I have a room (building) request question. We are going early Sept and hope to have connecting rooms. It will be dh & I, our 4 kids and my aunt and uncle. So, 8 people total. We really want each room to have two queens. BUT we were also hoping for a room in Fiji. After looking on Tikiman's page, it looks like Fiji does not have any queen/queen connecting rooms. Does anyone know if that is accurate? Every connecting room seems to be a king/queen set-up. If we cannot get queen/queen connecting rooms, I need some recs on which building to choose. Thanks!

There are no kings that face the marina, so you would need to request that side.

We have been here now for 2 days-CL LV. We got a first floor which has worked out great. The kids can run around the grass and down to the beach. We had a great view of the fireworks too. The lounge has had good offerings and the employees are mostly very nice. They do seem to be a bit short-handed and running out of things. I also think they can do a better job cleaning (the lounge and some of the public places in general). The setting here is just beautiful. They did a good job last night of keeping people on one section of the beach and keeping people off the grass in front of rooms. I was pleased with that after some of the stories reported. They have also been diligent at checking pool entry using iPads to see if you are a guest and the giving bracelets out. The park was surprisingly uncrowned on Saturday and about what I expected yesterday. It was super-hot and steam-room humid yesterday even well into the night.

Maybe we are neighbors! Yes, they did an outstanding job last night keeping people off the Hawaii grass. Hoping for the same tonight.

Here is the area roped off on the beach for CL guests

And here are the CMs already patrolling

CM just came in CL lounge now to scan magicbands finally. Not sure why they didn't do it sooner, but at least they're here now. For a while the food line was on the 3rd floor! Anyway, yes security and CMs have done an awesome job this year. Food tonight included chili for the hotdogs.

So were people in the lounge that were not actually staying CL? Do they just walk in with other people who use their band for entry? I always thought CM's sat in the entry to watch for that.

There was a CM standing outside Hawaii scanning bands if everyone wasn't scanning to get in the building. It's kind of like the pool -- one person scans to open the gate and 15 walk in. But the CMs are very much on top of things this holiday. We have to hope all the people in the lounge were CL, but it sure was a steady stream until 6:20. The food was good -- very much worthy of a dinner. Though I'm not a fan of boiled hotdogs, they had chili and redhot to make it actually pretty good! Mac & cheese, salad, chicken wings too.

I agree with you on the boiled hot dogs, blah. I've never heard of putting red hot on a hotdog before, interesting. Glad the CM's are keeping everything civil for the holiday. We leave for Poly CL in 32 days!!

Yeah that food line at the CL was NUTS - I've never seen anything like that and got there around 5:20.
Here now staying on the 3rd floor.
Yesterday (4th) was a "pool day" for us and we showed up around 11 at the main pool. Got checked and banded right away but finding any lounge seats was impossible. The pool wasn't that crowded but every seat had a towel on it. Managed to grab some after about 10 minutes from a family that was leaving. Tried checking out the oasis pool about 2 hours later but had the same issue - no seating available although there was a LOT more open space there where they could've put lounges. (And they need more covered spaces)

Hi everyone.
I used the DIS a LOT in 2010 / 11 when I got married at WDW (10/10/10!) and then went back for Christmas 2011
Both times we stayed at the WL
BUT
We just booked for Christmas 2017 at the Poly! We ate there and travelled through there a bunch of times and thought we would give it a go.
Thanks for the pics and info following the refurb. It is really exciting to see!

You will love the Poly! Enjoy the planning :wizard:.

We just left a 3rd floor Fiji room, and it was terrific! Enjoy your stay!

Hope you had a great trip :).

We are here now! Our room isn't ready so we are heading to AK to ride dinosaur (our kids' choice!). The app has been down all morning so it set a kink in our day. we now have some very strange FP's for today..going to AK now for dinosaur and then to MK tonight for big thunder. I'll be back to post when we get our room!

Hope you're having a great time! :goodvibes

Got our room request! 1st floor (LV CL) near lounge.

Glad you got your request. Love the pics :).

