Oh no, we don't want a second floor! Hmm, we wanted a ground floor so we could let our boys play some in the grassy area right outside. We have stayed third floor in Fiji before and loved that view. I guess we need to start looking for a different building.

I would suggest ground floor Samoa or Niue.

I see we can get queen/queen connecting rooms on the ground floor of Samoa but it is facing the main pool. How is the noise level? If you had the sliding door closed, can you still hear the pool noise? We are traveling with my aunt and uncle and my uncle will probably nap in the afternoon while we hit the pool.

ETA: I am also liking the looks of a ground floor room in Niue. And since there are no king rooms there, we should have a good chance of getting our request, right?

@Tikiman , thank you for your site. It has been so helpful to my dh & I!

We were in Samoa, Lava pool side last summer. Yes, you can hear the pool. It's not loud like they are in the same room with you, but you can hear the pool noise. If you need quiet, Samoa probably isn't the building for you.

Does anyone know if the night time movies/campfire happen on the same nights/times every week? We are going in September and want to be sure to be around for campfire and movies...wasn't sure if they alternated days/times? Also trying to figure out lunch/dinners for the nights we want to be at the resort! Thanks!

Hi guys! If I were to request a room in Fiji marina view, would that let me see the boats that take us to and from Magic Kingdom? That might be a fun view. Deciding between that and the most popular Samoa volcano pool view.

I have lots of time, just paid on the trip (halfway paid!) and that started the day dreaming... :rotfl:

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that Samoa may not be best. Not only will my uncle nap but my 5yo, who is just now outgrowing naps, will most likely need to nap also while we are there. Squealing kiddos at the pool would not help with getting him down. I think we will request Niue. Seems like a good place for us!

We fly in tomorrow! Very much looking forward to it. Hoping we get our requested Tuvalu 3rd floor, but will be fine I'm sure with anything. We booked TPV. I'm hoping for 3rd floor so we can watch fireworks from the balcony while kids are asleep.

Wish me luck, I'm flying by myself with my 5yo and 15mo!

No one knows for sure. All you can do is keep checking themouseforless site for the activity list each month. This month, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are the movie nights at the Polynesian.
Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at the Grand Floridian. You could go over there and enjoy their movie night if it suited your plans.

Niue is sandwiched b/w The 2 resort pools. It's not as close as Samoa but if you're looking for real quiet, it may not be the best.
Having said that, I've read reports that Samoa was not loud inside the room and it is right on the Lava Pool.
My Niue room years ago was quiet.

Aotearoa would be very quiet, I'd think. Except during the Luau.
Our Fiji room was very quiet but we were on the Marina side. Other side would also get evening noise from Luau.
My rooms in Rarotonga were nice and quiet IIRC.
All of these were standard view rooms.

Just hope you don't get the worst scenario - loud neighbors :badpc:

Good luck :)

Weird question. Is there bowls/silverware in the rooms? Ordering food from Garden Grocer for breakfast and would like to order cereal.

regular rooms, definitely not.
DVC, I don't know.

I pack paper bowls and plastic spoons (among other supplies) with us.

I'd be interested in thoughts as I try to decide what room requests to make. Our main priorities are (1) easiest access to all transportation, (2) not too loud if kids take afternoon nap around 2-4, (3) best view given above two priorities. We are booked in a standard room. From what I've read, our best options for convenience are Raratonga and Samoa, with Raratomga having slightly better convenience and Samoa having better pool views. We typically like ground floor but I think 3rd floor might be quieter? What's the difference in walking time from Samoa to resort monorail or TTC vs Raratonga to transportation? If not much more, then I think I'd prefer Samoa's views. Will we hear lots of pool noise if we get a third floor room? Finally, the TP hotel room view finder shows construction outside a couple of the Raratonga rooms, but I'm pretty sure construction at the Poly is complete. Is that right? Thanks for any input!

I'm not sure about Rarotonga, but we found Samoa very convenient as it's just steps from the GCH, both pools, Captain Cooks, and the beach :). The main pool does get busy/loud, but you might be ok with a third floor room (although it's not guaranteed you will get that). With that said, we had a ground floor room facing the quiet pool, so I can't comment from experience on the noise level from a room facing the main pool.

My husband and I just got back from our first stay at the Polynesian, and thanks to you all it was wonderful! We have always wanted to stay there and we finally made it work! We requested Samoa 3rd floor Lava Pool side as our first choice and luckily that's what we got! The location was perfect and honestly we were shocked at the luck we received with our room choice. We did not go to the parks when we were staying there because we truly wanted to enjoy the amenities and the resort. We also visited the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Wilderness Lodge. On all of our trips we have always had a 'Magic Kingdom resort' day so being right there at the Polynesian made it so easy and convenient especially since we weren't going to the parks. Thank you for the tips and if I can ever figure out how to upload a picture I will post a picture of our view!

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the Poly. The Poly is amazing and is a great resort (IMO) for a resort only trip :goodvibes.

Here is a panoramic of our view from the 3rd floor in Samoa...take me back!

Watching the boat come in on a very sunny summer Florida day.

Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing :flower3:.

I can't answer your question, but that would be a nice view :).

Congrats on having your trip half paid for :wizard:.

We just returned from our third stay in Samoa, all three times being on the quiet pool side. The quiet pool side is quiet; we never heard anything with our slider closed. I'd consider the quiet pool side of Samoa. That being said, I think every other room on the third floor facing the quiet pool is a king room so the first floor may be your only option.

The non-DVC rooms do not have any kind of plates/bowls/utensils.

I have not stayed DVC at the Poly but my experience in other Disney DVC's is that the studio will have some paper plates and plastic utensils but not very many. I'd absolutely bring my own if I was hoping to have new ones every day. The bigger units will have full kitchens that are fully stocked with plates/bowls/utensils/cookware, etc

We stayed in Fiji, luau side, 3rd floor. It was very quiet during the afternoon. No problems for naps. We heard the drums from the luau a couple nights but everyone was so tired at night, it really wasn't an issue. Also, if you are not making multiple trips to Epcot, it's very convenient to transportation. It's a really short distance to GCH. I was surprised at how compact the resort is. Now, it is a hike to the TTC. If you plan to be going there frequently I'd pick a building on the other side of GCH. But we have young kiddos and were a little worried about distance to transportation and noise but I'm really glad we went with Fiji. Great view too - very relaxing and GF is beautiful.

you should be able to see the launch from the Marina side. There might be a few rooms that can't but I think most should.

Weird question. Is there bowls/silverware in the rooms? Ordering food from Garden Grocer for breakfast and would like to order cereal.

In the DVC Studios they do have paper plates, paper bowls, actual glassware and ceramic mugs. I think they have plastic forks/and utensils as well. In the bungalows, they would have a full kitchen with plates/glasses, pots pans, dishwasher, etc. In the regular rooms I am pretty sure you don't have anything but glassware, I don't think they have plates/bowls there.

I'll write a report when I get home, but Poly was almost perfect in every way. July 3 and 4 were perfect -- not a single person was allowed on the Hawaii grass during the show, so our view was unobstructed and exactly what we paid for.

Until next time....saying goodbye to this beautiful view and beautiful resort :cloud9:
