Hope we get our requests too if Fiji 3rd floor. What side were you on? Marina or garden?

Yikes, that's way too close. I prefer 3rd floor balcony!
Marina side room 3321. Very nice room close to elevator with great views of marina/pool, but it did have a very big palm tree blocking the view of the Contemporary( I know how did I survive the injustice.:lmao:lol).

I wonder how long it will take to finish up the work on the quiet pool area? I really would like a balcony, but would like a decent view to go with it. Wouldn't want to be looking at construction or looking out of the rooms on the standard side of Tuvalu.

Construction update. I moved my reservation from poly to gf because of construction. We ran through both resorts this week. I didn't see the big deal about construction and while these thoughts were floating in my head, my husband says thank goodness you moved us. I know that's no help but I wanted to share that it must be in the eye of the beholder.

I think this is a great observation.

I know not every person / family is the same, but...... during our last Poly stay, we had a balcony. It was a 12 day trip. I think, total in 12 days, we spent 20 minutes on the balcony. There are just so many more enjoyable outdoor spaces at the Poly than to sit on your balcony. On the other hand.....Im sure if my mom can with us, the balcony would have gotten much more use as she doesnt go to the parks and enjoys sitting on the balcony, in the shade, reading books all day. Basically, Im saying if you get 2nd floor, dont be disappointed...youre not missing a whole lot.

Thanks for your reply. I hope we get Marina side, but wouldn't be crushed to get other side, as long as I get a balcony!

I've stayed at Poly 4 times, and the first 3 times I never got my request of a patio or balcony. I loved all of these stays and thought the rooms were fantastic (so definitely not awful!). However, this last trip we got a balcony (huzzah!!) and I have to say, it was pretty amazing. It felt like an extra room altogether. We ate our CC breakfast and watched the monorails go by. I am really going to try for a balcony again this next time!

It's a must for us! I love having my morning coffee on the balcony, having a glass of wine in the evening, reading, etc.

:) so happy!!! Last week I cancelled our bounce back reservation because as time is getting closer we know we wont be able to afford it :( So the CM recommended Animal kingdom>> but as soon as I got off the phone I knew it wasn't where we wanted to be. We spend a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom area. I quickly changed to Wilderness Lodge. It is no Poly but we have never stayed there before and its better then not going to Disney. This was saving us $2500 CND. Then a couple days ago I came across a standard view at the Poly with free dining and park/hoppers. Its $200 more but we are still saving $2200 CND from our original reservations. We are also going the last week of October instead of the middle. If my surgery date ends up being around that time I have a back up trip at Poly the week before Christmas. Last year was our first stay at the Poly and loved it!!! I can't wait to go back!!!

So excited, I just booked our trip today, we will be at the Poly September 3rd-13th! Usually we would have booked way further out but it's kinda a last minute trip, but I'm so happy to be going back to the Polynesian and I know September will be here before I know it!

30 days out and don't know what to do for room request! Love ground floor with patio and like to be close to GCH and TTC which normally puts us in Raratonga or Niue but don't want to be staring at construction instead of beautiful foliage as usual! Trying to figure out best option for us but i think it may be up in the air since construction is so unpredictable! Also, a little worried because we will be a late arrival, not getting to resort until about 6 p.m. which may limit our options if room assigned is not great. Oh....poly problems! LOL!

No, they arent bad at all. When my kids were toddlers, I actually preferred 2nd fl. I didnt want them getting out to the balcony and I didnt want 1st FL. I have 3 kids, so with the 5 of us, we all take turns in the bathroom getting ready for dinner. While one is getting ready, mostly the others are just lying on the beds watching TV. Nothing to see ... but just a little uncomfortable with people seeing clearly into the room at night. 3rd fl, I can keep the drapes open and if anyone wants to take the effort to catch a glimpse of us lying around, they are more than welcome to do so!

Haha!

Hehehe!!! I don't know...are our DISers getting funnier or is it just me?

I did that last year...went to the GF and loved it! But this year is a go for us at the Poly! Woohoo!!!!!!

Staying for our first Poly stay starting August 12. This was a bit of a shock to us. We didn't plan on going until next year, but we got an amazing deal

I am so excited to be here in this thread. Our number one choice of resorts. We love the BC and WL, but always wanted to try the Poly

Trader Sam's here we come!

We're excited for our first Poly trip 7/28 too!!! Birthday girl has no idea!! So hard to contain our excitement!!

Soooo excited! I finally found a standard view room for early October, with free dining! However, I also finally found a room only, which I think is going to be the keeper. We usually do FD at Pop in November and use our package tickets to renew our APs. The math works well in that scenario, but not so much at the Poly, which we are dying to stay at.

We usually stay at Pop because of the price and how often we're actually in the room.. but we stayed at the CR in May for the 24 hour event (over the Poly simply due to convenience of walking over), and we kicked ourselves the entire time for not booking Poly. We've never stayed there, but we did spend 2/3 evenings there during our May trip. I figure the convenience of stumbling to our room from Trader Sam's is well worth any construction hassle!

Our low CAD is making our trip much more expensive too :( so cutting back on TS to half, will be there 2 weeks, so only doing TS the second week when my friend(s) arrive. I'm good with this because I like many CS, like Cooks, Gaspys, the waffle sandwiches at MK, and Hot Italian sub at Pinnochio Village Haus, Columbia Harbour House, etc.
Prob not much suvie shopping either.
Got spoiled having the CAD at par for awhile!

Does anyone have an activity calendar for the month of June? I'm looking specifically for the movies they show at night. TIA!
