So our 2 year old is getting a "crib" (well, based on my requests he is!) but there's No.Way.Ever. He'll sleep in there, I'm actually worried people won't believe he's 2...he's GIGANTIC (people think he's twins w/ our DD4, and she's tall for her age). Wondering if anyone's ever taken the mattress out of the crib to use as a pallet type of bed on the floor? Yeah, these are the random things I think of instead of cleaning and packing Thanks!

We aren't too picky, was thinking originally just requesting top floor for noise reasons we have a 17 month old and the better sleep she gets the better trip we will all have... But now I'm thinking maybe less walking is better and a closer building is important. Maybe 60's?

Hey, learn something new every day! i am glad to hear it's a pack n play actually! Perfect for our DD4mo I've only ever stayed at Shades of Green and they sadly have creepy institutional metal barred cribs...but the mattresses were nice

What type of room did you book? That may make a difference in our recommendations
At on line check in you can choose 4th floor and an era that you like.
There are alot of great locations that are close to Classic Hall and transportation.

I've heard that in some resorts you can pull the fridge out from the wall and there are controls on the back. Are these different?

Our stuff was frozen too! It was so annoying. I even put a towel around some stuff, and took out some water bottles (frozen solid).

Don't know what it is about those fridges, but wish you could adjust them.

The controls are on the back of the fridge. We had the same problem when we went in September. All our stuff was freezing! You do have to pull the fridge out a bit from it's little shelf. Be aware it was quite dusty back there! Much better after we adjusted it!

Here is the map. Standard rooms are anything that is not highlighted:
For a standard room, I prefer 60's or 70's to be closest to classic hall and transportation. I do like the 50's on the back side of building 3 but if you choose 4th floor and 50's, there is a chance that you will be assigned building 2 and it is not close at all, especially after a long day at the parks. Personally, I only book standard so I can't help you with whether preferred is worth it. I can't imagine it making but maybe a couple minutes difference if you are in the 60's or 70's section, so it would not be worth it to me but again, that is just my own personal opinion. Hope this helps and maybe others will give their faves. Have fun!

We booked connecting rooms, preferred. Did online check-in yesterday and requested 60's and 4th floor. What are my chances of getting all that?

Okay don't know if this helps, but

Look at the 70's on the top building where it says 6107. I had a standard room (requests were 1st floor/near transport). My room was exactly where the 1 is in 61. Right by the circle sidewalk (and FYI that is where the golf/housekeeping carts parked, if that noise is going to bother you, you don't want by the circle I grew up listening to trains and interstates I find motors comforting so it didn't bother me at all). Plus that circle has a stand of trees and you can see the lake through the trees if you like a lush view.

Really quick to the foodcourt. 2.5-3 minutes, no worries.

The buses that are in front of the food court were from left to right Disney Springs, AK, Epcot, DHS, and MK.

So if I wanted to go to MK or DHS I left my room turning right walked to the sidewalk where you see Goofy(or you could go around the end of the building to the sidewalk that exits the courtyard but I preferred the Goofy route). I went to the main building entered the food court and cut through the gift shop which exits right next to the farthest right bus stop which is MK. Took around 3-3.5 minutes average.

If I was going to Disney Spring or AK I would turn left out of my room go through the center of the building and cut across the courtyard in between the creepy foozeball players, and then follow the building to the end and take the side walk to the 90s parking lot and curve around the right hand side to the cross walk and catch those buses. Again 3-3.5 minutes average. Epcot was the toss up either way was about the same. This was also my preferred rain route as you are under the cover of the building/bus area then you hightail it to building 10 and then to building 6 all under cover of the walkways except for that little piece of parking lot and the quick dash across the courtyard.

So I figure it's probably maybe 30 seconds more from anywhere in the 70s and maybe 1 minute more from the furthest room in the 60s once you are on the ground.

I'm a bit of a fast walker but I'm not athletic (big girl and I had huge blisters from Tuesday on). So if I can do that I figure anyone athletic and healthy can cut at least 45-60 seconds off my time.

The carts ran all day. Like they were arriving when I was leaving for park opening and they were still there when I was in the room at night. Granted at night it was only a couple of times. Like maybe security was parking there doing a round then leaving to the next area? I just happened to be RIGHT next to it. If you were closer to the ends of the buildings I'd think it would be less noise. And mostly the noisy part was the starting of the motor, the actual running of the carts is not super loud.

We have had a 4th floor room several times and last year was the first time ever that I had gotten a ground floor room assigned. I had requested 50's & 4th floor and got building 2 (50's) and a ground floor. Honestly, when we were assigned a ground floor room I was worried but we actually loved it so much we are requesting ground floor for our trip this month. No elevator to wait on and it just seemed so simple to just walk out the door and head to buses. I didn't care for building 2, it was just too far from everything but it was soooo quiet on the backside of that building. We were in the same room location as bookgirl but in building 2, just outside the circle. I actually never heard any noise BUT we bring a fan with us and we keep it on anytime that we are in the room (even if it is facing the floor or the ceiling-it is just for a noise barrier) and that really helps drown out the noise. The standard side of the 60's is also a super quiet area. There are no service circles and you are far enough away from the lake/walking trail that you only get the foot traffic from people going to their room, which you are going to get in any room. I have heard/read that 4th floor, 60's and 4th floor 50's are the 2 most popular requests but that would not stop me from requesting 60's & 4th floor if that is what I was hoping for. We have actually stayed in building 3434 in building 3 with a perfect view of the fireworks but we were only in the room once during an 8 day trip to enjoy it. Alot of people feel that the 4th floor is more quiet because there is no one above you but you have to weigh what is most important and remember that being on the 4th floor may be a little quieter but waiting for the elevators can add another 2+ minutes of waiting for an elevator. Now that we have stayed in every section, 60's and 70's have been our favorite era's and as of right now, ground floor has been our favorite floor for the convenience. Like you, I over analyze everything, especially my Disney trips so you are definitely not alone. And if it makes you feel any better, this will be our 9th trip to POP, and even though we have our favorite era's and floors, we have never disliked any of our rooms

I have read/heard that 60's, 4th floor and 50's, 4th floor are the most requested area's but again, that is just what I have read/heard.
I would say you have the same chance as me getting my requests and that is about 50/50
Last year I requested 50's/4th floor and got 50's (building 2) and ground floor.
The previous trip, I requested 50's/4th floor and got 50's (building 2) and 2nd floor.

This year we have requested 60's and ground floor so hopefully they won't put us in building 2 again.

I think if you get one of your requests, feel lucky, if you get them both you hit the jackpot!

I guess I feel like there is more to plan but realistically there isn't much planning for a 3 night stay. The only goal is to see the Osborne lights.

I always make room requests but this time I feel like I should just throw caution to the wind and request nothing just to see what we get. Now I'm rethinking that idea because I don't want to end up being assigned the room that is at the very farthest point. I've stayed in the 60's and 70's. I'm going back to POP in March and for sure will want 60's for that trip.

Especially for a short stay, I would throw caution to the wind. You never know, you may find your new favorite location. That has happened to us at 3 different resorts. We had our favorite location and when we didn't get it the room we did get was even better. We would have never thought to request that location before. The Disney gods work in mysterious ways like that.
