Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

You got some great info from everyone I just wanted to add that we did one trip when my youngest was on a new gf diet and while I was worried beforehand it was easy while at both hotel and parks. I emailed the special diets section on the website and they were great and basically confirmed what everyone had told me-lots if options and very helpful cm and chefs at every location. Much easier to feed him than I ever could have hoped for. If in doubt about any available options just ask as we found everyone very helpful and often had options that weren't listed :)
Yes, Disney and the CM are AMAZING when it comes to dealing with allergies! That is why we loved it so much the first time and why we kept coming back: This feels like a real worry free vacation!

We always went on the Deluxe DP in the past hence most of our meals were TS. The few mornings when we didn't have ADR we either had a big food court handy or DH went hungry until lunch.

The reason why I posted my question specifically on the BC thread is because the QS seemed to offer little options. But we are reassured now, we will plan accordingly thanks to all the answers we got!

Bummer - we were going to be at BC together (I have the magical deal too, late August).

Your 50th isn't next year late Aug. too, is it? We would HAVE to meet up at BC (or any deluxe we get on the magical deal!) if so! (We go every late August.)

ETA I cannot believe I'm turning 50 next year! That's the 1st time I'm writing/realizing this!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for late August.

Checked in to the Yacht Club yesterday. Great resort. The room is in fine condition and we have an awesome view from the room #3157. Watched Illuminations from our balcony and was able to catch the higher shots from HS. Got here at 8am yesterday and they texted us the room was ready at about Noon when we were having lunch at the Tangierine Cafe. Off to Garden Grill for an 8am with Chip and Dale. Will try and post pictures of the fireworks from the room later. Here for today then checking into the Poly tomorrow. Thanks to all who contribute on this thread!

I have a question about the Sandcastle Club. I thought I read somewhere that you can check it out during the day. But now I am only seeing night hours. Has anyone ever been there during the day? Or am I confusing it with something else?
Thanks!

While I have no first hand experience with the Sandcastle Club, I have passed it enough times to know that the standard operating hours are from 4:30 PM to Midnight. I also know that on occasion they will have special [pay for] events early afternoon [1:00 - 3:00ish PM]; things like ceramics, painting, etc. These types of events are usually listed on the monthly activities calendar / schedule. There may be others that have better first-hand information.

Hi there, I have a few q's about the pool activities... can someone tell me what the Changing of the Guard and Stormalong Bay Pool party entails?

Also, does anyone have a review of the tie dye? Can you bring your own item to dye or do you purchase something as part of the activity (a shirt I'm assuming)?

Thank you!

When we were there in March there were many signs inviting you to come and check it out in the afternoon - as our kids are too old now I did not attend to the details of what time exactly, but it was noted in the area around the Marketplace.

Hi all! So I saw a few pages back about being able to make room requests via the Touring Plans website. Has anyone used it and had success?

I took a tour of the Sandcastle Club one afternoon when we were there in February. They hold an open house in the afternoons. They post a sign outside of the door in the hallway next to the Marketplace. I think kids can do arts and crafts with a parent or other adult family member. A lot of the resorts have something like this. I know the WL had it, too.

I didn't ask about the ceramics or any other activity that had a fee.

Okay, I am hoping you BC/YC people can help me! I have to make my FP+ reservations on Wednesday night. Obviously I want FP for Frozen and the new Soarin' (which as of this moment are both scheduled to be open by the 3rd week of June, when we arrive) but they are not yet in the FP system. Even more, Livin' with the Land and Mission: Space are still Tier 1, and I'm expecting that they will move to Tier 2 once Frozen and Soarin' are in the mix.

Do you think I'll be okay just booking Test Track as my Tier 1 for the days I plan to be in Epcot, and then switching around once Frozen and Soarin' are announced? Are there any other strategies or issues of which I should be aware when I plan to switch my FPs?

Where have you seen dates for the scheduled opening of Soarin' & Frozen M & G ?
So far I have only seen rumored dates, but I am keep an eager eye for my Fall trip.
To answer the question, the best you can do now is deal with what is actually in the system now, & keep your eyes on it.

This is the strategy I'm using. FYI, Mission: Space is moved back to Tier 2 already for dates after late May, so you should be fine there. LwtL is still on Tier 1 for now though.

I would totally book my FP for Test Track and then switch when the one you want becomes active. You will definitely be able to change your FP selection at a later date.

The fly in the ointment is that you will have to monitor the Dis Boards and know as soon as day one of when the booking window finally opens for Frozen/Soarin.

The possibility also exists that when Frozen/Soarin opens you may only be able to choose 1 from Soaring OR Frozen OR Frozen meet and greet OR Test Track. The "only one FP choice" from the above mentioned categories is SPECULATION on my part. The reason for this may be to have guests return to Epcot more frequently to boost sagging attendance. When Food and Whine starts up this (potential) throttling will most likely end.

That's just my opinion. For those of you in need of more humorous content, please enjoy this gratuitous picture of an owl having her parade rained on.

Hoping not to disappoint,

We're booked in a standard view room at BC. Our only request was going to be "close to lobby." But on Touring Plans room views, it looks like all the standard view rooms are pretty close to the lobby. We should be good, then, right? Unless we get an upgraded view for some reason. :scratchin Maybe we should still request it, to be sure.

I would request it anyway. There are standard view rooms at the YC end of the hallway and are the farthest rooms from Epcot.
