So we are at POFQ right now for our second trip to Disney... originally we had booked the All Stars (where we stayed the first time) but changed resorts as a splurge since we're celebrating my college graduation. That being said...
I wish we would have stayed at the All Stars. There is nothing special about this resort to justify the extra $800ish USD (and since we're Canadian and the dollar sucks it's closer to $1200 extra). And there have been already a handful of times we have said "all stars did this better"
1) The food court is not good. We struggle EVERY time we're here for a meal to find something and when we do eat it, it is NOT good. We had that breakfast croisssant the first morning and it was so soggy and kind of made me feel queasy the rest of the morning. Fiancé said the same thing.
2) Lazy house keeping. Yeah, sure our bed and towels are cleaned, but it's the small things like the Mickey shaped towels that get put on one bed and never get redone (we messed it up by accident and it stayed unravelled for 2 days on the bed until I finally got fed up and threw the towels in a pile to be cleaned up). I just remember last time we came we looked forward to what towel shape they'd leave that day but instead we have a pile of unravelled towels that never got picked up. Again, not necessary but come on it's literally the first thing you see in the doorway. To me it screams lazy. And there was garbage on the floor in the bathroom which was kind of annoying to see
3) Bus lines in the morning are not fun. There's no designated lines for each park so people awkwardly hover and then mad dash to the front of the "line" even though people have been waiting for 20+ minutes. Also in the transportation category, this isn't necessarily because of the resort (or maybe it is idk) but our first night we decided to go to Disney springs and take the boat. One boat passed right by us. Another Picked us up, drove us to riverside and then the driver made us switch boats bc he wasn't going to springs. Yet when we got there he was already there waiting for other passengers! We could have saved 20 mins if he had let us go with him.
4) oh and not necessarily POFQ related but our luggage didn't come until 2am which was annoying
It seems so trivial to complain about this (and no I haven't complained becauase, whatever, they're not big issues just some thoughts I had) but we had a way better time at a value resort which to me is kind of sad. This was supposed to be a splurge vacation and I honestly don't get how people enjoy staying here. It's nothing special and not worth the extra $$$ in our opinion.
Sorry, rant over..
Sorry you are having a less than "magical" vacation. We plan and wait for so long, when things don't go the way we hoped, it just is pretty darned frustrating! Any time we've had issues, though, once I brought them up with Guest Services, they have always been resolved with a very satisfying outcome. Hope the rest of your trip goes well.
Somewhere I read that if you want the towels removed, you are to leave them on the floor in the bathroom, or in the tub. Otherwise, they don't switch them out. They also don't change sheets every day, only every third or fourth day. I think that they started this a few years ago to be more earth friendly (less laundry detergents, etc). I don't change my towels or sheets at home every day, and really don't have a problem with using them for a couple of days while on vacation.
We always leave a nice daily tip for our mousekeepers, and there has never been any issue with cleaning our room. If there was something extra that needed doing, we leave a note or call, and it's always been done by the time we got back to the room.
The food is what I expect of a food court, some really good, (Beignets!!!) some not so good. We've never gone hungry, but then we usually don't eat at fast food restaurants that I would say are "great" anyway, and don't depend on the resort food courts for much except a quick bagel and fruit for breakfast, or maybe a salad for lunch (which was wonderful!) or a quick snack when we return from the park.
As to the buses - there are no specific lines. Some folks like to sit and watch the big boards for arrival of the bus to their destination. When it's on the way, they will queue up. Don't expect that if you arrive early and choose to sit, and others arrive after you and queue up in a line ahead of you, that you will be able to go to the front of the line. If you want to be in the front, stand near where the bus doors open. We usually are at the bus stop early, and stand. When our bus comes, we get closer to the curb. I have never seen anyone make a fuss about who got there earlier - most folks are very polite and we all get on the bus. There is usually a CM there to assist with queuing in the early morning. It's just not a big deal.
As far as the late arrival and luggage delivery - if we were coming in after late-afternoon, we would probably pick up our luggage ourselves at baggage claim, and bring it with us, rather than having it delivered. But that's just me. We always take an early morning flight, and by the time we have checked in, and spent most of the day in a park, when we return to our room in the evening, our luggage is there waiting for us. Love the Magic Express service, as well as the resort airline luggage check for the return trip.
