Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

How are the lines at Trader Sam’s? I’m taking a sabbatical from social media so I don’t have access to my usual Twitter follows. I know it was crazy on the first day but not sure if that’s subsided. Going in a week and want to get a handle on what to prepare for.

I went by the Poly on Saturday to get a Dole Whip before going to see/hear a friend do some piano sets at the Grand. I was walking out of the GCH at 2pm and the line for Trader Sam's was already back to the lobby.

If one has to get in line well before the walk-up list opens to have a shot at getting in, they really will need to either make it reservable, or limit access to Poly resort guests, at some point, right?

Thank you! I’ll skip the madness and get the experience from Tiki Terrace instead!

IDK. Gideon's appeared to be much the same at Springs. Line way curved around the walkway before they even opened.

If someone wants to wait 1+ hours to sign up for the virtual queue, then hang around to be called, then more power to them. You can only kill so much time at Boutiki. The actual wait time after opening seems to be averaging 2 hours, which isn't really that bad (I've been stuck waiting 45-60 minutes with an ADR at 'Ohanas before), especially for a Poly guest who can put their name in the virtual queue on their way to other activities. Otherwise, there is the Tiki Terrance if someone just wants a drink.

Trader Sam’s update: we showed up to put our name in at 1:45 today (Monday). The person taking names said we would be in the first wave, but standing room. We put our name in and we were told to come back by 3 (opening). We were called in at that point, and we were able to sit down (only two of us, and there was a two seat place under the goddess).

Also I got the Nautilus and it was delicious. :)

Just curious - how long were you in line before they started to take names?

We just walked up to the lady taking names outside Trader Sam’s. There was one person in front of us. Again, this was 1:45 pm. I’m not sure what was going on before or after that point- we decided to walk around a bit and returned at 10 minutes to 3.

How full has the Lava Pool been in the afternoons? Is it hard to get a chair/lounger?

I was in/out of the Lava Pool at various times every day last week - to me it felt pretty normal. You get peak day crowds where most chairs/lounges are full, but seems you can always find at least something. Shade is always at a premium at times.

I always wish Disney was better about removing used towels from chairs where guests leave but leave them sitting around, but just one of those things that happens at every hotel I guess. I actually liked it when they were doing COVID monitoring/cleaning since at least it kept chairs in regular rotation once available. Wouldn't be a problem if everyone would just clean up after themselves. :-)

Did you see the pix of the cl lounge on Tikiman’s FB page? Interesting the kids section is on the 2nd floor. That’s nice arrival and checkout day but kiddos want their cartoons in the morning. Now you leave your kid alone upstairs while you grab their breakfast? Hmm .....

Loved the loook, reminds me of CSR cl with the lounge seating on the left side.

With the exception of them leaving that stone floor in the food area, it looks absolutely amazing, in my opinion. Better than anything I could have imagined. Covid could have easily given them a reason to cheap out on the lounge and not do much to it, but they certainly didn't take that direction!
