When faxing a room request to CR and staying on Tower Club - 12th Floor "Limited" Concierge - do I use the main CR fax #407-824-3539 - or is there a special concierge fax # that I should use??

Also, please refresh my memory - do I fax 3 or 4 days prior to check-in? And, what time of day is best to fax your request?

I've put together a fantastic letter & am really excited to send & hope that the CM's have a fun time reading it, as much as I had fun writing it!!!! - I'll hopefully post next week after I've sent as part of my pre-trip report.

Thanks!
:)
Deb

I would email it to them:
WDW.Contemporary.Concierge@disney.com

I would send it now so they know your wishes.

I'm sure they have their own fax line, I know the 14th floor does. I do not know that number.

Actually, there's a "floor" between the 12th and 14th, that supports the 14th, 15th floors and has the AC, electrical and maintenance rooms.[/B]

Interesting -- that's totally right. You can see it clear as day from a picture of the building. Never noticed it before.

Kimberle -- I'm having trouble opening your link to the floor plan of the 14th floor for some reason. Is there anyway you can post it directly? What I really want to know is of the 5 non suites on the 14th floor, how many are on the MK side?

does anywhere else in the world (real world) have trees that look like the ones in front of the Contemp?

Hi Deb. I noticed your countdown clock. We are staying on the 12th floor from Oct 21st - 25th. I am also a Mom to 3 (two girls and a boy). See you in 6 days!

humm, I don't have a link to the floor plan. Bambi does. Maybe she'll stop by.

If I remember correctly, 3 rooms are on the MK side, 1 of which is handicapped accessible, and 2 are on the bay side.

We requested & received a bay view room. Since the lounge is on the MK side, we had the best of both worlds. We could view the fireworks there & the water parade from our room.

Thanks. FWIW, it looks as though of the 5 regular rooms on 14, 4 are on the MK side and one is on the lake side.

I called yesterday to check some dates in '05. I was surprised at how heavy the AAA discounts were -- uniformly 18 percent across the board. And they were in fact available for both the 12th and 14th floor. I know there was some question on this thread earlier whether discounts are ever available on the 14th floor, and I was in fact quoted an AAA rate that was the same discount percentage-wise. It was $420 for value season (normally $495).

Isn't 18 percent a little high for the AAA discount; I thought they were closer to 10 pecent?

Hi everyone!

This is my very first post and my family's first trip to WDW! We are going from12-19 -- 12-26. We are staying in the wing rooms and I just wanted to know the odds of getting a tower upgrade. I 've seen it posted on here, When you say that is it free? And how do you get it? Just wanted to know, as this will be our one and only trip MyDH is USAF and will probably be overseas for the next year. thanks Robyn

I'm so excited for you!! We'll be at CR on the 19th too! We're going home the day before Christmas Eve tho. I don't know about the tower upgrades, but from my personal experience, the wings are just fine! You're @ Disney World after all!! I think you have to go with the attitude that the wing room will be fine, but when you're checking in, it never hurts to ask!! Good luck and we'll see you there! ::yes::

Laura

Thanks,

Oh I'm fine with the garden room. It was $100 per night cheaper!($100x7 days.....Whew!) I 'm guessing it will be very crowded during the time we will be there, but to be in WDW on Christmas seems pretty magical!

From what I've read you can see MK from some of the garden wing rooms right? Any clue on which to ask for? And is Ca, Grill ok for kids (7, 9, 11) we have ps for 9:10 on the night we arrive to hopefully see the fireworks. But I don't want to bring kids where they won't be welcome either. any advice?

Robyn

Robyn,

The kids will enjoy CA Grill - and it's a GREAT place to catch the fireworks!

I'm sure it will be crowded, but it's such a festive time of year - and without the summer's heat, it'll be WONDERFUL!! Make sure you and your family get over to WL and check out the lobby.

Your children - boys? girls? Our DD, Tori, is 11 and I know she always enjoys making new friends when we're there. :D

Are you planning to do all the parks? Have you gotten the Unofficial Guide or a Passporter yet? They're really invaluable. You'll also get lots of wonderful advice from these boards. Any questions - don't hesitate to ask!

Laura

I have 2 boys and a girl, She is in the middle. Yes, I do have both things you mentioned! I just love the passporter. We plan to do all 4 parks. What is wheather usually like? Will kids be able to swim or will it be too cold? We are going to do both the fantasmic and candlelight processional dinner packages. The candlelight on x-mas eve should be nice i hope. I just hope we can deal with the crowds. Maybe we'll see you there!

Robyn

California Grill is very kid-friendly. Each year we return to discover that the damages caused by our Little Delegation have been repaired, the carpets have been replaced and we are welcomed with open arms (The Ambassador is obligated to tip generously). Once a couple at a nearby table, obviously out for a romantic meal, seemed to eye our table anxiously. As we put the handcuffs on our delinquents, we apologized for any interruption and inconvenience. No, they said, they were travelling without their kids for the first-time, celebrating their tenth anniversary, and were reminded how much they were missing their little rascals.

We are staying at CR for the first time next March. We understand the Tower Room MK-side above 9th floor are most desirable, followed closely by the North and South Garden Wings with 1st floor Bay Lake-view Patios. Some in this forum report seeing the MK fireworks from the North wing.

Thanks,

I'm glad to hear that. I'd be worried about getting the "evil eye" from couples with no kids. Mine are old enough to behave at 7,9, and 11. I was just thinking this would be a nice start to our trip!

Robyn

I've seen the uptight parentless people syndrome at the California Grill. The lounge usually fills up for the fireworks, for example, and the kids try to press up against the window to the dismay of people sitting with window tables. Some people move over to let the kids look, and other harump and complain loudly about how they've been sitting there for an hour.

Most are fine, but you definitely are as apt to run into the problem at the CG as anywhere. I think you just need to have strong skin and ignore it. It's not like they were never kids themselves, and they are eating in a restaurant near a theme park.

Yeah! And make sure your room is directly under the lounge. Throw a chain saw in your suitcase. Then you can saw a whole right next to the serving buffet. Around 5 pm when all the yummy appetizers from the CA Grill are put out, snake a long "claw" up and GRAB THEM! Carefull recover the "hole". Lois & the gang will think they are loosing their minds, they *knew* they put them out already......:teeth:

Thanks to everyone's opinion here we did book the 14th floor room for our 3 night post cruise stay. I have been looking at your pictures and am really excited about it. I think its just the place we need to wind down after our 10 day cruise. I know we are going to be completely spoiled after this vacation. It will truly be hard to return home!

Thanks!
