Good morning! I have a couple questions! We've NEVER stayed over on "this side of town". We tend to stay at the GF! So this will be a first, and I feel like a fish out of water.
Where are the CL rooms at the BC? Is there something you would request as far as the CL rooms at BC? We usually stay at the GF in the main building so there isn't much to request other than being on the same floor as the lounge, you know?
Also-I will look through the official cake thread, but figured you guys would know as well. My daughter is turning 13 a few days after our trip, so we'll be celebrating her birthday there. Which is cool, b/c we also were there for her first birthday. Seems appropriate! She wants a cake delivered to our room. We've done this before for my Mom-A gorgeous cinderella cake. Which bakery do I call for this resort?? Any other suggestions on things to have in the room as a surprise for her? I'd love to fill it with balloons or something!
Thanks so much!
Hi Dee so excited had to share we are officially booked for this years Thanksgiving trip at the BC
Staying 11/18/17 - 11/26/17 can you please add us to the list.
Oh thank you! We are just a standard view. We are a family of 5 though, so hopefully we get a daybed. If not, a roll out is fine. But a full balcony-that will probably be my biggest request. So all the CL rooms are on the same floor as the lounge? Thanks!
We are there March 9-13th! This was a very last minute trip! I'm excited to try this resort! I've been scanning your thread-but you know, 700-ish pages is a lot to read!
Sorry if this has already been asked and answered a million times, but my family is staying at YC CL this March and I have an SAB question. We're going with our 13 year old son and 2 year old twins, and wondering what the pool situation is like for my 13 year old to come and go as he pleases, as I'm sure he'll be back and forth to CL getting snacks. Last time I stayed at YC/BC was years ago pre-magic band era and they had wristbands to get in and out. Do they still do the same or do they just check the magic bands now?
We haven't been to Stormalong Bay since September but at that time they were just scanning magic bands. There was a CM at all enterances to scan as you entered. Everyone needs their own magic band to enter. Someone reported that they weren't doing this a few weeks ago but instead CMs were randomly checking magic bands in the pool area. The gates around the pool were apparently not locked either.
Yes, everyone is 3+. Thanks! Are all of your family members over age 3?
My understanding is that families of 5 are given priority for rooms with a daybed over families with fewer members who request one. In the rare circumstance that there are no room available with a daybed when you check-in then I believe they would need to provide a daybed for your room because they have to give you a room that everyone in your family is able to sleep in.
I think so, unless there has been some sort of change.

Eeek...I have to say I am not a fan of no carpet - but not having a bathtub is a deal breaker. Surely this cannot be the norm. I may change resorts for May if this is how all the rooms will be. Optimistically I cannot imagine such a child friendly place not offering bathtubs...I don't want to switch resorts. Will try to patiently wait for more info as refurb progresses!
Thanks for the pictures. I actually like the look & love the shower. I don't know if I have ever been in a hotel room without carpet. Guess I'll have to decide how I like it after staying in a new room.
I have only stayed at the YC once, but I instantly felt (personally) that YC skewed more adult and BC skewed more for families. I could see the no tub shower, hard wood floors, and book lights working for adult travel parties and conference goers and BC for families. After looking at these photos (again!) I was wondering what others would think of the new rooms. I really love them, but we don't have any carpet in our house (other than a few area rugs and the carpet squares our boys installed in the basement for their "man cave.") Also, some of my favorite hotels have no carpets in the rooms. So for our family right now, that's a plus. But no carpet with toddlers is rough - I remember Barcelo in Mexico when our youngest was tiny - he slipped on that floor a gazillion times. So I can definitely see how this will impact families with small children.
Same with the shower. I'm all for it now, but our youngest is 10. When the kids were little, a bathtub was essential.
If some YC rooms have a bath and some have just shower, I wonder if that's something we can add to requests. Might as well take a shower room if we like it (which also leaves rooms with baths for families who need them.)

Kiddo likes to just have toast for breakfast when we travel (he's rather picky, doesn't want to eat too early) so I'm wondering if I can get bread/toast at either resort? I was able to at POP, makes for a cheap breakfast tooHe makes up for it at lunch and dinner though. I have been trying to check the menus but I think it's more of a display thing? At least it was in a section at the back of POP's cafeteria beside things like muffins and such. I would just take a loaf of bread but we won't have a toaster in the room.
Looking forward to our stay. We like the look of both sides but the balcony thing is important to kiddo so we chose Yacht Club as they seem to have more available. We are really looking forward to the pool area!
The only current room request options at on-line check-in for YC are "ground floor, lower floor, and upper floor." You are allowed to make one choice from each of the two drop-down boxes. The list is the same for both drop-down boxes.
The choices at the BC are the same, but with the additional option of "large balcony."
Prior choices, such as "near elevator," are no longer available
Could you get a cheapie toaster from Target or WM and cram it into your checked luggage...maybe even not worry about bringing it home (yes - I know its wasteful). I would imagine you can get bread from the Marketplace shop....or put in a Garden Grocer order for stuff like bread, bottled water, snacks...Kiddo likes to just have toast for breakfast when we travel (he's rather picky, doesn't want to eat too early) so I'm wondering if I can get bread/toast at either resort? There are toasters available for guest use in the BC Marketplace.
