hello all,
I am now to the 9th day, and i need to ask one more question.

I have made ressies for the tower so If you are standing in front of the CR (where you drive up ) is M.K. on your left or right?

If possible I would like to get a room with the best view and thanks again for your help.

MK would be on your left ::yes:: .

I hope you get exactly the rooms you request - good luck! Every time we've gone to WDW since 2002, we've said that it would probably be a long time before we went back...but we were hooked! Now DH says we should make it a yearly vacation, and I completely agree - I just can't get enough of that magical feeling I get when I'm there!

Since November is our favorite time to go, I'm intent on making it happen this November again - we love the weather, the lower crowd level and the F&W Festival. It's a long shot, but I'm working on it already!! ::yes::

I just feel that you never know when your kids will get to an age when they don't think WDW is cool anymore (I hope that never happens to us) :( ;) .

5. If we are at MK to watch Spectromagic will we have time to get back to our room before wishes starts.

:jumping1:

4. We stayed on the MK side and we watched the Polynesian's viewing of the EWP from our balcony every night.

5. We were able to make it back to our room after spectro to watch the fireworks from our balcony. (walking back to the CR was quicker than waiting for the monorail due to the crowds after the parade)

I haven't stayed at the CR in 20 years. I loved it as an 8 year old, but will I love it as a 28 year old?

My BF and I are going for 8 nights in Dec. Our 1st choice was the Poly but couldn't get the discount I got at the CR. I'm calling back everyday to see if something opens up.

If we get "stuck" with the CR, will we like it? I'm looking for a romantic week in addition to monorail service to MK and Epcot. I've heard mixed reviews of the CR, many say it's worn down and in major need of rehab, others say they haven't seen the wear and tear and love it!

What do y'all think?

We were just at CR last week. I posted my opinions on another thread that I started. I would not say it is worn at all, but it is definitely not romantic. It is very busy, like a big-city hotel. If you want an MK resort with atmosphere similar to the Poly, stick with the Poly or GF. Another option could be WL. It is beautiful and relaxing, less expensive than the Poly and it has boats to MK and CR. It is not on the monorail though. Jay

I'm staying at the CR again for the second time in 14 mths, Chicago526. I too was concerned with reports of wear in the North and South Garden wings. Having stayed at a SG room in March 2003 and loved it, I've said to hell with it and am not worrying about the condition of my room this June. If there's broken furniture, I'll simply ask for a new room. It's a vacation adn you can't stress overit.

Part of the reason I love the CR is the nostalgia. I first visited it 25 years ago as a child and was as impressed you were. It's not the most attractive resort, but no other Disney hotel gives you the feeling of being in the center of the action; it's almost like you're staying in the capital of WDW. It's lively and hopping. Some people may dislike this; sometimes I do. My favorite Disney hotels are the Polynesian and Yacht Club. But the allure of the CR is irresistable.

In which rooms are you staying - Tower or Garden? You should know that whereer you're staying you're getting the biggest rooms in WDW property. The CR has the California Grill, one of WDW's best restaurants. It's got Chef Mickey's if you like that sort of thing; and it's got the best shopping. And of course you know how close the CR is to the MK.

All these pluses outweight the minuses. Have fun!

Thanks to all of you for the helpful info. We just returned from a 4 night stay at CR in a garden wing (cheapest rooms).
When I got there I verified that I requested a north garden wing room to be closer to MK. She said OK that would be fine. Then she looked on her computer and asked if a pool view room would be OK. I said great!

Then, she realized that the room was in the south wing and asked if that was still OK. She said it was a better room. I took the pool view, I thought it might be an upgrade. Ireally don't know if it was an upgrade or night. But we got room 5114 on the first floor witha patio facing the pool. We could not see the pool, but it was close by. We could see a portion of the beach and lagoon. The sunrise on the water was pretty from our room and at 10:05pm we could also see the Electric water parade from the room.

I was glad for the room we got. The daybed was fine for my mother; it looked like regular twin size to me. I thought we might walk to MK if we were in the north wing, but after walking over to that area and looking at the castle in the distance, we decided the monorail was the best choice for us with 3 girls age 8, 5 and 2.

Kids loved the pool. Stickey Mickey's (got takeout for breakfast in room) from Concourse Steakhouse were yummy for breakfast. They have pin trading on the 4th floor on Friday nights with a special kid's area.

Glad to answer any questions that I can.

Glad to hear you had a great time! We're staying in the GArden Wing in June. Can you describe the conditiion of the room and mousekeeping? I've read lots of reports lately that the rooms are rundown. Thanks!

