Now for me, I loved the CR pool. There were two pools, one slightly themed and the other a deeper depth pool (about 5') just off the edge of the Bay Lake. The main pool was large, lots of places to sit, lifeguards that were very watchful.

Your kids will adore the arcade as my son did earlier this month. Tell them to play the Wheel of Fortune Game to get lots of tickets. My son walked home with a lot of loot from the arcade. Course we left lots of "loot" there as well, but he had a great time.

I loved the Eggs Benedict at the Concourse Steakhouse. My son loved the very large Belgian Mickey waffle. My husband liked several things. We ate breakfast there three times, I think. And dinner once. They have wonderful steaks.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I just booked the Concierge "Light" at the Contemporary for December 23-26. The rate on the Best Rate site was $335 per night. :cool1:

I am not worried about not having "full" concierge because we do not drink alcohol and plan to go to a TS restaurant each night.

I sure hope we get a renovated room and an MK view! Need a litle pixie dust! :wizard:

The Pools are open 24 hours a day, but the lifeguards and slide are only from 10:00am - 8:00pm

My kids loved CR. The monorail and being close to MK (10 minute walking distance) were the biggest selling points. Chef Mickey's is fun and so is the arcade. I like the LARGE rooms and the location.

Does anyone know the days and times they do hair wraps by the pool? dd5 had a friend get one last year and she really, really wants to get one. Thanks! :)

You could have measured the tickle in my heart when I got a call from a CM at the Contemporary! :)

I faxed in my room request (we have two children with bad asthma) and really need non-smoking, I also mentioned my birthday was Tuesday and would like to know where to order a cake. She called to tell me they have their own bakery at the Contemporary and she forwarded my call to them!

The sweet lady gave me options for the cake...a white cake with white chocolate frosting for $25 (serves 8), or a chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting, or a Mickey cake (can be either choc/or van)...for $45....I really shouldn't have splurged but I thought the kids would get a kick out of a Mickey cake...and they're going to deliver it to our room! :) We're sooo excited!

I'll give an update on any construction I see while we're there...we're in the wings.

Great travels everyone!

How soon did you send your fax before your arrival date? It's nice to hear that they read your fax. A lot of people have been saying that they're ignored - just put in a folder. I plan on sending one a couple days before our arrival.

I sent it on Friday night and she called me Saturday morning...we arrive Monday afternoon. I think it's always worth a shot.

Have a great trip!

We just stayed at the Contemporary in a tower room Sept 9 - 11. The rennovated rooms had an Asian/Disney flair, the only thing we did not like were the sliding door panels that have to be SHOVED to open to access the bathroom! The beds were large, and comfortable with plenty of extra pillows, and the day bed is like a sofa. There is a flat screen built in tv. The lighting was very modern. The new decor lets the resort continue to live up to its name - Contemporary.

What floor? which side? Do you know what floors have been completed and what they are working on right now?

Thanks! :earsgirl:

Yes, please tell us which floors have been completed. We're booked in for December and I want to try to request a renovated floor.

Loving this thread. We have never stayed at the Contemporary, but we plan to for our next trip...we are a family of 5 and don't want to have to pay for 2 rooms, so CR here we come!

Has anyone stayed in a junior suite here? What's the difference between a JS and a regular room? DH and I are planning a weekend trip to dovetail with some job training he has in Orlando, leaning towards an epcot resort, but the allure of the contemporary is hard to resist!

Dates are November 18-21, best rate is $900 total for 3 nights (that includes tax). Tower room is available for $100 more total, would this be better?

I apologize if these issues have already been covered earlier in the thread, but 53 pages is a lot to read in one night!!

We stayed in a junior suite in the south wing, room #5109. The room was very spacious with a king bed, a dining table, sofa bed, armchairs and lots of floor space. It was a really great room but, if I had a choice, I'd spend the extra $100 and get a tower room -- the view and convenience to the monorail and restaurants are really worth it.

Tenth floor has been fully completed. I checked the floor and a room there last week- absolutely beautiful rehab. The pictures on the internet do not do these rooms justice. The guest rooms will finally live up to the name of the hotel, with modern contemporary elegance.

Work has begun on the right side of the ninth floor, and once occupancy drops a bit, I suppose they will begin work on the other side (tower was overbooked as we were leaving).

If you aren't fortunate enough to snag a new room, you can ask anyone at the front desk for a peak at a new room. Pending occupancy and logistics, they should be able to take you up for a looksee.

I would suggest calling up Disney or your travel agent and asking them to make add a request to your reservation asking for one of the new rooms. It doesn't necessarily guarantee anything, but it does improve your chances, as the room planners will respect such requests if at all possible.

Does anyone happen to know what a Florida resident rate might be for a standard room? Just a ballpark figure?

Thanks!

As far as the Florida resident rate goes, it seems to vary somewhat, but just generally speaking, expect around $150-200 per night for a room in the wings, and $250-300 per night for a regular tower room, in value and regular seasons (the peak and holiday will be more). There have been a few deals in the past lower than these, but also sometimes they seem to go to the high end. Part depends on the season, and part seems to be just Disney's whim. I'm still kicking myself, in 2002 (around the time of the travel slump) I had a standard wing room for $125 (around there), and then when I inquired at the desk, was offered tower for $215 and didn't take it. I didn't realize what a good deal both of those rates were. I should have grabbed the tower, because i've never seen it that low again the past couple years.
