I'm so excited!
We check in on 12/7 for a 5 night stay!
This will be our first time at POP, our first time at a Value resort, first time at Christmas season, and our first time on the
Disney Dining Plan.
We usually stay at DVC, moderate or Deluxe.
In fact, this is a very unusual trip for me (us).
I'm a widowed mom of 7 kids ages 7-25. Since my husband passed, 2 yrs ago, we have taken 1 trip with everyone(minus my 21 yr old), plus girlfriend of oldest son and my 2 youngest siblings, 18 yr old twins; that's 10 people if you lost count! And then a trip with just my minor aged kids, that's 6 total plus friends joined us bringing total to 8. Then I also took 2 short trips with just my 3 teens, but second trip we had their 2 friends and their mom( my best friend), for a total of 7.
This is not the norm for our family , but I purchased DVC special priced annual passes last year and we have definitely gotten our money's worth out of them. It's been a difficult year (the first year being more of a blur....in shock), and these frequent Disney trips have really been a welcome escape and a great way to spend quality time with my kids, especially the 2 trips with my 3 teens, who have really struggled with the loss of their dad.
Like I said, this trip is different. I'm taking just my two 7 year olds!
This will feel so weird to me, but I'm really looking forward to this new way to experience Disney. I predict many character meet and greets, lots of stops at the pressed quarter machines, and of course many smiles
So, we have the preferred room choice, I'm renting a car, and I'll have my kids' manual wheelchair. ( they're both special needs and have their own wheel chairs but I can only push one, so they will take turns in one, which they've done before and it works out fine).
Do any of you veteran POPsters have any tips, advice, info that would be helpful for our first stay at POP? Especially any helpful info with regards to wheelchairs, parking, food court?
Oh! I forgot to mention, this is a surprise trip for my 7 yr olds. They won't know till the morning of our departure day. I finalize the adoption of the oldest 7 year old on 12/15, so I'm telling them this is in celebration of that; older kids are happy to stay home: they're kind of Disney'ed out, as they put it, and have mandatory dance rehearsals for The Nutcracker anyway.
We won't be back to WDW for at least 2 years, so this final visit will be special
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
