That's interesting about the stone piece in the drain. When they opened these rooms those were steel pieces that went across the drain. So I guess they must have changed these out, and hopefully upgraded the drains. Those drains tend to drain slowly and overflow, so that's why you're probably seeing residue like that around the shower. It's a new design for the showers, so they're working the kinks out.

Did you get any photos of the drain with the steel across it? I would love to see that. I've only seen the stone drain as shown since day one of opening in all the showers I've seen or seen photos of.

The studios started opening April of last year. We have stayed twice and box our studios were beautifully clean when we arrived. Never did we see the ants or room service trays on the floor.

Our only issue was our neighbors smoking on the balcony but a call to the front desk took care of that.

I'm so glad to hear that you had no issue...well, minus the smokers.

Yes I do actually have a video of my stay last Sept. with the steel piece going across the drain and the water draining. I'm wondering how I would post that, let me try, it was taken with an iPhone.

Ok I was able to publish it to YouTube, and I think that allows me to share the link here. Let's see if this works.

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY]Checked in on Saturday and we are halfway through our stay in a deluxe studio rented through David's.

The great:
Location! We are in Pago Pago and can be at TTC in minutes.

Room layout: Our toddler is sleeping in the pack n play in the smaller bathroom area with no toilet. This allows us to watch TV and not have to sit in the dark for all her naps and early bedtimes. It's wonderful!

The not so great:
Our room is dirty. Built up grime in the bathrooms and food ground into the carpet.

Bugs: we are located across from a trash/recycling area and there has been the same trash sitting on the floor for over 36 hours and there are ants and other small bugs everywhere including into our room. I lived in Florida for years, I understand bugs are everywhere but this is lack of cleanliness.

Room service trays are also sitting in the hallways almost all day. A room 2 doors down has gotten breakfast each morning and the trays will still be sitting there when we return and 8pm. Ugh the ants!

If I was paying Cash Disney rate I'd feel ripped off. For us the location is worth the rented points price when traveling with a stroller and needing to return to the room for toddler naps.

EWW thats gross! The ants would be a deal breaker for me, did you get any response from management at the resort about this issue? We have not stayed at the Poly since 2012 but I remember that there were trays of food left in the hall all day as well. I was pretty surprised that they were left there all day.

We had breakfast this morning at Kona and I stopped by the registration desk to speak to a manager and was told there was not one readily available. I did express my concerns over the ants to the CM and when we got back to our room about an hour ago there was two employees vacuuming and cleaning right in front of our room and the trash was removed. Coincidence or not I'm just glad that after two days someone took out the trash!

I'm sorry you weren't able to speak to a manager, but glad the trash was taken care of and there were CMs vacuuming/cleaning by your room :).

Room's not ready yet. Have to pass the time somehow.

Hopefully it wasn't long before your room was ready, but it looks like you found a great way to pass the time :goodvibes.

OMG OMG OMG You guys were so right about this place. We're here now in Moorea the with the most gorgeous view. View attachment 154317

Awesome view! Hope you're having a great trip :wizard:.

Talking about rooms being ready, it's funny how timing works. We got to the resort around 12:30pm and the room wasn't ready. So we changed into sorts in the rest room and as we were changing, we got the text that our room was ready. They couldn't text us 5 minutes earlier? :P

Yes it did work. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if that was put in place as a "fix" since they had problems with the tile drain from the beginning.

Hi All! We're staying at the Poly April 30-May 7th...our first time onsite! I waffled back and forth about staying in the villa vs the regular room and having two beds won me over (three kids ages 10 months, 4, and 6.)

I am only 2 months out so I can check in online. What should I choose for room requests? Is there a thread with this info?

Thank you!

I think there's some info on the first few few pages of this thread. But the Tikimanpages.com has loads of helpful info about the long houses!!

Oh and see you at the Poly! We arrive on the 3rd May!!

Yes, I just assumed they were all like what I had, but if you say they're supposed to be stone, I guess I had an exception, lol.

You didn't mention whether you have a lake view or standard view which will make a difference. We have stayed twice since the DVC studios have been open. Once in a lake view which was in the Moorea building last April right after it opened and this past January in Tokelau with a standard view.

Thoughts re:Moorea- If the original path is open to the TTC, we found Moorea particularly convenient to the TTC...it is a very pleasant 5-10 min walk and just as close as walking to the monorail at the GCH. The view from our second floor room there was partially blocked by the bungalows and we did hear the ferries in the morning. We also noted the grounds maintenance crew which started with machines in the sand and blowers at 6:30 in the am and that practice has continued from what I have read from recent posters. So if you have a water view room and don't like the noise I would request a room on a high floor on the opposite end of the TTC. The views of the fireworks were lovely.

Thoughts re: Tokelau. While we were there we had a third floor view on the opposite side from the oasis pool location. At this point the walls were still up so our view on the opposite side was a lovely grounds and pathway view. We were close to the elevator on the third floor and we found that location worked for us. With the opening of the Oasis pool, I think this might be a great choice for us going forward.
Thanks for the suggestions. We are staying in Standard view. I read that Tokelau has a few good rooms if you can get on a top floor towards the North end of the building. Possibly making it a LV room. Fingers crossed we get one of those. Either way very excited for our first Poly stay!

I think Fiji, Samoa, Niue, and Rarotonga would be good Longhouse to consider. :)

Fiji is on the marina, Samoa closest to the main pool, Niue very close to Great Ceremonial House, and Rarotonga has monorail view rooms... You just have to decide which one works best for you!

I'm sure yours is not the only one. When they opened they were all tiled drains but maybe that is the fix for the ones that don't drain well.

That's true, the metal piece is very flexible, maybe it's easier to remove and keep clean.

Love this view !!! Whats the room number? Would love to get this room...

3029, right off the elevator and the ice machine. We walking distance to the TCT, which is so convenient, although when we went to MK today we opted for the resort launch.

For those who ask about the ferry horn, yes we hear it, but with the balcony door closed, it really doesn't bother us.

For the money you paid, I would call housekeeping to come and do a special clean. They won't take care of what no one complains about.

Wahoo! We are at 60 days!!! So excited to be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary here. I've been reading all posts and Tikimans page (btw Thank you Tikiman for all the awesome info) We have standard view; regular room. Is there any building with a chance of seeing Wishes? We want 3rd floor and not a monorail view. (if we can help it at all). Other than a chance of lucking out we would probably go with Samoa lava pool view request. Thank you.