Ah lucky! I requested 3rd but we got 1st. We had to wait since it wasn't ready. Concierge offered to check but they only had 2nd they could move us to. Oh well still having a great time so far! :)

I'm sorry your request wasn't met, but glad you're still having a great time :goodvibes.

Quick check in from the Poly!

Just wanted to confirm that the beach was definitely open to watch the EWP and Wishes last night. We did not encounter any CMs checking bands, but we also entered from the pool. No one really hung around after, but CMs were there ushering us off as soon as the fireworks ended.

Hot tub was working yesterday, and pool was surprisingly empty. But it was also pretty dreary and drizzly - I'm sure things will change today!

Was someone asking about water? Cases are available in the upstairs gift shop for $6.99. And the little tiki statute is back in stock downstairs (he was sold out when we were here in December).

Here till Tuesday, so if there's anything anyone would like me to check on, just let me know!

Thanks for checking in. Glad you're enjoying the Poly :wizard:.

74 days - Can't wait!

It'll be here before you know it! :yay:

I am extremely impressed with the security and job the resort is doing to keep everything organized. We had another beautiful day today.

Glad you're having a great time :).

I'm sorry about not being able to find lounge chairs, but hope you're still having a great trip and enjoying the Poly :flower3:.

Yes Fiji has a lot of queen/ queen connecting rooms. I just noticed my map for Fiji is wrong. You can see I have some king beds shown in rooms that they should not be in. The king rooms have the circle K next to the number so rooms without that should not show a King bed in it. Thanks for noticing the mistake. I need to fix that.

Last year they had a CM at the door to Hawaii and they made each person scan their bands instead of just having someone scan the bands to open the door because they say people just walk in behind other guests that would open the door.

Thank you! We really are hoping to be on the beach side and I was worried we had no chance of that.

Beach side connecting rooms with both having double queens you will have to do second floor and there are no balconies on the second floor. On the Marina side you can get that on any floor.

Oh no, we don't want a second floor! Hmm, we wanted a ground floor so we could let our boys play some in the grassy area right outside. We have stayed third floor in Fiji before and loved that view. I guess we need to start looking for a different building.

I see we can get queen/queen connecting rooms on the ground floor of Samoa but it is facing the main pool. How is the noise level? If you had the sliding door closed, can you still hear the pool noise? We are traveling with my aunt and uncle and my uncle will probably nap in the afternoon while we hit the pool.

ETA: I am also liking the looks of a ground floor room in Niue. And since there are no king rooms there, we should have a good chance of getting our request, right?

@Tikiman , thank you for your site. It has been so helpful to my dh & I!

I'd be interested in thoughts as I try to decide what room requests to make. Our main priorities are (1) easiest access to all transportation, (2) not too loud if kids take afternoon nap around 2-4, (3) best view given above two priorities. We are booked in a standard room. From what I've read, our best options for convenience are Raratonga and Samoa, with Raratomga having slightly better convenience and Samoa having better pool views. We typically like ground floor but I think 3rd floor might be quieter? What's the difference in walking time from Samoa to resort monorail or TTC vs Raratonga to transportation? If not much more, then I think I'd prefer Samoa's views. Will we hear lots of pool noise if we get a third floor room? Finally, the TP hotel room view finder shows construction outside a couple of the Raratonga rooms, but I'm pretty sure construction at the Poly is complete. Is that right? Thanks for any input!

My husband and I just got back from our first stay at the Polynesian, and thanks to you all it was wonderful! We have always wanted to stay there and we finally made it work! We requested Samoa 3rd floor Lava Pool side as our first choice and luckily that's what we got! The location was perfect and honestly we were shocked at the luck we received with our room choice. We did not go to the parks when we were staying there because we truly wanted to enjoy the amenities and the resort. We also visited the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Wilderness Lodge. On all of our trips we have always had a 'Magic Kingdom resort' day so being right there at the Polynesian made it so easy and convenient especially since we weren't going to the parks. Thank you for the tips and if I can ever figure out how to upload a picture I will post a picture of our view!
