Has anyone on here mentioned the Twilight meal that is room service? I know I read it somewhere, but I forget where and I was discussing it with the hubby..does anyone have any info on it?
It is the ohana food in a more controlled quantity. For many people you can order fewer units than people.

Staying at the Poly in June, and wondering if the monorail operates early enough to get to a pre-park opening breakfast at the Magic Kingdom. Any experiences you can share? I don't want to pay for a taxi. Thank you!

We were there in February and had to be at the park early for Keys to the kingdom. The monorail was not running yet, but there was a MK bus that arrived within 5 minutes and quickly took us to the park. It was really easy and convenient. We caught it at the Poly bus stop.

Getting closer!!!

Just a few questions.
Anyone have any tips/suggestions for covering window on bathroom door?
Are kids allowed in Trader Sams? Or can you get a drink to go?
What are the not to miss events/times at the hotel? Hula dancing, bonfire...
Thanks!

Ok awesome. What are all the locations (at the Poly) that they can be refilled at?

Capt. Cooks and the Oasis pool. If there are any other locations, someone else will chime in. That's something I haven't researched since I don't use the mugs. :thumbsup2

We won't be on the DDP, but between the fact that I usually only drink coffee when I'm awake, and we'll have a full resort day, I think they will pay for themselves. Plus I still use a few from previous trips as travel mugs (for coffee!)

Some will recognize me from my swan/pofq question. I now have a new question. How are the rooms at poly with a standard view? It says you can face the parking lot or monorail. Should that deter me from staying there? A room just came avail for the time of our trip and trying to decide if worth extra money. Thanks!!

I agree with GoMegGo that even the parking lot views aren't really of the parking lot as there is a lot of landscaping/vegetation. With that said, even if those views aren't your first choice, I definitely wouldn't let them deter you from trying the Poly. The Poly is an amazing resort and while some views might be a little nicer than others, I don't think there are any bad views ;).

Even the rooms that face the parking lot don't really have a view of the parking lot. There's a lot of landscaping and vegetation around the resort and the parking lot isn't super close to any of the long houses.

I agree :).

1 more sleep!!!:dogdance:

Have a great trip! :jumping1:

I can't answer your questions, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip! Hopefully others will be able to help :flower3:.

We're here now! Come join the Poly fun! !:)

Hope you're having a great time :wizard:.

I would have to disagree with that. That can be said about the rooms in Rarotonga that face the parking lot because there is a lot of garden area and the monorail between those rooms and the parking lot but the rooms in Pago Pago that face the parking lot are a few feet away from parking spaces. Especially since the new parking lot over on the east side they moved the spots even closer to the rooms to get more spaces. Some of the rooms have maybe 20 feet of grass before you are at a parking space.

That said, though, Pago Pago are DVC Studios now, and so if the person asking was concerned about parking lots is booking a Standard Room, not an issue.

The Pago Pago views are one of the arguments I see for a likely DVC points reallocation at Poly.

for my trip at the end of june/start of july, i just switched over from a standard view room to a deluxe studio standard view and saved some money in the process. i understand that the deluxe studios are the DVC studios and that they have one bed and one sleeper sofa instead of two beds. what i liked about the DVC room is the two showers and the option of saving a little bit of money. my kids will have to sleep on the sofa bed rather than a regular bed but i'm thinking that shouldn't be a big deal. am i missing anything? do you guys have any preferences one way or the other?

Just booked lagoon view club level for 4th of July week. I am confused about the theme park vs lagoon view? Aren't all these facing 7 seas lagoon in Hawaii building? Wouldn't they all be theme park view if they are lagoon view? And how bad would a ground floor be during the chaos of July 3-4th? Will they allow people on that lawn in front of my room? I don't want to deal with people standing shoulder to shoulder in front of my patio!

We have lots of experience staying at Poly CL during July 4 week (and love it!). LV rooms are classified such because there is some sort of obstruction from seeing the Castle clearly. TPV rooms have a clear view of the Castle. To us, it doesn't matter about seeing the Castle 100% -- we are happy with LV, mainly because we LOVE staying on the first floor and I believe all/most rooms on the first floor are now LV because of the bungalow construction. I'm not sure if it's this thread or the CL thread, but I posted a bunch of pictures during and after our trip last 4th of July.

Pre-bungalow construction, there were indeed those people who thought it was ok to stand on the grass in front of our room. I took pictures a couple years ago of our view before the show started (the backs of people standing!). However, the CM's were on top of it, particularly a CL manager, and he asked the people to either sit or move out of the way.

Post-bungalow construction (aka last 4th of July 2015), the bungalows now make the grass not as attractive of an area to view the show, so people gravitated elsewhere. Also, the Poly ropes off an area on the beach for CL guests only, so it does sort of limit where people can go. You will need to bring your patio chairs inside your room on July 3 and 4 because people actually steal them! However, through all this, I can honestly say that July 4 at the Poly is one of our best memories and trips ever! We'll be there again this year in CL LV room.

Hmmm. I don't think there is any way I am putting my patio chairs inside my room. If anyone steals them, we'll be calling for new ones promptly. That's ridiculous.

I'm not thrilled now about most of the LV club level rooms being ground floor. So, are you saying none of the 3rd floor rooms with Full balcony are lagoon view? Those are all theme park view?

I may need to rethink this if this is the case.

Tikiman's site has an accurate layout of which rooms are which view. We just personally prefer the 1st floor patio cause my kids love running out onto the beach. From memory, I think there are just a couple of LV rooms on the 3rd floor, but Tikiman has a definite map.

Now that I look at his map, I see he has some TPV rooms still on the 1st floor. I'm not sure if that's the latest update or not(?). Our usual room of late is 1503 - for whatever reason we've been given that exact room 3 trips in a row there! When we stayed 3rd floor TPV we had 3517 I believe.

Edited to correct my room number.

We'll be at the Poly from 7/23 through 7/30. My 15 year old son would love to meet other kids his age. Anybody else staying there this week with teens?

We will be there 7/20 to 7/27. We have a bunch of teenagers. 18,17,16,16 and 15. Not all are mine. It's a cousins trip. I'm sure he'll run into them at the pool.

Actually never stayed standard until our upcoming August trip but loved the studio last year! The two washrooms rock!! The one amenity I'll really miss. Getting ready was a breeze!
