Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Why I wonder, did they wait until June to announce a closing in July? Seems pretty short-sighted to me, unless there was an unexpected problem...

That has been their standard operating procedure.

Does anyone have an expected open date or is it just fall? This kind of irks me as we have a late August trip planned and one of the pluses for this resort is the food court. It's unclear what will be available at Scat Cat's.

WDW never puts an opening/completion date for projects like these. They are always general, fall of 2017, Spring of 2018, etc. I would suspect Andre might get an exact date once it gets really close.

Is there going to be any type of temporary food court or anything? I really don't like the idea of not having a QS available at the resort

Wait, so there will be no food court or drinking filling station at the resort?

Did either of you read the info in the linked article?

An alternative dining experience will be available adjacent to the lobby andScat Cat’s Lounge. This location will be serving Guest favorites such as jambalaya, gumbo, po-boy sandwiches, other hot and cold entrees, and the resort's famous beignets. A selection of grab ‘n’ go meals also will be available for purchase.

Yes, that's why they are working on the Bonfamille's location at the moment, that will be used as a replacement for the food court for the duration of the refurb. I've known about this work as an upcoming project since this time last year, but until the dates were finally confirmed (the plans have moved and been adjusted, and I believe also downscaled, several times) I was asked not to release anything officially. I did lay as many heavy hints as I could in my April news post about Bonfamille's though... see http://www.portorleans.org/news.php?first=300416

It doesn't say anything about drink stations. Not going to spend $20 to have to take a bus to get a soda. Sad thing is we just switched over to POFQ today from pop for September

I'm checking in on October 23 and received the email about the closure. A bit disappointing, but not a deal breaker for my 4 day trip. As long as I have a place to fill up my mug with coffee & hot chocolate, I'm fine!

I am so disappointed! We arrive July 11! All I can say is, the beignets had better be up to the usual level of excellence -- I've been waiting and waiting to get them. And yes, we need some kind of mug refilling station!

I'd be shocked if they didn't have a drink station during this time

Will it be a big disruption? That's exactly why we chose POFQ over WL and definitely don't want to be around construction with a toddler
I stayed at Poly last year with lots of outdoor construction and wasn't inconvenienced by anything due to it. Being as this is indoor construction and not where the rooms are, I would imagine it shouldn't effect you at all. Disney does a pretty good job minimizing the inconvenience and noise...they just take forever ;)

Beignets and drinl station is all we need to lol. We typically eat off resort for everything else anyway

But, let me add, I haven't received an email like some PPs. Maybe July 11 (our timeframe is the 11th through 18th) is not definite?
