Refurbishment for Three Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Featured Pools Announced for 2024

The Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Featured Pools that will be closed for refurbishment from January 2024 through April 2024 are:

  • Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
  • Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Doubloon Lagoon at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
While the Featured Pools on the above list will be closed for refurbishment from January 2024 through April 2024, have no fear as there are still opportunities to have some wet fun in the sun during your visit at each Resort Hotel listed.
That’s really early to announce. So I’m guessing we are fine for February 2023. They wouldn’t start that early?

They said spring 2024, so it's unlikely they will do it a year earlier. The could still be routine few days closures, which happen once a year or so.

Hey y'all, I have a couple questions!

Do I have to fold up a stroller for the boat to DS? And does the boat still drop off at Marketplace? I'm trying to decide if we want to have dinner on our arrival day at the resort or DS since it needs to be relatively cheap. My original plan was Blaze pizza but it seems like that would be a bit of a walk. Could the boats take us to Riverside?

Yes, you can take the boat to Riverside but it's a really nice walk along the river to Riverside, probably no more than a 10 min walk

Yes, the boat drops you off at Marketplace.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. Maybe about 10-15 minutes. I was preoccupied taking pictures and video of the ride because you pass by the Treehouse Villas, the Villas dock, the Saratoga Springs dock, one of the golf courses, Saratoga Springs, and then Disney Springs as you approach the marketplace dock between Disney Springs and Saratoga Springs. They're only using that particular dock for all the water taxis.
I love passing by all of that especially the Treehouse villas at night!

Is it me, or are buildings 1, 2, and 3 less shaded/more sunny than the others? For some reason I'm just not fancying that side of the resort as much as the big trees/vibe of the other buildings.

IIRC there used to be more trees on that side of the Resort, but they were removed a few years ago. I thought they were supposed to be replanted, but it's possible that was wishful thinking on my part!

Found this in a Facebook group.

First time staying at PO FQ. We were supposed to stay offsite, but decided Saturday to stay at PO FQ. As with other threads, this has been helpful so far. I'm scrolling through quickly and saw someone posted there are Coke freestyle machine. We weren't planning on getting the refillable mugs this trip, but this has sparked my wife's interest. Where are these machines located or is it just in one location?

We just stayed at POFQ last month. We loved it. Would highly recommend getting the refillable cups. As far as I know, the machines were just located in the food court, however the resort is small, so it’s easier to get around.

I think just in the food court . There a long double sided area with three dispenser locations on each side including coffee. It’s accessible before you go to the parks. We bought the refillable cups & definitely got our money’s worth.

The Coke Freestyle machines are at Sassagoula Floatworks (the food court). There are 8 of them.

We check in on Thursday. I have a couple questions:
Does the room have a refrigerator or one of those "beverage coolers" that they have at POP?
Is the hot tub open?
How late is Scat Cat's open?
TIA!!

The beverage “cooler” in our room was so pathetic we could have gotten the soda cooler by running tap water over it. DH didn’t want me to complain (me without cold soda is not a pretty picture) so we broke out the collapsible cooler we had packed. DD’s cooler was better but I don’t think it was anything to write home about.

We returned from French Quarter on 8/3 and our room in building 5 had a mini refrigerator (not the Pop style of beverage cooler). The only issue we had was food actually freezing if it was placed on the top shelf. The hot tub was open and was across the sidewalk from our room. I highly recommend a first floor room in building 5-we requested to be near the food court. Not sure about Scat Cat’s hours. It is a beautiful resort-enjoy!
