I was wondering if they were referring to the red and green lights that they used to put in the support beams. You know how they have the clusters of 16 lights in a square between the balconies on the support columns? They used to replace those with squares of red and green bulbs, just on the front side of the tower. It made it look very festive at night, with the big red poinsettia tree out front with a big white star on top. I haven't seen them do the red and green lights in a long time, probably since they quit doing the concourse decorations inside. The funny thing about the garland swags they hung on the hallways leading to the elevators - they didn't hang them at the same level on both sides. So if you were facing the elevators, there might be one on the left on the fifth floor, on the right on the 6th floor, on the left on the seventh floor, and so on.

Does anyone remember the little skit they used to do when they had the hot air balloon decoration? They had christmas tree cactus' along the top of Bay View Gifts, and they had someone "light" the cactus' with gunfire. They also had a band that would play (I remember hearing Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer over, and over, and over, while having dinner at the Steakhouse). I also remember the huge tree they used to hang. It was really something to stand underneath it, because it was hollow inside - a bunch of concentric rings with tinsel fringe hanging down.

Ah, those were the good old days!
I think that I have a good idea of what you are referring to, just not 100% sure.

I found an old pic of it on the web at the laughingplace website. There are some pictures under Contemporary holiday 2000 that show the tree out front and the alternating lines of red and green squares down the front of the building.

I will go look there later on.

Just wondering how "CR Resort Fan 4 Life" is going to the Poly!!:upsidedow :rotfl:
I thought you only went Contemporary:goodvibes
Back in February when my Dad called CRO to make our December reservations, the Atrium Club was sold out for our dates. At 1st we had a reservation for a Bay Lake View room, however because we wanted the Club Level service we thought we should try something different. So we figure it's the perefct time to try to the Polynesian.

You don't think you'll turn into a Poly Fan 4 Life do you??:lmao:Don't know what we would do on this link without your wisdom and experience!

The Contemporary is always going to be my #1 all time favorite WDW Resort, so no chance of that happening. :lmao:

Besides it's always good to try something new. Plus maybe my family and I not staying at the Contemporary this time means there could be a new family staying there, because we don't have a reservation there.

CR Resort fan 4 Life.....I think you will enjoy staying at any hotel on the monorail line. We do!!

One reason we picked the Poly let's say over the Boardwalk is because of the Monorail. We think it's great having it where we stay, so we could not see ourselves staying at a Resort which was not on the Monorail line.

That works if your favorite park is MK. For me, I like BW because of its proximity to the World Showcase. I love Epcot. Do you think you'll ever try resorts not on the monorail? BTW Have fun at the Poly. Just got back, you'll love the lighting on the castle!

Well, I have a question for all you CR experts. Do they have the magic Mickey cookie bars, you know the ones that are like a choc chip cookie with coconut and sprinkle Mickey heads (usually orange and brown ones) on top anywhere at CR? I love those things.

Well I also forgot to mention that the Magic Kingdom is our favorite park, so it makes sense to stay close to it. I never want to say never to trying a Resort that is not on the Monorail line, because I have always thought the Boardwalk would be a fun place to stay. However we also like the Monorail Resorts since we always visit them a lot and with the Monorail it makes things easy when going to them.

A few years ago we had a few stays at the Wilderness Lodge. Even though it's not on the Monorail line, it was still in the Magic Kingdom Resort area.

When the Food & Fun Center was open they were selling these Chocolate and Vanilla Cup Cakes, with Mickey's face on top of them. I also know they were offered on select days up in the Atrium Club and Tower Club lounges. Besides those the only other thing that comes to my mind are those Mickey Mouse Ice Cream bars.

Stupid question probably but I can't seem to find an answer on here yet...Are all of the rooms renovated now? We will be going in March and I don't want to pay that much to stay in one of the old rooms - yuck.

 Leaving today! Checking into CR tomorrow!!!!

As we noted before, I'll look for 'ya with your red hair and my big red-headed son!

For a couple of days this week it was looking pretty grim with snow or sleet and our flight originates in Albany then picks us up in Baltimore. But now it looks like the weather-gods are cooperating and giving us a window of opportunity to fly out in the morning!

Hopefully we'll be checking in midday!!!

Have a safe trip down!

Yes, all garden wing rooms and tower rooms including the 12th floor Concierge, Atrium Club, were given a full renovation, completed I believe sometime late in 2006. The 14th floor Concierge level, composed mainly of suites and a few standard rooms was given a "light renovation".

That information is 100% correct.
