Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

Ooh, thank you for these lovely photos! Are they from Boca Chica? I hope you have a wonderful stay!

This was Big Pine Key room #9347, on the far end toward Boca Chica. It was wonderful! It was an outside corner room with two balconies. The regular balcony at the end if the room faced the MK, Contemporary, and the Poly (off to the far right). Between the bathroom area and the beds was an extra sitting area which was furnished with a table and chairs plus another sitting chair. From this area you could access the second side balcony, which faced across the water toward the Poly and the GF Villas. The balconies did not connect, but both were full sized with two chairs and a small table. We were in heaven! We just arrived home and are going through withdrawals, lol!

It sounds wonderful! I certainly understand the withdrawals! The syndrome occurs for us every single time!

My sister and I were at the Grand Floridian for two short nights, Friday and Saturday. We had gotten a free upgrade from Coronado Springs, which was wonderful! The weather was great and we enjoyed the quick trip. It was nice to be able to walk to/from MK. They were closing the bridge so that boats could go through while we were walking back to GF, but they let us go through first, which was nice. :)

We were in room 7424 in Conch Key. It had a dormer balcony, two queens and a daybed. I took a room view picture.

We are looking toward Wilderness Lodge with Boca Chica on the right and Narcoossee's on the left. It was close to the boat dock and we ran down just in time for the Electric Light parade. We had the bonus of seeing the full moon rise above the Contemporary during the show.

Hi everyone! Doing a split stay in March, 3 nights at BWV and 3 nights at GF. We have an outer building garden view room booked. Research says we can request a microwave for the room - anyone have experience doing that? During COVID times? We like to eat breakfast in the room and DH likes those biscuit sandwiches. TY!

We have always requested a microwave with a resort stay, but not since COVID (stayed DVC last trip). Not sure how they’re handling that now, but it doesn’t hurt to call Housekeeping once you’ve arrived and ask for one. Good luck, please keep us posted and let us know if you were successful! Enjoy your trip!

Wow! This is great news to me. In all my Disney reading and talking to all my virtual Disney friends, I never knew this was even possible. Is this just true for GF?

Good luck with your request! Let me know how it turns out. DD and I would love a microwave for leftovers.

Microwaves are available upon request at all Disney resorts. However, reports over time seem to indicate they are very limited - so YMMV.

I am also not sure what the current protocol is with microwaves and any covid restrictions/limitations, if applicable.

Thanks! Been a long-time lurker, I think this was my first post. We're WDW veterans (well, sort of, this will be my like 9th, 10th trip ever? I can't remember anymore, LOL). How crazy we have the exact same birthday!!

lol when didn’t recognize your screen name, I had to investigate! I’m like a self proclaimed troll hunter on the boards!! 😂 I usually won’t respond to people with one post, since they usually ask a question and then you never see them again!!! But then I saw your birthday and I had to answer!!!!! 😆

I’ve NEVER met someone with the same birth DAY as me... so it’s insane that you have both the same DAY AND YEAR!!! So nice to meet you!!! 😊

We are staying at the GF next weekend for Valentines Weekend. Originally our reservation here was in a standard outer building room, but today when I looked it said "Main Bldg - Deluxe King Room - Club Level." I know club services have not been open, but we are super excited to stay in the main building! (I didn't even know the main building was open.) We have only stayed at the GF once years ago in the sugar loaf area and thought it was fabulous! Just feeling very excited - and thought this would be the right place to share that excitement

So jealous! Lol my reservation has not been sprinkled with pixie dust but just the fact that we're staying at the Grand for the first time is exciting enough for me!

We have a garden view room - outer building booked. Any tips on if I should request a specific building? I tried investigating a bit on the boards but it seemed like they all had their pros/cons and didn't make a huge difference in terms of view depending on personal preference.

Is there anything you want to be close to?

Here’s a map of the property...

We had a GV room in Big Pine Key, close to the main building side bank in October and I really enjoyed that location. Really central spot within the resort and a quick walk to both pools, main building, and Gaspy’s. Our room was on the second floor so we just used the end stairwell for most of our travels - super convenient.

We’re in/out of the room and around the pools a lot, and this location was perfect for us.

I am not sure if you know? There are 2 options for Deluxe king in Main Building. Floor 2 looks like the regular rooms with addition of the soaker tub. That floor is above the QS Gaspies and has a TPV and balcony.

The other version is the octagon shaped rooms without balconies but lots of windows.

When I was there last I chatted with a CM I recognized. If they are having issues with rooms they are placing people in the main building.

Make sure to go up to the 5th floor and look out the windows. The view is amazing!!! :cloud9:
