Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

I am not so sure about that!! When you add the time it takes to park and then walking from the parking deck into Disney Springs. Plus the boat ride is just so peaceful and the scenery is so pretty that it is well worth it. Then when your time is done its a nice feeling that you don't have to worry about getting back to your car and fighting traffic to get back POR. The other nice thing, is that on the boat its not like a bus. There is no over crowding, so standing. So its a nice comfortable ride. I would pick this option

ooops I am bad....totally misread it.... Sorry!!!

We are staying at POR in a royal room for the first time (actually our first trip to WDW ever!). We are only there 2 nights and are planning on spending one full day at Epcot. We will have a rental car. Are we better off to take the car to Epcot or leave it at the hotel and take the bus?
I absolutely hate the entire layout of the buses at Epcot!!! If you have the car.... And you plan Epcot as the only park for the whole day.... I'd use it for Epcot. But, I try to avoid using buses to and from Epcot. Example... if doing MK also that day.... we use the monorail .... DHS, use the boat or walk. Even if we hop between AK, we walk over to Boardwalk to catch the bus from there.

How is Boatwright's Dining Hall? The menu looks delicious! We are planning on using our first day to just enjoy the resort; we also have a group of friends joining us for this part of our honeymoon. Wondering if it would be a nice place for us all to have an enjoyable dinner.

We have eaten there twice, both times our arrival day, and it has been very good. It is a great place for a large group, too, since they have a lot of big tables. :)

It doesn't get a lot of love on the boards it seems, but it was one of our best meals when we went in January. Excellent service and delicious food so we're big fans of the place!

We have enjoyed our dinners there the last 2 visits.

Thanks everyone for the input! I will definitely work on booking that reservation when the time comes :goodvibes

Yay! I've never eaten there and am looking forward to it in March! Thanks for sharing!

I think the buses were the worst leaving Epcot. POR needs more buses here, double buses? We talked about calling for Uber while we were standing in a really long bus line leaving Epcot.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has stayed as a family of 5 in one of the Magnolia Bend mansions? I know the Royal rooms only accommodate 4. I've been given conflicting answers when I've hit "chat" and spoken with a rep on Disneyworld.com. I know that the bayou rooms can accommodate 5 but we would much rather stay in a mansion, if that is possible. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated! TIA

According to portorleans.org, they do not have the fold down bed.
This is based on the room floor plans they show for the different sections. (bayou, mansion/Royal)

Thanks! The Disney reps seemed confused by the question. One also told me that none of the buildings were mansions. Even though the description of POR's Magnolia Bend,on Disney's website, mentions the mansions! I figured that the DIS'ers would have the correct answer!

Mansion rooms only accommodate four (over the age of 2 I think is how they say it) as they have 2 queen beds only. We've stayed in both type rooms & prefer the AB rooms over the mansions.

What is it that you like about Alligator Bayou that makes it your preferred location? We have never stayed at POR, only POFQ and CSR, both of which we love. This trip, our family of four, will be traveling with my sister's family of five, which is why I'm uncertain about rooms that accommodate five. We would like to stay at a moderate, so we are limited to POR and CBR (which my sister stayed at before and disliked). Any advice? Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Disney rep was wrong (it does sometimes happen). All five-person bookings are accommodated in the Alligator Bayou section only - unless one of the children is aged under 3 and will be sleeping in a Pack'n'Play crib/cot. AB is the only area that has the fold-down extra murphy bed, the mansion buildings (both the regular ones and the Royal Room ones) only have two queen-size beds.

I rather like the Bayou rooms to be honest, they have a cute outback/woodsy feel to them, and kids seem to enjoy them.

Andre

We like the Bayou rooms too! They are really cute and woodsy. I like the overall relaxed vibe of that side. If you can get 2 preferred rooms they will automatically be in the Bayou section and much closer to the food court than the other rooms. That is the way to go IMO.
