Can someone at POP or recently returned provide a picture of the current gondala construction? We were wanting to try to get a lake view, but was wondering if the wall is still blocking generation gap bridge. Thanks
I am not currently there but can confirm that the wall will be up on generation gap bridge until the gondola station construction is completed and quite possibly until the gondolas are functional.

The wall goes down the centre of the bridge, still allowing access between Pop and AoA.

If you go back and look on this thread for posts in Jan/Feb, I believe you will see pictures of the wall. It has not changed.

If not, on the transportation board there is an entire thread dedicated to gondola construction and I know there are pictures there.

Hope this helps.

We were at Pop last weekend. The wall is still there just like what scrappingontario has described. Our room at 6459 is a lake view and we dont see the bridge from our room. The view is beautiful!

Just checked in. Loving it, again! We were here ten years ago with the kids who were 6&7, and now we're back and they're 16&17. Different trip, for sure!

Room 6233 has a tub :)

And, I can confirm, a twin size air mattress will fit next to the door.

Thank you so much for posting!

My recent Pop review:
I stayed there just myself for one night. I was visiting my brother and his family who were in WDW for their first family trip and I was looking for an inexpensive room for the night while still being on property. This was my first time in a value resort. As a family we usually stay at the Deluxe resorts and I once stayed at a moderate (POFQ) during a solo trip. I chose Pop over the All-Stars because I liked the look of the refurbished rooms. As a solo traveler, I could leave the murphy bed up and have more space in the room.

I was in a preferred room, 70's section, building 10, second floor, room #0264. I had the tub/shower combo in the bathroom. This was a connecting room.

I arrived via Magical Express around 9:30am. The on-line check in hadn't been working for days before my trip so I needed to stop at the front desk. There were very few people there so I was able to check in quickly. I was pleasantly surprised that my room was ready that early. Since I was only staying one night, they gave me my ME letter during check in.

Buses were fine. They always had the double "accordion" buses so even if there were no seats it still wasn't overly crowded.

The room location was great and I'm definitely glad I spent the extra for a preferred room. On my way back after a long day in MK, I suspected I forgot to pack pajamas. I went to my room to check and then walked back to Classic Hall pretty quickly.

The store part of Everything Pop was a decent size. I was thinking I might have to just buy an oversized t-shirt, but I was able to find a nightgown for about $25 with my AP discount.

I liked to room, but it did feel a bit small. It was perfect for me, but I don't think I'd like it with the whole family. I also felt that the blanket was too thin. I was comfortable enough temperature wise, but it felt more like a thick sheet than a blanket. I also would have preferred a bit more space on the end table. Although I think its small for a whole family, I do think its a great value. They really made great use of the space with the remodel and there is plenty of storage. The room was clean and very quiet. (I did not see any tour groups or large groups of teens).

I spent the next morning in HS then came back to Pop. I ate lunch in the food court. There were a lot of options and plenty of grab and go items. I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries. I thought it was very tasty but both the pork and fries were just a bit too salty. And I would have definitely liked more co slaw on my sandwich. I think next time I'd get a side of co slaw and skip the fries.

After that, I picked up my bag from luggage services and headed back to the airport.

So, overall, I really liked Pop. I'd likely stay there again as a solo or maybe as a couple. I probably wouldn't for a family unless it was a money issue.

They do sell milk but not cases of water. You might want to order water in another way, like through Amazon Prime, delivered to the resort. Just keep in mind that Disney charges $5 for deliveries.

you can buy water. Possibly not an entire case but many have reported buying smaller cases. If you do a search on this thread you will see many recent reports of people buying small cases of water at Pop.

I’ve been following this thread for over a year and a half and the bottled water situation at the POP continues to baffle me. Why don't they always offer cases of bottled water? When we went last June we were lucky that they offered cases of 24 or 30 bottles 12 oz. bottles for a relatively reasonable price of $7 (?) but the hoops that we had to go thru were ridiculous. They were not available from the coolers so you had to ask for them from the food court cashiers. Most of them didn’t know about it, and if you were lucky enough to find someone who did, they had no idea about the cost or how to enter it into the register. A month or two later, they were available in the coolers and a few months after that they were to available at all. I just don’t understand why they don’t always have it available. I’m sure profits (ie Making more from individual bottles) is part of the rational, but that’s just so short sided. With the temperature at WDW, especially in the summer, they should go out of there way keeping guest hydrated.

If you're on Twitter, follow @bioreconstruct. They post a lot of construction photos, and I've recently seen ones for the Pop gondola construction

I’m guessing they just don’t have the space to always have cases of water on display. They take up a lot of real estate in a relatively small area that is servicing almost 3000 rooms. The other thing is I’m just not sure they’re in as high demand as other things. In my 20+ stays I have never seen a person purchase a case of water (even when I saw them out occasionally) compared to the other food and drink options available.

Personally we’re not a family who sees the need to purchase bottled water at Disney or at home. We request glasses of water at fast food locations all the time. We bring refillable water bottles from home and ask for ice water at quick service locations throughout the day when at Disney. I don’t want the added weight in my backpack if 4 or 6 bottles of water when we leave the room.

To each their own but I really think it comes down to supply and demand, how much space cases of water take up plus as you say, their profit margin is much higher on individual bottles.

Great review and good point about the blanket on the bed - it is like a sheet. I loved the room but also got cold at night and was wishing for a blanket. I'm one of those people with the covers on and off multiple times a night no matter where I set the thermostat - lol!

Does anyone know if you can request an actual blanket from housekeeping?

I'm hoping you get an answer about this, also. I like a heavier blanket-in a cold room!:lmao:

Just an FYI-the 24 packs of 12 ounce bottles are no longer available at POP or anywhere else on property.

Below is what is now available at the WDW Resorts.:)

I would call and ask...or better yet, if you (or someone who is there now) see a housekeeper ask her/him what they have available (when you call housekeeping you go to a call center and they may or may not know what types of blankets are available). At worst, they will be able to give you more of the thin blankets to layer with. I was pleasantly surprised that housekeeping could provide us with a foam egg-crate mattress topper at AoA a few weeks ago. They may have different weight blankets available.

there is a thin blanket between the two sheets on the beds. I’m sure you could request extra blankets.

The space issue does make sense. That said, they could easily put up a sign saying larger cases available, ask at register. I’m sure the damand probably isn’t that high, just saying cases (6, 12 or 24) is a nice option and it is a fairly common question asked in this thread. We picked up 3 cases during our trip, and every time I walking back to our room atleast one person asked where I got it.

We’re also not a family that purchases bottle water at home, but we like to stay hydrated at WDW, especially since we go in the summer. We bring double walled bottles with us to the parks and fill them with the bottled water before heading to the park. We also request ice water at quick service locations, or purchase a bottle of water when it’s more convenient. The metal bottles do add a little more weight and take up room, but it’s so nice to have ice cold water with us at all times.

Also agree that profit margin probably does come into play. It’s just interesting/wierd how it seems like case options are always changing.

Thanks @WEDWDW for the post and picture. I guess 8 packs isn’t that bad and doesn’t cut into their profit margin as much as larger cases do.:rotfl:

I think when we went they were only offering cases of those dinky 8 oz bottles at around the same price in the cooler.

Can you get the 10 dollar a night gift card for turning down Mousekeeping here?

Regarding housekeeping… We are there for 13 nights so would get $120 gift card if we declined.
Also, I usually leave $7 a night for housekeeping which I would save if I decline also. I would leave about $20 on the last day for that one day of cleaning though.

So declining housekeeping would “save” me $191.

Still deciding if I’m going to do it or not.
