Question for Southerners, what's a Northern recipe you just find strange and one you find intriguing?

I’m in the Memphis TN suburbs, and yes. It’s like once a year since we moved here 9 years ago. A few days ago the feels like was 10*.

I’m a PNW transplant to the south, and I moved here accustomed to -30* windchill.

Southerners and Northerners, if you were ever to move to the other's part of the country, what would be the first question you would ask about the region?

Can I buy beer/alcohol on Sunday? When we moved to TN from the west coast you could not.

Dating question for Southerners. I'm currently setting up an online dating profile and I'm curious if people from the South have dated someone from the North before? Were there cultural issues in the relationship or did the regional cultural differences not really matter overall?

Northerners: are you bored during winter? I don't think I'd ever leave my house if it was snowing lol.

YES! Luckily I work from home and my busy season is during the winter so that's an excuse not to leave the house. I am not a fan of snow and would much rather sit on the beach somewhere. Although it was a bit toasty at Disney in May. I'm not sure that I want it to be that soupy outside all the time either.

I live in Texas and I’ve grown less tolerant of the heat and humidity over time. Hot weather lasts so long here. Last summer we had another record of triple digits. I’m hoping for a rainy summer to keep things cooler.

I went to basic training in TX. Even the jack rabbits were hot! When I came home I thought 80 was cold.

Northerners - what do you think about sweet tea?

Love it! That's the only way to drink it.

Another Maryland question here - thoughts on Old Bay seasoning? Personally I think it's gross but I'll tolerate it on crabs. Anything else, no thanks. I saw someone buying Old Bay honey butter at the store today so that made me think to ask.

Also I've seen Old Bay flavored vodka in liquor stores around here to which I'm like no thank you.

I like old bay. Apparently the Old Bay Caramel popcorn from Fisher's is good.

Is hunting a big past time in the north? We don't hunt but I know plenty of others in the south that do.

Yes! Our schools have off the first day of hunting season in PA.

In SC it depends on the county. It's not a state rule. The county I live in you can buy alcohol on Sunday-- beer/wine but not liquor. In one of the next counties over you cannot.

My mom used to tell the story of the first time my cousin from the South saw snow. It was before I was born, but the tale is that they were driving up for a visit, and as soon as they reached an area with snow, he convinced his dad to stop the car so he could get out and touch it.
