesh the pain just to get back to chatting with you guys!!!!!

Totally agree...there is nothing that piques my interest in the Town Square part, EXCEPT the BALLOON. I always dismissed it as 'kind of hokey' until my last trip in the fall. My Best Disney Buddy got us tickets (as a Christmas gift to me) and it was fabulous!!!

We made the trip down mostly to see the drone Christmas show, which was fabulous, even if short. I could watch those things all night!

As far as even the Disney end, the only real attraction there for us is the big Disney store, and even there, since most of the merchandise can be found in practically every other Disney store in the parks and resorts, (or on the "Shop Disney" app which can locate a product for you while you are there, or order and ship home, and save yourself trying to find room for it in you luggage), so we don't even go there very much. The Earl of Sandwich is a great QS worth the trip, but not if the schedule is tight....

The system is being overloaded with folks booking dining for the Rivers of Light AK show...I've heard they have the calendar and dining package up, and should be getting FPs up very soon. Since some of us have been waiting not-so-patiently for a year to get bookings, there is a bit of pent up exuberance in getting these bookings.., LOL

We will be staying at BC for the first time this December. So excited!!! What time does Les Halles open in the morning?
