I sure hope for a patio! That would be ideal with my 20 month old who LOVES to run around...

Does anyone know if there will be any kind of lounge area on the 10th floor Atrium Club?

There will be tables and chairs like there are now on 12 but no lounge with a view like 14. That will open in January.

Wow! It looks like I can officially post on this thread...after 4 cancelled trips in the past year and a half..it looks like our celebration trip to Disney is going to go through! (It took a looooong time to sell our house...never want to go through that AGAIN!)

We booked CR for two reasons....honestly, the $$ savings over Poly would help us...and we've never been there....it's our last trip to Disney atleast for the next 10 years so we wanted to really do "nostalgic" Disney.

We're set for the wing rooms and I have a question. Talking to the reservation folks and explaining our health concerns (two children have horrible asthma) they suggested requesting a refurbed room....that sounded like a good plan...but y'all seem to say that the refurbed rooms are going to be in the South Wing not the North Wing...isn't the South Wing the one that has 1st floor smoking? Can you notice the smoke on floors 2 & 3? Anytime we've stayed at a Hampton Inn or such that has smoking on 1st floor it always seemed to rise and go through the ventilation system. Is the CR built like those or can you really not tell if you're in a 'smoking' building? The extra cleaning they do for rooms is not good for our kids...they spray the carpet with a chemical that they are sensitive to...the last trip was the first trip we did not have an attack at (YEAH!!!) and I'm hoping this one will be a good time.

Any help or experiences you can share would be great! Thanks a bunch! I'm soooo excited about this trip!!!

Tara....oh and I'll be celebrating my BIRTHDAY on our second day there!!! And the kids don't know when we're going...we plan on telling them we're driving down to an aunt who lives in Columbus, Georgia...and just keep on going! :)

Stitch Inside--Oh, I hope we get one of those rooms!! We requested a ground floor room, in the north wing for the same reason as Luv2trav. We figured it would be so much easier with our 23 month old who ususally gets up EARLY! My fingers are crossed so tightly!!! LOL

I didn't notice any smoke in the South Wing last week.

Staying at the CR on 10/1 for the first night of our honeymoon. HAve paid for the tower and requested a MK view (fingers crossed!) what can I do to bolster my chances of GETTING the MK view? Should I ask for a specific room or just butter up the Cm on check-in if they try to give me a Bay view? We really want to have to romance of the castle view on our first night!

Did you mention it was your honeymoon? That might give you a better chance for some pixie dust. :wizard:

Is the 14th floor suites only or are there some regular Concierge rooms? When I looked to book Concierge online, only one category came up that said "Tower Concierge". Is that the Atrium Club - 10th floor?
Also, why is the 14th floor not scheduled for rehab? Thanks!

The 14th floor has 5 regular rooms along with the suites. 1 is a handicapped room (no tub, low counters.) Tower Concierge is the 14th floor. Atrium Club is the 10th floor (back to 12th floor in January.) 14th floor was rehabed not too long ago but I do think it needs some rehab esp. the carpets.

Just some info:

The South Garden Wing is also under construction right now. DVC was rumored to be going into the North Garden Wing but they are still going back and forth and they are pushing for someone to just make a decision!

I am having trouble booking Nov 30, 2006 for the std wing room and a tower MK view. I wonder if this may be the reason? They are telling me there is no availability. Someone else suggested that a convention may be holding the rooms. I hate it when I can't get something taken care of as soon as possible! I just want to get it booked and not have to worry over it.

I'm not sure of the dates, but last year, we were at CR the first week/second week of December, and there was some kind of medical convention going on AND everyone from ESPN with some college awards show was staying there. Needless to say, the tower was booked solid.

There are a lot of conventions in that resort. Last time we stayed in the tower, everyone around us was at a K-Mart convention. There were also a ton of others walking around with "Hello, my name is ....... " tags on too for another company.

UGGHHH. I am so frustrated, I don't know what to do! I'm going to call a TA to see if that will get me anywhere. I just want to book my dates!
any other suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

I just had a great experience. Called Disney for a spur of the moment trip this weekend and got the Passholder rate of $169 + tax ($188) for Friday and Saturday. Reserved dinner at Garden Grill (Epcot) and Chef Mickey's for breakfast (Saturday). I normally take a week to plan everything and I just did it in 15 minutes! :cool1:

Any CR guests still fax in room requests?

We booked our trip through AAA...still don't know why...I usually know more about it than they do...I think they talked me into having all these extra perks which really won't be used by us...anyhow...she has written down that our son has asthma and will need a "clean" room without the cleaning they usually do (the chemicals mess him up)...

My problem is in "trusting" that she actually got the point across...since this is such a make/break issue with us..2 of our 3 trips there have had days at the Emergency room...but I read on allearsnet that since our last trip that Disney changed their policy and don't want you to fax requests in. Just curious if any of you think it would help for me to just make sure that we definitely get a non-smoking and all that.

Thanks!
Tara

Just make sure your reservation has the request including the medical need for the room. That should be all you need to do. Plus when you check in, repeat the information to them about your medical need. Should be all you need to do.

I'm going to be booking another stay at the CR for Columbus Day weekend '06. I'd like to stay Atrium Clib again, but had read somewhere on the DIS that you can't pay extra for a guaranteed MK view on the Atrium level. Anyone know if this is true or not ?
