DISNEY'S CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information Thread!

Hi all
Looking for some information reassurance please

Mt family are booked with virgin Holidays to stay in Disney Contemporary Resort the middle of July 2007. Today I received a letter from Virgin saying that the tennis courts will be unavailable during our stay. (With no mention of the north wing)

With all the talk about the north wing being possibly demolished and the building of a DVC I am concerned that the tennis courts closure is just the tip of the iceberg.

This will be our 3rd stay at the Contemporary Resort as we like having the Food and Fun Centre for the kids and most of all we loved the tower rooms overlooking MK and the short walk to the resort after the fire works.

The thought of paying all that money to stay at the Contemporary Resort in a tower room next to a building site is not good and the thought of sitting at the pool or walking around the resort with the sites and sound of a building site doesn’t help.

I’m considering changing to another Disney Resort because of the possibility of building work inside and out side the Contemporary Resort and the uncertainty about the new room décor :artist: .

So has anyone got some confirmed information regarding the north wing or any other planed refurbishments inside and out side the Contemporary Resort?

Thanks
David

I posted a thread on here earlier. About my finding today.
I wanted to get some CR opinions. About what happened to me today.
I am checking in on Wednesday, for my honeymoon at the Contemporary.
I wanted to verify everything as the dates had changed.
I booked a standard wing room with a AAA discount.

The lovely lady there says to me, we have you booked for a TOWER ROOM, BAY LAKE view.

I paid for standard. Wing room.
I don't know what to think.
Honeymoon upgrade?
Any opinions?
I am probably going to call back and double check.
I am just worried the upgrade is too good to be true.

Just as I said before, my happiness does not rely on the room I get. I will be happy anywhere they put me (except for maybe in the maintenence room).
I was just curious.

I was very excited about the idea of DVC at CR but I asked the cast member on the phone yesterday and she said DVC will not be coming there. She told me the next DVC villas will be at AKL.

thanks David1... I am packing right now.. We're packing binoculars... you never know... maybe we'll be upgraded to a tower room and will need them to see the landscape.

Hey everyone! In response to the earlier poster's question about upgrades, I recently got back from an absolutely magical trip from 10/28-11/01. This was my first deluxe resort and I was nervous that I had made the wrong choice. Let me tell you, I have never enjoyed a resort as much as I did the Contemporary.
I booked a Tower Magic Kingdom View. During check-in, the very nice CM (from China) said that our room wasn't ready but she could tell us what floor we would be on. (It was only 9:00am). She told me the 12th floor! I would not have known to be so excited except for reading on these boards that the 12th floor was the Atrium Club aka "Concierge Light". :woohoo:
I literally started cheering and jumping up and down (which totally embarassed my teenager :rotfl: ) and I had to tell her why I was so excited to be on the 12th floor.
I would have never been able to afford such oppulence. It was first class all the way and the room was breathtaking and the beds and pillows amazing! :cloud9:
When I opened the drapes to see the balcony, there was the castle! I literally laid in my bed every night and watched the castle change colors as I fell asleep. Now that's the next best thing to Heaven! :goodvibes
Thanks to these boards I also knew that they played the Wishes fireworks soundtrack on channel 20 of our room's TV so we watched the fireworks from our balcony - a front row seat - munching on the wonderful pastries/desserts from the Atrium Club lounge.
It just doesn't get much better than that!
Usually the resort room is just a place for us to crash and nurse our aching feet but at the Contemporary it was a constant part of the Magic because I never felt removed from the Magic Kingdom!
I hope that we can afford to stay there again!

What a fabulous trip!! How wonderful for you! Last year we were in the CR in the tower. We weren't on the 12th floor but we loved being at the CR!

I'm just posting to share my excitement. (I'm at work right now, but I can't concentrate, so why not DIS?) I have not stayed at CR since 1994! I was 12 years old (and my parents were paying back then!) We will be leaving tomorrow when I get off work, which puts us arriving around 1 AM. For the first night we are staying offsite, but on Wednesday we'll be getting up bright and early and going to CR!!!!!! I can't believe it's almost here!

Steven have a great time. :yay: I can't wait for my trip to the Contemporary in December.

Just got in and we got upgraded to 12th floor. :Pinkbounc When the valet told them our room number and said they would take us and our luggage right up it took a second to sink in. I still can't believe it. :Pinkbounc

That's great! I have a question while you're at CR. Are they currently working on the Concourse Steakhouse and Food n Fun Center renovations/switch, or do you know if they will be soon? Thank you.

Wow, that's great! Enjoy your time! Also, can you tell what's going on at the racquet club? I'd really love to know if anything's happening on the fourth floor concourse level. Thanks.

Hi there!
Just back from my honeymoon!
Booked the standard wing, got an upgrade to the tower, a Bay Lake view, but our room location was so great that the MK was right outside our door.
Free internet access the whole stay. It was awesome. There is construction on the North wing. Lots of pallets of materials outside and it appears that people are working in there.

Hi and congrats on your wedding. Thanks for the update. Glad that you had a good time and isn't it awsome to be upgraded!!!

No construction on the 4th floor right now. Pongoperdigirl already filled you in on the north wing. I still can't get over our pixie dust for the 12th floor, I can almost ignore all the rain we had yesterday and today. :goodvibes

Thank goodness for Mickey ponchos!!

We will be going this summer for the first time and I was wondering about tower views on the Bay Lake side. What will we see? Can you see the WL? We would really like that.

I remember the only time my family & I had a Bay Lake view I was able to see Epcot & Illuminations, however that is the only thing I remember seeing. Last week when I was at the Contemporary I was able to see the Wilderness Lodge when walking towards my room, so don't know if that helps or not?

:cool1: We are headed back to the CR!!:cool1: The Contemporary is our very favorite resort. I am sure you all understand.;) We will be there during the Christmas season this year (end of Nov-early Dec) and I am so excited about it! I am hoping that some of you may have photos of the holiday decorations at the CR. I would love to take a sneak peek.

We are going to be staying on the Atrium Club level this time. Previously I had stayed in the tower with an MK view (as a child) and in the south wing with an awesome lake view!! I LOVE both views..so I won't be upset about either placement...however, I have requested a MK view.

ALL of that said...I do have a few lingering questions. Do any public areas on that floor face the lake view? I was told that the atrium club is no longer "concierge light" but rather full concierge...have any of you experienced this?

THANKS a ton for any photos of the holiday decorations at the CR or any input into the Atrium club!

:thumbsup2

There is no public views of the lake on the 12th floor as the lounge is on the MK side. We just got back from a Christmas stay at the Atrium Club and it was a fantastic experience. There was a full concierge service and the lounge is a great place to chill

Here are some photo's of the lounge