Thank you for the review! We are in the garden wing in June too... I would love to know about housekeeping. We were in Coronado in April and it was awful, and I mean that sincerely!

I am hoping for 1 king bed at the CR (if they have one) it's just hubby and I for our Anniversary!

Emmy:cutie: :cutie:

Just back from a stay in the North Garden Wing of the CR. I have no complaints about the condition of the room or housekeeping. I could see one stain in the hall carpet and housekeeping didn't immediately refill one of our tissue dispensers when it ran out. But I don't know how long that carpet stain had been there before I arrived (may have just been a few days) and I had TWO tissue dispensers in the room so I never actually ran out of tissues!

I decided to try tipping Mousekeeping everyday by leaving a few dollars on top of the pile of towels I left in the bath each day. It worked well because Mousekeeping tried to clean our room early each day - I wanted the room clean before we came back for mid-day breaks. Once they even knocked to clean it at 9:15am!

We stayed in room 7110 - ground floor facing playground and looking over Bay Lake and Marina. It was a short walk to the "Food & Fun Ctr" and the main lobby. Great room for anyone with young kids who might like the playground. Parents can supervise from the patio - either kids playing outside or sleeping/napping inside. Also, my wife and I would split up when returning to the hotel for brief periods - one of us would go inside and unlock the door while the other headed for the patio with the kids in the stroller. That way the kids could hop out of the stroller and run inside once the sliding door to the patio was unlocked from the inside. We would leave the stroller setup and ready to go - no wrestling it into a car trunk or into the room!

Walking to the MK was easy enough and shorter than we expected. From the looks of it, some of the Disney Resort Bus stops serving MK are about half-way between MK and the CR North Wing. That put the walk into perspective - I was going to be in my room before some guests even got a glimpse their bus or a monorail!

I had never stayed at the CR before but I didn't feel that the rooms were run down at all. Mousekeeping was fine. When we asked for more towels... the left them. Always gave us all clean towels even though we left aa few on the towel bar (according to their save the water policy posted in the room). Thankfully the room was done by the time we came back for a break around 1:00pm every day.

We did tip but we didn't get any towel animals. They arranged my girls stuffed animals on their bed though.

No complaints. The room was very convenient/close to pool and fun & food center and monorail access. very short walks. Didn't use bus service, used our car for AK, MGM and downtown disney...just easier with kids.

Monorail was great for MK and Epcot though.

When we were there two weeks ago, mousekeeping was great. The room was always ready when we got back from the parks. Like I said, I did not think the CR looked worn at all. Jay

I love the CR. I thought the rooms were big and vibrant. Mousekeeping was wonderful and so was all the services I used. I can't see how anyone that stays there doesn't love it.

Well here i go again:D need advice one more time,we will be leaving Thrusday morning for Disney. My ressies are for Friday at CR. My thinking was we were going to stay offsite one night so I could be at the CR early Friday morning in hopes of getting what I have requested MK view etc.

I hate knowing i have to mess with luggage twice plus we were going to grocery store that Thrusday Night

please let me know what you guys think:D :D

thanks brooke

Brooke, we are doing the same thing. Staying offsite the first night and then we are moving to the Dolphin. I'm going to pack an overnight bag with clothes and things we will need for one night, so that way I won't have to bother the rest of the luggage. It might make it easier that way for you.

I see for the north and south wing of the CR they list standard view ( parking lot i guess) and garden view

Also listed is a "wing room" for a few dollars more than the garden view. What is different about this room?

Also does any have or know where to find pics of a junior suite room?

Thanks, Mike

CR has 3 buildings, the main or "tower" and to "wing's". The wings are close to the main/tower, but not attached. The north wing is the one closest to MK and the south is closest to the pool area. Standard rooms are the ones closest to the parking lot, garden wing rooms are those in the middle.

We stayed in the North wing and had a garden view which was about 1/2 way down. We had a great view of the fireworks from our room.

Personally, if I were to stay in the wings again (which I would), I would book a standard. For one they are closer to the mail building and you can still get some nice views.

Thanks kimberle but i'm still confused because at the beginning of this thread there are 3 rooms (with diff prices) listed for the wings

standard, garden and wing. what is the difference between the first two and the third?

thanks.

Also i read a few pages back about a hospitality suite on the 14th floor. i thought there were only suites and regular rooms. What is a hospitality suite?

thanks, again

I was under the impression that the wing's had 3 types of rooms, standard, garden, and the junior suites (which are near the water). I could be wrong!

The 14th floor is the Concierge floor. CR has 2 types of Concierge. The full service is on the 14th floor and the Tower Club/light is on the 12th floor. The hospitality suite would be for the exclusive use of the Concierge guests.

Hope this helps.
