I'll write a report when I get home, but Poly was almost perfect in every way. July 3 and 4 were perfect -- not a single person was allowed on the Hawaii grass during the show, so our view was unobstructed and exactly what we paid for.

Until next time....saying goodbye to this beautiful view and beautiful resort :cloud9:

Glad you had a great time! Thanks for checking in during your trip and sharing all of your beautiful pics. Looking forward to your report :).

In the DVC Studios they do have paper plates, paper bowls, actual glassware and ceramic mugs. I think they have plastic forks/and utensils as well. In the bungalows, they would have a full kitchen with plates/glasses, pots pans, dishwasher, etc. In the regular rooms I am pretty sure you don't have anything but glassware, I don't think they have plates/bowls there.

They have plastic wear too.

We enjoyed our stay in the DVC Studios so much in March, that when we were on our Dream cruise may month, we bought 60 points at Poly. It didn't sind like much, but it will get us three nights during the times of the year that we go. Matter of fact, we booked it prior to our cruise next May. Can't wait!

Currently staying in DVC studio and can confirm paper plates & bowls and plastic utensils. You can also get plastic utensils from Capt. Cooks if needed.

Anybody else have trouble with the bus service from Hollywood studios to poly? I as at HS twice at closing and both times every other bus stop was cleared out with several buses - including the contemporary but very few buses came for the poly and GF. Worse, with fort wilderness sharing the same stop we had to wait for them to load their buses before any spare buses could come into our stop.

I am very excited to be spending an overdue honeymoon / 8th anniversary at Poly this upcoming November ( 11- 18th ). We had originally had reservations at POFQ but after spending some time at Poly on my solo trip in April, I instantly fell in love with the resort. I sent my husband a few photos and he called me no more than 5 mins later telling me to upgrade to the poly once I got home!!! A Win for me!!! lol... I called and they were out of the rooms I was looking at and they said because of travel to and from disney they would upgrade me at no additional cost to the standard room I wanted. So they booked me for a CL LV and I had asked if they had a King bed ( after all it is a honeymoon / anniversary trip :D ) they said they would put in a request for that. but From what I gather Hawaii house is only Doubles and Tonga (sp) has the king beds... All I know is, I am 129 days out but who's counting. :-):-):-):-)

Congrats on your Poly points purchase. Three nights at the Poly is better than no nights :goodvibes.

I think you were under me - I was in 3506! (Can't upload pics yet - too big - and on the tragical express goin' home!)

Hope you had a nice trip :).

Congrats on the upgrade to the Poly! Hope you have a great honeymoon/anniversary trip. Enjoy the planning :wizard:.

If anyone will be staying at the Poly on July 22nd, Friday, come on over to the beach near the luau and towards Grand Floridian. There will be an informal get-together of fellow DIS'ers meeting up for the 10th Anniversary event. Grab a Dole Whip, ice cream, shaved ice or a drink and meet over on the beach at 8:30. We will be watching the MK fireworks at 9 pm. It will be fun and nice to chat with fellow lovers-of-all-things-Disney. I'll be there, too. Here's the official thread link:

We were there in March and you needed the resort ID that you get at check-in.
I guess they have changed it... They never checked our IDs when we rode but its been a while, we are military and stay there most of the time...

I agree because we've also stayed in the past and never been asked for it but they have been lately. Possibly tied to Disney upping security. I would just hate for someone to walk all the way to the SOG bus at DS and be turned away.

I have a question regarding the pricing for Poly. Every time I check, it's always in the upper echelon of hotels in terms of per night rooms, but to me it just doesn't have that zing you would expect at the top shelf level in Disney hotels. I mean it's nice don't get me wrong, but seems very over priced compared to all the other Disney resorts. Am I missing something here?

It is one of the most expensive resorts at WDW. I understand what you are saying. I didn't "get" it until we stayed there; until then we would visit for Ohana, but thought it just seemed "ok." When we actually stayed at the Poly, we really appreciated the incredible views, lush gardens, beach and pools, and the general laid back atmosphere. I don't think it's for everybody, but we have really enjoyed our stays at the Poly. :cloud9:

Hope this helps.

It is also fairly easy to come by discounts for the Poly via either Disney or third-party bookings. While I am sure many people pay rack, many others do not.

I think it depends what you're looking for out of your stay. We have our first stay coming up in a little over a month, and we couldn't be more excited. That said, we are moving from Poly to YC after 3 nights, and for the bulk of our trip, which is one of our happy places. I personally like to feel vacation-y and luxurious on my vacations to Disney, and I get that from all 3 Epcot Resorts (YC, BC, BWI- S/D also!), and I get it from the GF. I didn't get it from CR, or either of the Lodges. I'm not sure where Poly will fall in my estimation of "luxury" and "vacation-y", but I can't wait to see!
