Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

Excited to be staying at the French Quarter for the first time in October! I enjoyed Riverside a few years ago, but my room was too far away from the main building and I didn't like having multiple bus stops. I booked a standard 2 queens room and using Touring Plans' room finder decided that I will try to request 3rd floor building 4 because it had a good view for standard and was close to the bus stop and main building. Anyone stayed in building 4 on the parking lot side before that can attest to this?

We stayed building 4 Garden view and loved the location. We would request building 4 again. We requested a corner room and loved it.

Wish we were staying her in September but booked Riverside for Free dining

These are from the first week it opened in March. There was a crew doing touch up work on the regular slide the day I took these but it is still there. Hope this helps.

These are great pictures! The new area looks like a lot of fun - - just the kind of things DD would have enjoyed up until a year or two ago. I can't see, though, if they took down the shell with the alligators underneath. Do you remember seeing that, or not?

I'm just so excited to go on that slide! Four more weeks...

The shell with the three alligator musicians is still there, that's on the other side of the main pool.

Only one lone alligator was sacrificed to make way for the new kids' play area:

I've been studying the iThemePark video on YouTube and have become obsessed with those guys!
Poor lone alligator! :)

We love the alligators and theming for the pool area. I know it doesn't always get great reviews in the blogger realm, but I think it's one of the best. Glad to see that only one gator was a casualty. My kids are gonna go crazy for that new pool playland

Not seeing any resort specific t-shirts on the parks app. Anyone know if the gift shop is selling POFQ t-shirts?

I loved that guy. Both times I stayed in Bldg 2, I would walk by him after breakfast and say good morning. RIP mon ami.

The new splash area looks nice, but I wish they'd managed to move the Gator somewhere.

We are at POFQ right now and they are definitely enforcing the height limit.
Difficult for you to know I expect but would you have noticed any exceptions to the rule? I am concerned as my DGS will love it as he has special needs but by the time we take him next year he will be very likely just over the height :(

I'm sure this has been answered a million times. But why is POFQ excluded from discounts? :/ I'm taking a last minute trip in August with my Mom and really wanted to stay at one of the PO resorts. Riverside is about $300 more expensive than CSR, and POFQ isn't even open for the discount. I know this is typical, but I wasn't sure why?

Because it is small and has no trouble booking up.

Does anyone have an expected open date or is it just fall? This kind of irks me as we have a late August trip planned and one of the pluses for this resort is the food court. It's unclear what will be available at Scat Cat's.
