We made our decision... finally! Booking when the packages release for Pop. I chose a preferred room for the first time ever. I usually always go standard but with the baby, granted we will have the stroller.. I thought it might be nice to be close for once. Is preferred worth the money or should I just book standard? One of my hang ups with going back to Pop was the walk to the bus stop depending on the building we’re in.

I feel like it’s really your personal preference. I have never minded the walk from the standard rooms at the value resorts, but the moderate resorts are another story. I think if you have the extra money, then just book preferred so you are guaranteed a good location. You are going to have a little one with you, you will be exhausted, and saving yourself an extra walk may make the vacation more enjoyable for you.

We usually book preferred. However, on our last trip this past April, we stayed standard pool view in the 80's. I fell in love with that section and was surprised that the walk was no big deal. I don't have little ones anymore, so that may be something that would keep me in the preferred rooms. I liked the quiet atmosphere I had in the 80's vs. the preferred 50's I had a the Princess Half Marathon Weekend!

I completely agree with this. We were in building 10 on the end at Pop and I can't imagine we could've gotten much closer to the buses. The only resort I thought was a long walk for a standard room was at AKL.

Not really what you're asking but in Jan we were in building 7, on the back and top floor. One of the furthest locations from Classic Hall. In the evening after long days in the parks, it took us about 6 minutes to walk slowly to our rooms from the food court. In the mornings we were faster and would often cut through the parking lot to get to the buses and it probably took about 3-4 mins.

In my own opinion, what makes a difference in terms of how far I feel from the buses and classic hall is a first floor room. I find any time I have to wait on an elevator, I feel further away. We’ve stayed in building 10 preferred (on the third floor) and building 10 standard (on the first floor). The first floor room felt closer to me even though it was technically a further distance because I didn’t have to wait on an elevator. We frequently end up using the elevator even in the preferred rooms where the stairs might be closer because my DD sometimes needs a wheelchair. It might not feel like it’s as far if you always use the stairs.

Thank you! That's exactly what I am asking just for buildings 5, 6, 9, or 10. Looking to request a good location that would give us the shortest walk to Classic Hall in the mornings for coffee and a from the buses at the end of the day when we're tired.

I understand that standards are the furthest away but I'm sure some are in better locations than others. We booked a BB offer last year and preferred rooms weren't available to book so switching to that category is not an option for us.

Thank you! That's exactly what I am asking just for buildings 5, 6, 9, or 10. Looking to request a good location that would give us the shortest walk to Classic Hall in the mornings for coffee and a from the buses at the end of the day when we're tired.

I understand that standards are the furthest away but I'm sure some are in better locations than others. We booked a BB offer last year and preferred rooms weren't available to book so switching to that category is not an option for us.

Just a note, all refurbished rooms now have coffee makers so you have the option to make it there and safe yourself the am walk to classic hall.

Looking here you will see that there are standard rooms can be the same distance as preferred rooms. Our very favourite rooms are standard rooms in the 60's!! One time we were standard in the 60's and my bother's family was 'upgraded' to Preferred in 60's and step by step, we were closer in our standard room with a beautiful view of Hourglass Lake!

We LOVE the 90s section, not sure what building number that is. We felt like the location was perfect and the walk to the buses wasn’t that bad! I’ve requested it over 4 trips and only received my request once though :/

This will be our first time at Pop since the pool fences went in. We are booked in pool preferred (simply because it was the only category left with AP discount). We are also going in the heart of SATG season (mid July). Since there’s a fence there, does that mean people can’t hang out in the 60s courtyard all night? We aren’t early to bed people, but noise at 2am isn’t optimal either, lol.

We stayed in the 90s building closest to the 90's parking lot, and it was perfect for us. Our car was an easy walk so we could basically use it as storage for our bags once we'd unpacked, which was nice since the rooms can be a little cramped, and it was the quickest walk on property to the buses. There may be one 80s building that is slightly closer to the Main Hall than the 90s building nearest the parking lot, but that's just 50-100 yards, and being closer to the car and transportation buses were well worth it to us. Plus, all the rooms in that building were already renovated - bonus!

What is SATG?

There are tables outside of the fenced pool area so the possibility of people sitting there outside of pool hours exists. I hope they're quiet if they choose to be there later at night. I'm pretty sure Disney security would move them on if it was late at night and you had to call Guest Services.
