Can someone give me a little info about the pools at the CR? Is there more than one? It seems like there is no place to get out of the sun (trees etc) if I remember. A little too much concrete!!

BambyTamby & Kimberle,

OK, after looking at all your pictures, I really am liking the looks of the CL. BUT - how on earth do you justify the cost? I was just looking at rates for next year.....$555/night. Phew!

DH would like to stay at CR on our next trip. I would like to stay Concierge. So, in your opinion - what makes the CR Concierge so special to you vs. staying in a regular tower room?

Thanks!

2 pools. The smaller one (bay lake) was closes our entire stay. I have no idea why.

Larger is really cool, Mickey shaped (head). I didn't go down the slide, but it was busy. I thought there was quite a bit of shade. You just had to leave the chairs back a bit, under the trees.

No music piped in. After the wonderful theme music from WL, I really missed the music. In general, CR does need it own "theme music" track......

humm, I don't know how to "justify" the cost. When you compare $ to $ for most any concierge, you'll never "break even" or come out ahead. It's just a different style.

I like that we had a bay room while the lounge was on the MK side. We could watch the water parade from our room & the FW from the lounge. I liked the friendly concierge staff. If I needed something or just had a question, I only had to ask. One of the ladies even played Candyland with my DD. I liked that I could just leasurly walk down to the lounge whenever I needed a soda or something to eat. Always plenty of food, never looked "picked over". (Durning serving hours, that is.) I LOVED the calmness of watching the FW's from the lounge balcony while having desert and coffee. No pushing, nobody bumping into me or fighting for space. They even piped in the soundtrack.

I found the "looks" from people in the elevator amuzing when I'd stick my card in. They ranged from "what is that", to "oh, wow, is she "somebody", to "oh, a snob...." I also liked the looks of CM's when I'd hand my golden card to them for a charge.;)

It's a nice, pampering feeling.

Oooh, is the card really a different color ? :earseek:

Sounds like it was nice. I know you can't compare $ for $ for the different resorts because of the different theming/specialties.

I've stayed at Poly Concierge and didn't care for it because it was crowded a lot. There were also alot of lounge lizards that had extremely poor manners.

I've stayed at WL Concierge and enjoyed this - except that the food would run out within 15-20 minutes of them putting it out (mostly the evening appetizers). If you weren't there when they were putting them down, then they were gone!

I must say that I think we will be "attempting" to go this route for our next trip. I'm trying to pry a date out of DH so I can get a CY room. I've been talking to him just about every night telling him how limited the concierge is at CR.

Like you, I think I would want a Bay Side because we could always watch the fireworks from the lounge.

Thanks for the additional info.

I'll ditto your remarks on the pool at CR. It's kind of plain compared to WL. However, my DS absolutely loved the pool. Me on the other hand, I was just OK with it. I think having ANY type of music piped in would be helpful.

Beth, wasn't your card gold for your other concierge stays? I just assumed it would be. No wonder I got a few "eyes popping out of head" looks.

Thanks Kimberle. I know where the Bay Lake pool is but where is the other Mickey pool? Also is there anywhere I can get a CR map?

They are right next to each other.

Nope. They were the same as any other room key. I must say, that've very cool...:cool2:

Concierge keys are a different color from the regular keys.

usually a brownish-gold color.

Beth, there are several pics of the pools on my webshots pages.

Duh!! We were there in the evening and I guess it was dark and I wasn't paying attention. Thanks!!!!!

Can anyone tell me the laundry room situation at the Contemporary?? We will be coming off the 10 cruise and not sure if we'll get to do laundry onboard. We will be on the 14th floor. Do they have their own laundry room??

Thanks!

Hi Tina,
No, no laundry in the Tower. Sure would be nice to have one on the 14th floor! :teeth:

CR has 2 laundries. One in each wing. When you check in, you will get a map that will show you where each laundry room is.

Kim,

Thanks for the quick reply. I may try to get it done on the ship. Sure don't want to schlep it all out to the wings! I can't believe there isn't one in the tower!!

Hi you guys. I have a reservation for the tower club from 11/27 thru 11/30. I called today on a whim and the 14th floor MK view suite is available for my dates!!!! I am thrilled and suffering at the same time. I am torn!!! It will be about a $2K price difference, but I am dying to try the 14th floor. I have three kids so we are not allowed the regular14th floor rooms, that's why the suite. We will be staying GF RPC for 4 nights before the CR check in and now I just want to be spoiled the whole trip. (what a brat, I know)

Do you think it would be worth the extra $$$?? I just don't know. I have had this same room held before and then changed because I just don't want to pay that price and be regretting it.

I love the CR. It is my kids' favorite resort, too. I am just not sure....

What to do? I have until 5 pm tomorrow to pay a deposit. HELP!!!!
I need to hear some FABULOUS things about the 14th floor!!!!! PLEASE!!!:earsgirl:

We just returned from our nine night trip at the WL. We had a wonderful time. One thing I am changing for our next trip is to stay on the monorail! While I loved the WL, too much time is spent on boats or wating for boats.

So, here's my question. I really want an MK view from the Tower. We dined at the Cali Grill, and it spoiled me. I know not everyone gets the MK view. So, how many people have not gotten an MK view when they requested it? And how possible is it to switch to an MK room on the second day of your stay if one isn't available the first night?

I don't mean to sound demanding. Other than non-smoking, that's my only request (I can deal with a lower floor). I'm really torn between the Poly and CR. The deal maker for me is an MK view from the Tower. If I can't get a MK view, I would be happy to save the extra money and take a GV room at the Poly. We are planning our next trip for early December for next year or 2006.

TIA!

The 14th floor is wonderful. Have you seen BambiTambi's site? She has the floorprint and room layout of the 14th floor. It's posted on this thread a few pages back. (I would repost the link, but I'm at home & don't have it bookmarked on this computer.) With only 16 rooms & suites you're very pampered. The view is just incrediable. We had a bay view room (our request). We'd watch Wished from the lounge balcony. They pipe in the music. Very very *VIPish* feeling.;)

The food is wonderful, lots of choices. Stocked fridge in your room. Very large bathrooms.

Is it *worth* an extra $2k? Well, only you can answer that question considering your families budget and tastes.

I have pictures in my link below.

No, no guarentee of a MK view. I'd have to make an educated guess you'd probably have a 60-70% chance of getting that view. The views of both sides are amazing. We had a bay view (our request) and would view the MK & Wishes from the Concierge's lounge, so we had the best of both worlds.

I have pictures of both views on my link below.
