Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Has there been any other word on The restaurant opening for August/September? Thanks!

First time staying on-site. I see there is a coffee maker. My MIL is a tea drinker, can we use it to boil water without coffee in it, and do they supply tea bags or should we bring our own.

I know we can get tea from the QS in the refillable mug, but just thinking of first thing, she may not want to walk over if we can sort it in the room
I used the coffee pot for tea when we went. I removed the little plate that holds the pods (?) and the water poured into my waiting cup. They do not leave tea in the room (well, there might have been a tea bag to start:confused3) I took my own teabags because I didn't buy a refillable mug. If you do, you can pick them up from the cashier and take them back to your room for later(DH-who did have a refillable mug- did that a few times and we had more than enough in the room)

Great, thanks for,that :)

Well you can use the coffee maker to get hot (ish) water, but if your MIL is a proper tea connoisseur she may prefer to use fully boiling water to do the job properly. My wife insists on using a kettle to make her morning tea (and her lunchtime tea, afternoon tea, evening tea and bedtime tea :) ).

She is, and will probably bring some of her own teabags, but coming from the UK, unfortunately we can't bring a kettle :(

We used to bring a travel kettle (we're from the UK also) but they take ages to boil on America's 110v mains. A few years back we bought a cheap US kettle from WalMart and it has served us well ever since. Something like http://www.amazon.com/Aroma-Housewares-AWK-103-Electric-1-Liter/dp/B00TB3GZEW?ie=UTF8&keywords=electric kettle&qid=1465303419&ref_=sr_1_10&refinements=p_36:1253523011&s=kitchen&sr=1-10 would be fine if you don't drive and just want it delivered to the hotel before you arrive.

My wife brings her own Earl Grey tea bags with her too.

Excited to be staying at the French Quarter for the first time in October! I enjoyed Riverside a few years ago, but my room was too far away from the main building and I didn't like having multiple bus stops. I booked a standard 2 queens room and using Touring Plans' room finder decided that I will try to request 3rd floor building 4 because it had a good view for standard and was close to the bus stop and main building. Anyone stayed in building 4 on the parking lot side before that can attest to this?

Also, how late is Scat Cat's open in October? I'm a late night drinker and would like to have a drink or two before I hit the sack.

Thanks for that. I hadn't realised you were from here too! Yes, I had considered just getting a cheap kettle delivered beforehand and just leaving it behind as a donation for someone else. How long before we travel should I order from Amazon.com if we want it there for when we arrive (without it being too early for them to hold it for us?). I was also planning on getting a Garden Grocer order, even though we won't be there long, I figure it's got to be cheaper for water, soft drinks and in-room snacks.

The hours don't change seasonally, so 11:30-midnight closing.

Depends on what shipping you choose, but even with the economy delivery two weeks should be fine to ensure it's definitely there before you are. The resort will keep packages anyway, but they prefer not too much longer than a week or so.

This is where we were for our first trip last month. 175 steps to the food court and not many more to the bus. I would ask for this again.

Perfect! I'm hoping they'll be able to fulfill the request, as it'd be nice to have a short walk after a long day in the parks.

We stayed in building 4 facing the parking lot. Our room was like the second room on the ground floor when you turned the corner, and being one of the rooms almost on the parking lot minus a row of bushes. The view wasn't much but we didn't stay in our room for the view. It however was a perfect spot, we could see the bus stop from our room and could dart over there real quick. The food court was like a 3 min walk. Since we were staying in Sept we could technically walk to the food court while avoiding any rain minus about a few feet at the end which was also nice. We will be requesting standard room, building 4 again.

We requested upper floor corner room. We have a standard view booked so I'm hoping for one in building 3 or 4. Touring plans doesn't show recommended rooms for POFQ. Is there anywhere that would show recommended rooms for the different room categories

I'd suggest requesting where you want to be, not any specific room number (although you could use a range of room numbers to provide a example).

This is the building and room ( and the one or two near) that I have put on my request.
