Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

We're staying at Pop again at the end of February and can't wait! We loved our first stay there. There were 10 of us, and we got adjoining rooms and were very close to the bus!

Is a microwave and industrial toaster still available to use in the food court? Is it ok to bring food there from your room to cook/warm up?

We just got back from 11 nights at pop and had an amazing time.

Unfortunately while unpacking I realized that we must have forgot to empty a drawer and are missing a bunch of stuff. Does anyone have experience with this? Will they ship my stuff to me if I pay the shipping fees (we live in Canada)? Is there a direct number for pop so that I can contact them or do I just call the main Disney line and hope I get someone that can help me?

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.

We stayed at Pop the 1st week of Nov and it was our 3rd time at that resort. Our family really loves it! We did a split stay at Movies and in our opinion, loved Pop so much more! When we were at Movies, the food court spelled so bad and was dirty around the drink areas. We checked into our room and the fridge wasn't working and there was blood stains on the curtain that divides the room from the bathroom area. I also like Pop's grounds better, the lake and the fact that we could walk over to AoA if we want.

I've not had this happen at Disney, but I've left a phone charger in my room at another hotel and they said they would mail it to me if I paid the shipping.

My Magic Band has shipped! This will be my first stay at POP as well as my first time to visit WDW during the Christmas season. :wave2:

Ditto! I got the conf that my bands shipped yesterday too, first stay at Pop, and first WDW during Christmas. right there with you.

Did the Christmas Tree go up yet? It wasn't up when we left on the 16th. I thought it would have been up by then. We didn't miss it did we???

I check in next Wed 12/3/14!! :cool1::banana: I have been running around getting last minute things, clothes, shoes, toiletries and such.
Hoping the weather holds out.

I'm so excited!
We check in on 12/7 for a 5 night stay!
This will be our first time at POP, our first time at a Value resort, first time at Christmas season, and our first time on the Disney Dining Plan.
We usually stay at DVC, moderate or Deluxe.
In fact, this is a very unusual trip for me (us).
I'm a widowed mom of 7 kids ages 7-25. Since my husband passed, 2 yrs ago, we have taken 1 trip with everyone(minus my 21 yr old), plus girlfriend of oldest son and my 2 youngest siblings, 18 yr old twins; that's 10 people if you lost count! And then a trip with just my minor aged kids, that's 6 total plus friends joined us bringing total to 8. Then I also took 2 short trips with just my 3 teens, but second trip we had their 2 friends and their mom( my best friend), for a total of 7.

This is not the norm for our family , but I purchased DVC special priced annual passes last year and we have definitely gotten our money's worth out of them. It's been a difficult year (the first year being more of a blur....in shock), and these frequent Disney trips have really been a welcome escape and a great way to spend quality time with my kids, especially the 2 trips with my 3 teens, who have really struggled with the loss of their dad.

Like I said, this trip is different. I'm taking just my two 7 year olds!
This will feel so weird to me, but I'm really looking forward to this new way to experience Disney. I predict many character meet and greets, lots of stops at the pressed quarter machines, and of course many smiles:)

So, we have the preferred room choice, I'm renting a car, and I'll have my kids' manual wheelchair. ( they're both special needs and have their own wheel chairs but I can only push one, so they will take turns in one, which they've done before and it works out fine).
Do any of you veteran POPsters have any tips, advice, info that would be helpful for our first stay at POP? Especially any helpful info with regards to wheelchairs, parking, food court?

Oh! I forgot to mention, this is a surprise trip for my 7 yr olds. They won't know till the morning of our departure day. I finalize the adoption of the oldest 7 year old on 12/15, so I'm telling them this is in celebration of that; older kids are happy to stay home: they're kind of Disney'ed out, as they put it, and have mandatory dance rehearsals for The Nutcracker anyway.

We won't be back to WDW for at least 2 years, so this final visit will be special:)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Shanna

I'll be at pop end of February too ... Couldn't imagine staying anywhere else ... love pop

Was there for 10 days at the end of October and had a blast!! This was my 2nd Solo trip. Never had any problems. Had a preferred room bldg 1 by the luggage area, 4th floor. Housekeeping would leave a bag of towels, etc when I left the do not disturb tag out. Pool bar was great. Food court was alright. They changed the Nachos to tostino like chips and the chili you could tell was straight out of can with a lot of garlic and onions added to it. So needless to say I did not have any!! Smell yuck. Last year they had the homemade potato chips and more like taco/hamburger meat and its awesome. Cupcakes..yellow cake was soo good and really fresh. Refillable mugs where different than 2013 mugs, design wise. Colors red, green, purple, blue.
Buses never really had much of a wait. No problems with my Magic band and could charge quite well with it!!! LOL

Just checked in for our 6 night stay!

Quick question on AP discounts. We ate in the food court and was told by the cashier that they no longer give a discount for AP holders, only TIW. If true, when did this change?

Does POP still have the heat and A/C units by the window?

Or do they now have a wall thermostat, with a regular heating and cooling system?

26 days till I arrive! :cheer2:

We were there mid October and they had the wall thermostat.
We were in building 5 in the 60s.
