Hi everyone! This will be our first time at Pop. Staying Feb. 27 to March 5. Me, DH, Dd5 and DD 2.5. We will have a stroller. Are there elevators in the buildings? We booked a standard room thru Orbitz.
Yes all buildings have elevators.

Yes, each building has elevators in the center of each building behind the giant icons.

That is exactly right, he'll have to be to the Hilton by 8am. TY for the suggestions. I think I'll do 50's and close to transportation since floor doesnt matter. We'll have a stroller but can take the elevator for that, no biggie.

It wouldn't hurt to call and add your requests to your ressie IF you really prefer a ground floor room. Building 1 is definitely going to be the closest for your DH unless he plans on breakfast at Classic Hall before he leaves. So calling and adding 'Lady building 1, close to transportation & ground floor" would be 3 very realistic requests.

I'm heading to POP in 15 days for my first ever Solo trip. I'm just heading down for two nights to see the Osbourne Lights and Mickey's Christmas Party. I hope they still have tye dye cheesecake (its been a few years since I stayed there).

Never hurts to try!! He will get breakfast each morning at the conference. Thanks for all your help!!

It was there a year ago and thankfully haven't of it being discontinued! :hippie:

Tye Dye Cheesecake is still there but it is so sad compared to the original tye dye cheesecake :sad2:

Original Tye Dye Cheesecake 2011

Tye Dye Cheesecake now September 2014-- There is just a tiny little bit of red velvet cake, but you have to look for it.

Only 40 days to go here!

The tie dye cheesecake is some kind of round thing now?

I had it the other day (the round one) but since then it's been out everytime I've been down there along with about every other dessert cake but it was good when I had it

I didnt care for the round version. It wasnt bad but it wasnt really good either. It didnt have enough cheesecake flavor IMO.

Yup. And is nothing compared to the original. :crazy2:
I agree! Doesn't even compare to the original. You have to dig to find the red velvet cake. Now I just stick to the make your own sundae.
If they were trying to save money, I wish they would have just cut down on the portion size to a smaller slice. The cake to cheesecake ratio is soooo off now.
And I miss the moms night out TV dinners too. And the Icee's!!!
Little by little, they have gotten rid of the nostalgic dinners in the POP dining.
Here are some pictures from the internet that I found of the Mom's night out TV dinners, just for old time sake :rotfl:

Yes Planogirl. It has been compacted into one of those little plastic containers.

If you are going to try it, look through the ones that they have in the case, look at the bottom for the one with the most red velvet cake (see the one in the middle or the one on the end to your right). If you don't, you will get all cheesecake and just a dab of red velvet cake and the ratio will be way off.

Wow Spoerlx3, those TV dinners look good. I hope that they didn't replace them with those strange burgers. I prefer my burgers without hotdogs please! ;)

Thanks for the information about the cheesecake. I was curious about those.

We're heading back to Pop a month from today! We booked a preferred room as a "splurge" for this trip since we couldn't swing upgrading to a mod. I haven't done our online checkin yet because I had a question I'm sure someone here can easily answer. Do I need to request "close to transportation" if we're booked preferred? I plan on requesting 50s but am not sure if I need to request being close to transportation or if that's just assumed with preferred? We'd also prefer a ground floor room so we don't have to deal with the elevator for the stroller but I don't want to choose that over the transportation option. Any input would be appreciated!

Also, we'll be getting into MCO around 9:45 am, so I'm requesting early checkin/room availability/whatever it's called which I know can negate whatever preferences I put. But, again, if preferred automatically = close to transportation, that won't be overridden if I choose the early checkin option, right? I definitely want to be able to get into the room ASAP but also want to be sure we get the preferred that we paid for.

We stayed at Pop last month in a preferred room. Any preferred room you get will be closest to the bus stop and Classic Hall. I requested first floor 60s but checked the box for room ready being the priority since we landed at MCO early like you. We ended up with 2nd floor 60s. It really wasn't bad at all with the stroller. The elevators were always fast and not crowded.

They were delicious!

The yellow highlights outline the preferred rooms. You really can't go wrong with any of the preferred room area's getting close to transportation.
The preferred rooms are closest to Classic Hall and transportation so IMHO it would be redundant to check "close to transportation".
I agree with a ground floor but only because I am extremely claustaphobic.
Let me start by saying that I LOVE the 50's, I would want to point out one drawback (for my family) and that is the location on this map where the smoking section is. It is the little blue circle smack dab in the middle of the preferred rooms between building 1 and 2 and it is a very popular and busy smoking area. If your family are smokers, it is a great location. If not, then not so much. In an earlier post, I shared our story about being assigned in building 2 in our trip September last year. There was never less than 4 or 5 smokers in that smoking area and we had to hold our breathe and run past the smoking area coming and going from our room until we found the LOOOONG detour down the walking path around the lake to get to our room. If you have anyone in your family that is sensitive to cigarette smoke, I would definitely reconsider a ground floor room in the 50's. A higher floor may help. Just make sure if you need to stay away from the smoking area, that you find another detour to your room. If you book preferred, that portion of your reservation "should" not be overridden by requesting that you room is ready.
:tinker:Pixie dust for your perfect room!

It's funny because I plan to drive most days and it looks like most of the standard rooms are better located for that. It'll be interesting to see where we end up.

What did you finally choose for your room requests? :flower1:
