60 days! Did FPs at midnight and check-in this morning!!! We are so ready and hopefully time will fly with all of the crazy, busy things going on. We are DVC and opted to go for a standard view this year since the ferry boat horns kept waking me up. Requested Tokelau and away from beach this time to play it safe. The CM I spoke to suggested I call one week before arrival and speak to the front desk to let them know my sleeping challenges. Anyone have that number?

Some family members will be staying at a DVC studio on a cash reservation. Will they be able to use the laundry rooms in the DVC buildings? Thanks!

Hi, everyone. Quick review.

Just got back from the Poly last night. Had a nice time, but had issues with a filthy room that we were assigned! I promptly went down to the main desk and we (finally) got it resolved. We ended up in Aotearoa 1229. Had a partial view of fireworks. the room was clean.
I actually prefer the older decor of brown tahitian stylings, etc. The green was okay.

The resort was busy, especially with a lot of younger children. A lot of screaming (and I mean screaming) young children. Same in the parks. It is just too much for the younger kids. The magic is lost on them at that age.

We swam in the Oasis pool and not the Volcano (way too crowded). One day we got a cabana, and I'm sure one day soon you will have to rent these by the day and half day. The cabana was nice, but I don't like the design or color (way too orange). I'm surprised they were not designed like a tiki hut. They are also too big for the area. The proportions are off. The pool bathrooms were very clean. I had a Mango Slushee one day, and a (alcohol) Black Cherry Lemonade, which was good. We only ate at Capt Cooks. Had a Dole whip, it was good. Also, the food from the Oasis Grill looked good.

The price of bottled water has gone up to $3.00/bottle.

I won't go into all of the trip report here. I like the Polynesian, but have noticed a bit of decline in the cleanliness of the resort (it took 2 days for a spilled salad to be cleaned from the major walkway area...just simply inexcusable). Cast Members would walk by and not even say hello, Mousekeeping would not get to our room until close to 4 pm every day, which was also inexcusable. I was still happy to be there, but the GM needs to know these things, and I will pen a letter to him or her very soon. I will also note the good, and not just the bad.

The weather was beautiful and all-in-all, we had a great trip.

I'm thinking that if they have a magicband that works on a DVC room, that it should also work on the laundry room. This will be a good test though, report back if you can. There is just the one laundry room on the first floor of Moorea that is DVC and no charge to use if you get in there.

Thanks for the reply. I will relay this info to them and we'll see what happens. :)

Thanks for reporting back! I do hope the Poly institutes rentable cabanas soon. It is something we love to do, and more than willing to pay for. Just an opinion here, but I wish the Poly would also let us book the floor. Everyone on here wants 3rd or 1st, no one wants the second. But 1/3 of people will get it, which will start off their trip on an unmagical note. I've stayed on the 2nd floor already, and it was fine, but I did have a sense of disappointment that first day. By charging more for the 1st and 3rd, it would allow people to book and pay for what they want.

Did anyone see on Tikiman's Facebook page that they are installing astro turf at the Poly between the GCH and the Lava pool? Astro turf?!?! You've got to be kidding me! That area used to be gorgeous behind the GCH with the stream bubbling out of the volcanic formation running down to the pool. Now it will look like a mini golf putting green. Fantastic. The management at the Poly really has me scratching my head these days. For every nice addition they make to that resort they seem determined to counter it with a poor decision IMO.

I just returned from a week at Poly.

I was told it was actual sod, which would not be good. The workmen tore up and removed the grass, which was dead, because all of the foot traffic on that area. Turf would be much more logical.

Now, having said that, I'm not so sure what is the point of the circle of grass anyway. Can someone enlighten me?

Rumor about the free dining is circulating. Does Poly CL usually get in on the deal?

It's hard to tell which resorts will be included, but I have seen Poly CL offered under FD in the past :).

for my trip at the end of june/start of july, i just switched over from a standard view room to a deluxe studio standard view and saved some money in the process. i understand that the deluxe studios are the DVC studios and that they have one bed and one sleeper sofa instead of two beds. what i liked about the DVC room is the two showers and the option of saving a little bit of money. my kids will have to sleep on the sofa bed rather than a regular bed but i'm thinking that shouldn't be a big deal. am i missing anything? do you guys have any preferences one way or the other?

We prefer a regular room as our boys won't sleep on a pull out sofa, but if your kids are fine with that, I think a studio is a great choice (especially since you are saving money over a regular room) :thumbsup2.

We'll be at the Poly from 7/23 through 7/30. My 15 year old son would love to meet other kids his age. Anybody else staying there this week with teens?

We aren't going during that time, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

We will be there 7/20 to 7/27. We have a bunch of teenagers. 18,17,16,16 and 15. Not all are mine. It's a cousins trip. I'm sure he'll run into them at the pool.

Have a great trip :goodvibes.

You will be checking into the Poly before you know it ::yes::.

AFAIK, you cannot call the front desk directly. When you call the number associated with a resort, they answer as if they are at that particular resort, but the calls are forwarded to a call center.

Exactly what happened to me today, called to make sure they were going to look after a package for me, and when I asked to confirm that I was speaking to the front desk they paused, then said yes

The grass area is called the Gathering Place. In the original concept art for the area there was going to be a fire pit right as you leave the back of the GCH to the right and the grass area was going to be for live entertainment, hula lessons and the night time movies would be set up on the grass. A few weeks ago before they ripped out the dead grass they had set up the movies on that area a few times. It was always intended to be a high traffic area with all the activities they planned on using it for so they had to do something that would hold up to that. You can see the concept on my pool page and it shows the movie screen set up and the fire pit that did not ever happen.

Now that I look at his map, I see he has some TPV rooms still on the 1st floor. I'm not sure if that's the latest update or not(?). Our usual room of late is 1503 - for whatever reason we've been given that exact room 3 trips in a row there! When we stayed 3rd floor TPV we had 5517 I believe.

That is the most current categories. They had a few ground floor rooms as garden club level on the lagoon side back when they were working on the bungalows but they changed that after the bungalows opened. The map information came right from the Polynesian's own room assignment system.

Im guessing your room on the 3rd floor was 3517.

You can't actually call the resort front desk. The phones up there do not even take outside calls. Even when you call the front desk from your room you are calling an offsite call center.

I know, but the email I received via the website asked me to 'call them directly'. It's all a bit cheeky really!!

Ok thanks! I knew you'd have the most accurate info :). And, yes, I mistyped my 3rd floor room number - thanks for correction! I was thinking after the bungalows were done that they would make all the 1st floor rooms LV. The Castle/TPV views are now totally different on the 1st floor versus the 3rd floor. We still love the 1st floor, though, and request it every trip!

I used it last year with a cash studio reservation. ::yes::

Is the Ku'ulei punch served at the Polyensian CL all the time? I just discovered this last summer on a Sunday afternoon, our last day there - but when I was there around Christmas during the middle of the week I didn't see it. Is it only served on the weekends or only during the evening?

I'm trying to setup another trip and it'd be easier if I could dodge the weekend but I wanna try this stuff again. ;)
